Getting Started
Before You Begin:
- Register your car seat for important safety updates.
- Familiarize yourself with the car seat's features by reviewing Section 2-A.
- Determine the correct seating location in your vehicle, prioritizing the back seat as the safest option.
- Understand the installation methods: LATCH system or vehicle seat belt. Never use both simultaneously.
Installation Methods:
- LATCH System: Consists of lower anchors and top tether anchors built into your vehicle. Ensure your vehicle's LATCH anchor spacing is compatible (11 inches / 28 cm).
- Vehicle Seat Belt: Learn how to properly install using your vehicle's lap/shoulder seat belt or lap-only seat belt.
Child Fit and Security
Ensure your child is properly secured by adjusting the harness height, buckle position, and harness tightness according to the instructions for both rear-facing and forward-facing modes.
For Rear-Facing:
- Harness straps should be at or just below the child's shoulders.
- Top of head must be at least 1" (2.5 cm) below the headrest adjustment lever.
- Buckle position should be the closest slot to the child without being underneath them.
- Harness tightness is correct if fingers slide off the straps without pinching.
For Forward-Facing:
- Harness straps should be at or just above the child's shoulders and top of child's ears below the top of the headrest.
- The crotch strap must be in the front-most slot.
- Harness tightness is confirmed by the finger-slide test.

Refer to Section 9 for instructions on cleaning the seat pad, crotch buckle, and harness and LATCH straps.
