Operating Modes
Home Menu
The Home Menu provides access to five primary operating modes:
- CCT: Continuous light adjustment from 3000K to 10,000K.
- HSI: Access to 16.7 million RGB colours (Hue, Saturation, Intensity).
- GELS: Selection from 2500 digital filters and 'Source Match' effects.
- FLASH: RGB HSS flash functionality in any CCT, HSI, or filter colour.
- SFX: Special Effects mode for cinematic lighting.
- SYS: System settings for language, display, and factory reset.
Upon startup, the light recalls the last used settings. The System Settings page allows adjustments to language, display, and factory reset options.

CCT Menu
In the CCT Menu, adjust Kelvin from 3000K to 10,000K using the touchscreen slider or the right-hand knob. For maximum brightness, set the light to 4600K, where both warm and cool LEDs are at full power. Use the left-hand knob or the on-screen slider to adjust brightness. Current settings can be saved to presets by long-pressing a preset number, and recalled by short-tapping a preset.
UI Elements: Battery Level ?, Brightness ?, Diffusion (AEOS 2 only), Home button, User Presets (long press to save), Saved Preset Indicator, Colour Temperature Slider.
Flash Menu
Rotolight AEOS 2 & NEO 3 are the first RGBWW LED lights with High Speed Sync (HSS) flash, offering an extra stop of output compared to continuous power. The flash defaults to the last used colour mode (CCT, HSI, or GELS). Switch between colour modes by tapping the bottom-right button. For optimal results, maximum power is achieved at 4600 Kelvin. Set flash power to 'MAX' or 'MAX+' and flash duration to the longest available (e.g., 1/50th) for best performance. Faster shutter speeds are captured automatically.
The lights integrate an Elinchrom Skyport wireless flash receiver, compatible with Rotolight HSS transmitters or Elinchrom Skyport transmitters. Ensure Skyport mode is set to 'SPEED' for HSS. Third-party transmitters like Godox X1T/R can be used via a 3.5mm flash sync socket.
Note: Modelling light power can be adjusted or turned off via the left-hand knob to conserve battery life. It is less bright than continuous power but sufficient for focusing and composition.
Visual Example: A diagram of the Flash Menu interface, showing controls for Frequency, Skyport Mode, Flash Power, Test Fire, Modelling Light Power, Group, Flash Duration, and Colour Temperature/Filter/HSI settings.
HSI Menu
The HSI Menu provides access to 16.7 million colours. Adjust hue using the touchscreen slider or right-hand knob. Tap the bottom-right box to adjust saturation, and use the left-hand knob or on-screen slider for brightness. Save and recall settings using numbered presets.
UI Elements: Selected Preset (e.g., 11, 12, 13), Brightness ?, HSI Colour Slider, Hue/Saturation adjustment, User Presets.
SFX Menu
The SFX Menu offers award-winning Special Effects designed with Stefan Lange. Swipe through available SFX to select and start/stop them. Some effects like 'fade', 'gunshot', and 'paparazzi' can be triggered via the app or the Elinchrom Skyport trigger. Effects have adjustable parameters. A grey triangle indicates a secondary function for adjustment.
Note: Inbuilt SFX have default colours for realistic effects. Customisable SFX can be set based on last used HSI or filter colour, with defaults disabled in SYS mode.
Visual Example: A diagram of the SFX Menu, showing available effects (FIRE, LIGHTNING, CYCLE) and controls for Peak Brightness and SFX Control (e.g., Speed).

Switch between daylight ('D65') or tungsten ('D32') emulation by clicking the right-hand knob. Brightness is adjusted with the left-hand knob. The 'Source Match' option allows selection of real-world sampled lighting sources.
