1. Get to Know the Product

The HotSpot HS2 PORTABLE WIRELESS (LTE) ROUTER is a high-performance, powerful battery, and high-speed modem that's great to take with you wherever you go thanks to its pocket size and light weight. It offers Wi-Fi connection to multiple devices like tablets, computers, phones, etc. To access the Internet, share files, and more, just plug and play.

2. Instruction and Operations

2.1 Product Diagram

The device has the following components:

2.2 General Specifications

The device specifications are detailed in the following sections, including LED indicator descriptions.

2.3 SIM Card Installation

Use only a standard SIM card (2FF). Do not use 3FF (Micro SIM) or 4FF (Nano SIM) cards unless you use a 2FF size adapter.

Steps:

  1. Remove the cover.
  2. Remove the battery.
  3. Insert the SIM card in the correct position.

Note: Ensure you use the correct SIM card size for the slot. Using an incorrect size may require an adapter.

A compatible SIM card and an active data plan must be used to enjoy internet service.

2.4 Battery Charge

If the PORTABLE WIRELESS ROUTER (LTE) HotSpot HS2 has not been used for a long time, or the battery is completely depleted, it may not turn on immediately after connecting the charger. Charge the battery for a while before trying to turn on the equipment.

Note: Use only chargers compatible with the device and specified by the manufacturer. Using an incompatible charger may cause malfunction, failure, or fire, and voids the warranty. The package includes a USB cable for charging. If unavailable, use a compatible cable with the following characteristics: Input: 100-240 Vac 50/60 Hz 150 mA, Output: 5.0Vdc 1A.

The device is fully charged in approximately 2-3 hours. For the first charge, it is recommended to charge for a minimum of 24 hours to define a high charging threshold.

2.5 Turn on your HotSpot

Press and hold the power button ? until the LED indicators start to flash.

2.6 Internet Connection

Connection parameters are preset by the operator. The HotSpot HS2 will automatically connect to the Internet. You can log in to the web management page to enable or disable auto-connect.

To connect your HotSpot HS2 to a computer via Wi-Fi or USB, find the default network information (SSID and Wi-Fi Password) on the label located under the battery cover.

Default Information:

To access the web manager:

  1. Open a web browser and enter the IP address: http://192.168.8.1
  2. Sign in using the default credentials:
    • Web User: Telcel_Admin
    • Web Password: TelcelXXXX

Once logged in, you can view connection status, configure Wi-Fi, manage devices, and access statistics. The Status Information section provides details like SIM card number, signal strength, IMSI, and IMEI.

2.7 USB Connection

When connecting the router to a PC via USB for the first time, you will need to allow the installation program to run to enable internet connection. A dialog box will appear upon device detection.

Press "Run Autorun.exe" to start the installation. Follow the on-screen prompts to choose the installation path and create desktop shortcuts.

Once the installation is complete, confirm the path and press "Finish". Installing the driver allows internet connection through the USB port.

2.8 Battery Saving Mode

If no Wi-Fi devices are connected and no computers are connected via USB for a few minutes, the Wi-Fi function will turn off automatically to enter battery saving mode. Pressing the power button ? or WPS button will re-enable the Wi-Fi function.

2.9 Restore Factory Settings

There are two ways to restore factory settings:

  1. Hardware Reset: Hold down the RESET button until the device reboots.
  2. Web Manager:
    1. Connect the router to your computer via USB.
    2. Open a web browser and enter the IP address: 192.168.8.1
    3. Enter the default credentials: Web User: Telcel_Admin, Web Password: TelcelXXXX
    4. Navigate to Advanced Settings > Others and select "Factory Reset".

2.10 Changing SSID and Password

Your router's default network name (SSID) is Telcel-HS2-XXXX and the password is XXXXXXXXXXX. It is recommended to change these for security.

The default SSID and password are printed on the label under the battery.

To change them:

  1. Login to the WebUI via IP address: 192.168.8.1 using the default credentials (Web User: Telcel_Admin, Web Password: TelcelXXXX).
  2. Navigate to "Wi-Fi Settings".
  3. Enter your preferred network name (SSID) and password.
  4. Press the "Apply" button.

Devices previously connected will require the new password to reconnect.

2.11 Establish Wireless Connection

Step 1: Turn on your PORTABLE WIRELESS ROUTER (LTE) by pressing the power button ? for a few seconds.

Step 2: Wait for the device to boot normally.

On your phone:

  1. Go to WiFi settings.
  2. Find and select the network name (SSID) corresponding to your device.
  3. Connect and enter the password.

Hint: The signal strength indicator LED turning green indicates a successful connection to the mobile network.

2.12 Establish WPS Connection

If your connected terminal supports WPS (Wi-Fi Protected Setup), you can connect without a password.

Step 1: On the device to be connected, enable the Wi-Fi option and select the WPS option.

Note: Ensure your device supports WPS connection.

Step 2: Press and hold the WPS button ? on your PORTABLE WIRELESS ROUTER (LTE) device for 3 seconds.

2.13 Using the Interface

2.13.1 Access to the WEB Administrator

1. Start your internet browser and enter the IP address: http://192.168.8.1

2. Enter the following credentials: Web User: Telcel_Admin, Web Password: TelcelXXXX

Note: You can change the username and password at any time.

2.13.2 Main Screen

This interface displays data consumption (upload/download), connected users, IMEI, IMSI, signal strength, network name, network settings, SMS, Phonebook, Advanced Settings, and Quick Settings.

2.13.3 Information

This section provides detailed information including IMEI, Serial Number (S/N), IMSI, service provider, network type, signal reception levels (RSSI, RSRP, RSRQ, SINR), Cell ID, and network name.

2.13.4 Messages

This interface allows sending and receiving text messages (SMS). Check with your provider if SMS service is available on your plan.

2.13.5 Contacts

This option allows adding frequent contacts with their information, such as Name, Mobile number, Home number, Office number, Email, and Group.

2.13.6 Advanced Configuration

This section offers various options:

This option guides you through configuring basic parameters like Network name and Password. Advanced options require manual navigation to the corresponding menu.

3. Battery Care

Your PORTABLE WIRELESS (LTE) ROUTER uses a rechargeable battery. The battery life decreases over time with charge/discharge cycles. If operating time is noticeably shorter, consider replacing the battery.

It is important to charge the device for a minimum of 24 hours for the first use to define a high charge threshold for longer battery life.

Attention:

  1. Charging environment temperature should be between 0°C - 45°C.
  2. The battery may lose about 20% of its capacity per year with normal use. Contact a Service Center for replacement if needed.

4. Notes

Please read the following notes when using the device:

  1. Handle with care and keep in clean, dust-free places.
  2. Do not place in humid areas or near water/liquids.
  3. Do not place in extremely high or low temperature locations.
  4. Users are recommended to charge the battery once every two months when not in use to avoid over-discharge.
  5. Do not place near fire or burning tobacco.
  6. Do not spill liquid on the device.
  7. Do not paint the product.
  8. Do not use near medical equipment without prior permission.
  9. Do not use on airplanes or where "No Radio Communication" warnings are highlighted.
  10. Do not use in explosive or dangerous environments.
  11. Do not place or install on a vehicle's additional restraint system.
  12. Do not disassemble the product. Only authorized personnel can offer maintenance.

Individual Medical Instruments

The product may affect pacemakers and other internal medical instruments. Maintain a minimum distance of 15 cm (6 inches) from cardiac pacemakers to reduce interference. If interference is suspected, turn off the device immediately and consult a cardiologist.

Consult the manufacturer if any other individual medical equipment is used.

On Use with Children:

Keep out of reach of children. The device contains small removable parts that may cause choking. It is not recommended for children under 10 years of age to operate the product.

5. Environmental Protection Statement

Product Disposal

Do not dispose of the product randomly or in household waste. Dispose of it through containers dedicated to electronic devices.

The following statement is in accordance with pollution control measures for electronic information products in the People's Republic of China.

6. Applicable Environment

  1. Altitude of operation: Not more than 5,000 meters.
  2. Environmental temperature: The product can be used normally between -10°C and 60°C. Do not use outside this range.

Use of the Radioelectric Spectrum

*Battery run time depends on factors like the number of connected devices, type of content played (e.g., YouTube, Video Games, Netflix), room temperature, material and conditions of use, distance from connected devices, network coverage, and performance. Dynamic (MBB) or fixed use also influences download (DL) and upload (UL) work.

9. Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Regulations

The Quantum HotSpot HS2 product complies with Part 15 of the US Federal Communications Commission (FCC) Rules. Its operation is subject to two conditions: (1) The product must accept any interference received, including interference that may cause undesired operation. (2) This device may not cause harmful interference.

Any changes or modifications not expressly approved by the party responsible for compliance could void the user's authority to operate the equipment.

This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, pursuant to Part 15 of the FCC Rules. These limits are designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. This equipment generates and uses radio frequency energy and, if not installed and used in accordance with the instructions, may cause harmful interference to radio communications.

If this equipment causes harmful interference to radio or television reception, which can be determined by turning the equipment off and on, the user is encouraged to try to correct the interference by one or more of the following measures:

SAR Measurement Results

This section contains detailed Specific Absorption Rate (SAR) test results for the Quantum HotSpot HS2 across various wireless bands (WCDMA, Wi-Fi 2.4G, LTE Bands 2, 4, 5, 7, 66) and configurations. The results are presented for different test positions (Front, Back, Left, Right, Top, Bottom sides) and modes (1RB, 50%RB, etc.), along with SAR values (W/kg), conducted power, and dates of testing. These measurements are conducted to ensure compliance with regulatory limits for radio frequency exposure.
