Roll A Shade Tension Device Installation Guide

Introduction

This guide provides installation instructions for Roll A Shade Tension Devices, designed to maintain tension on roller shades. It covers both inside and outside mounting applications for standard and floor-mounted brackets.

Hardware and Tools Required

Hardware Included:

• Tension Device + Chain: The primary tensioning mechanism with a beaded chain.
• Tension Device Bracket: A metal bracket for attaching the tension device. (Two types: standard and floor bracket).
• Short Screws: Used for securing the tension device to the bracket.
• Screws: Larger screws used for mounting the bracket to the wall or floor.

Tools Required:

• 3/8" Hex Head tool (for tightening screws).
• Phillips Head screwdriver.
• 1/8" Drill Bit (for pilot holes).
• Drill (power tool).

Application Types

The tension device can be mounted in two ways:

• Inside Mount: The bracket is attached to the inside edge of the window frame or wall, typically near the bottom of the shade mechanism.
• Outside Mount: The bracket is attached to the wall or frame outside the window opening, usually at the bottom of the shade.

The choice between a standard bracket and a floor bracket depends on the installation location and desired mounting method.

Installation Instructions: Standard Tension Device (Model RAS-INS-MAR-TD-001-Rev1)

Inside Mount Installation:

Step 1 (A): Pull the chain down until the tension device's plunger is fully raised, indicating the chain is fully tensioned. Maintain this tension.

Step 2 (B): Position the tension device bracket against the wall or mounting surface at the desired location. Secure the bracket using the provided larger screws, drilling pilot holes if necessary.

Step 3 (C): Attach the tension device to the mounted bracket. Ensure it is securely fastened.

Note: Please make sure the shade operates smoothly after installation.

Outside Mount Installation:

Step 1 (A): Pull the chain down to fully tension the device (plunger raised). Mark the location on the wall where the bracket will be mounted, aligning with the chain's path.

Step 2 (B): Detach the tension device from its bracket. Prepare to drill at the marked location.

Step 3 (C & D): Install the tension device bracket onto the wall using the provided larger screws. Use the marked locations from Step 1 (A) as a reference. Ensure the bracket is firmly attached.

Step 4 (E & F): Place the tension device onto the installed bracket. Secure the tension device to the bracket using the provided short screws.

Installation Instructions: Floor Tension Device (Model RAS-INS-MAR-TD-002-Rev1)

These instructions are similar to the standard tension device but utilize the specific floor bracket.

Inside Mount Installation (Floor Bracket):

Step 1 (A): Pull the chain down until the tension device's plunger is fully raised, indicating the chain is fully tensioned. Maintain this tension.

Step 2 (B): Position the tension device floor bracket against the floor or mounting surface at the desired location. Secure the bracket using the provided larger screws, drilling pilot holes if necessary.

Step 3 (C): Attach the tension device to the mounted floor bracket. Ensure it is securely fastened.

Outside Mount Installation (Floor Bracket):

Step 1 (A): Pull the chain down to fully tension the device (plunger raised). Mark the location on the wall or floor where the bracket will be mounted, aligning with the chain's path.
