Connections

Connecting to an AC Outlet

  1. Connect the camera to an AC outlet using the supplied AC power adaptor and power cord. The camera powers on, and the POWER indicator lights up. The camera will automatically pan and tilt to its stored memory position.
  2. Turn on peripheral devices.

CAUTION: This camera has no power switch. Install a circuit breaker in the fixed wiring or use a readily accessible power outlet for easy power disconnection during operation. Turn off the circuit breaker or unplug the unit in case of abnormalities.

Note: Do not turn off the camera immediately after powering it on. Wait at least five minutes before powering off.

IP Remote Controller Connection

Select VISCA connection to the remote controller via the "Network" menu in "Setting" on the Web browser. Refer to the User's Guide for details.

Serial RS-422 Connection

Use the VISCA RS-422 connectors to connect the RM-IP10 IP remote controller. This connection supports distances up to 1,200 m (3,937 feet). Prepare the connecting cable using the supplied RS-422 connector plugs. Refer to the VISCA RS-422 connector pin assignments in "Location and Function of Part" for cable preparation.

Notes:

  • Set the communication speed via the "PTZF control" menu in "Setting" on the Web browser when using the VISCA RS-422 connection.
  • When connecting via VISCA RS-422, ensure "RS-422" is selected for the BOTTOM switch on the remote controller and that the communication speed settings match.

LAN Connection

Connect the camera's LAN port to the remote controller using a commercial network cable. A router or hub can also be connected in the network.

Notes:

  • When connecting via LAN, ensure "LAN" is selected for the BOTTOM switch on the remote controller.
  • Use a shielded twisted pair network cable (category 5 or higher) for LAN control.

SDI Connection

Output camera images from the SDI output connector to monitors with SDI input connectors using a coaxial cable.

Note: Select an SDI video format via a Web browser according to the HD monitor's specifications. Refer to the User's Guide for details.

Connecting to a Network

Connect the camera's LAN port to a network router or hub using a commercial network cable (category 5 or higher, 10BASE-T or 100BASE-TX compatible).

Assigning the IP Address

  1. Download the "SNC toolbox" installer from: https://pro.sony.com/bbsc/ssr/cat-camerasptz/
  2. Install SNC toolbox by decompressing the downloaded zip file and running "SncToolbox_Setup.exe". Refer to the Application Guide for installation and usage details.
  3. Assign an IP address using the installed SNC toolbox. Refer to the Application Guide for detailed instructions.

Tip: SNC toolbox stands for Sony Network Camera toolbox.

Installation

Installing the Camera on a Desk

Place the camera on a flat surface. If placing on an inclined surface, ensure the inclination is less than 15 degrees to guarantee pan/tilt performance and prevent falling.

Notes:

  • Do not grasp the camera head when carrying it.
  • Do not turn the camera head by hand, as this may cause malfunction.

Attaching the Camera to a Tripod

Use a screw with a protruding length from the mounting surface (refer to diagram) for the tripod screw hole and tighten firmly with a screwdriver.

Caution: Tripod screws and holes are for tripod mounting only, not for high-position installations like ceilings or shelves.

Installing the Camera Using the M3 Fixing Screw Holes

Attach the camera using the three M3 fixing screw holes on the bottom. Use M3 fixing screws with appropriate protruding length and attach to a flat surface, tightening securely.

Installing the Unit on the Ceiling

Use the ceiling bracket (A, B), wire rope, and retaining screws to attach the camera to the ceiling, potentially utilizing existing junction boxes. Ensure installation is on a level ceiling. If installing on a sloping or uneven ceiling, ensure the location is within 15 degrees of horizontal.

Cautions:

  • Entrust ceiling installations to experienced contractors.
  • Ensure installation location and components are strong enough to support the unit and bracket. Insufficient strength may lead to falling and injury.
  • Always install the supplied wire rope to prevent falling.
  • Periodically check for loosened connections, especially in high locations. Increase frequency if conditions warrant.

Before installation: Prepare holes for the junction box and cables after deciding the camera's shooting direction.

Note: Connecting cables cannot pass through ceiling bracket (A). A wiring hole is required in the ceiling behind the unit.

Installation Steps (Ceiling Mount)

  1. Attach the wire rope to the junction box in the ceiling using a screw hole and screw (not supplied).
  2. If the wire cannot be attached to the junction box, attach it to the ceiling bracket (B) as shown.
  3. Attach the ceiling bracket (B) to the junction box on the ceiling. Align bracket holes with junction box holes and use appropriate screws (not supplied). Use the elongated holes on the rounded edges of bracket (B) for positioning the camera front.
  4. Attach the ceiling bracket (A) to the bottom of the camera using the three supplied M3 x 8 screws. Align holes and tighten screws incrementally in the illustrated order, then securely tighten all.

Note: Use only supplied screws for assembly to avoid damage.

  1. Attach the wire rope to ceiling bracket (A) using the supplied M3 x 8 screws.
  2. Insert the protrusions on ceiling bracket (A) into the spaces on ceiling bracket (B) and temporarily attach by pushing bracket (A) rearward.
  3. While pushing the camera front up, attach it with the three supplied M3 x 8 screws, starting with the screw at position .
  4. Connect cables to the rear camera connectors.

Note: Ensure cable load does not cause issues.

  1. Change the Eflip function setting via a Web browser to match the ceiling installation.

Note: Changing the Eflip function resets preset settings. Set Eflip before presetting.

Removing the Camera

  1. Remove the three screws used to attach the camera in step 7 of "Installation".
  2. Push the camera up towards the ceiling and slide it forward to disengage the hooks and remove it.
