Basic Instructions for Fur Care
Best Conditions for Clipping: Prepare a stable and non-slip work area on a table. Get your pet/your dog acquainted to the clipper:
Step 1: Switch the device on while feeding or playing for several days before the clipping. That way, your pet can get used to the sound first and connect it to something positive.
Step 2: Get your pet used to the vibration. For this, hold the device gently to your pet's head with the blades pointing away from your pet. If your pet wants to sniff the device, allow this.
Information:
- Play with your pet/dog and speak to it. The clipping should be fun for you both. Should your pet be nervous or afraid, postpone the clipping to another day.
- Bathe your pet/dog. Please only use dog shampoo from pet specialist shops (e.g. item 29195). Dry your pet's coat completely, if necessary with a hair dryer (always in the direction of the hair growth).
- Comb the coat and remove severe mats and tangles. Thorough brushing is extremely important. It helps your pet/dog to relax and removes the last tangles from the coat. Start by using a wide-tooth comb and continue with a finer soft brush (e.g. item 24132).
Oil the blade set before, while and after clipping. Otherwise your right to claim under guarantee becomes invalid!
Charging the Battery
This cordless clipper may still have power left in the battery when you receive the device. The battery can be fully charged in 3-4 hours. Please disconnect the device from the charging adapter after the battery is fully charged to preserve the lifespan of the battery.
Charging Process:
- Connect the clipper to a suitable mains plug using the USB cable.
- Leave the device switched off when you plug the adapter into the mains socket. The display indicates the charging process.
- When the battery is fully charged after approx. 3-4 hours, remove the plug from the mains socket.
Usage
You can use the clipper either without or with an attachment comb, depending on the desired length.
If the battery runs out, you can power it via the adapter with a cable to groom your pet in a limited area.
Changing Blade and Comb
Make sure that the appliance is switched off when you change the blade or comb to avoid injury.
Changing the Blade
- Remove: Remove the two screws from the shearing head.
- Insert: Insert the new shearing head and screw it back on. If necessary, clean the clipper in the area underneath the shearing head beforehand.
Adjusting the Cutting Length
There are two ways to adjust the cutting length. On the one hand, it can be adjusted using the lever on the clipper (0.3/1/2/3 mm), or the 4 attachment combs can be used to adjust the cutting length (3/6/9/12 mm).
Clipping the Pet
- Legs and Paws: Comb the leg hair and cut off long fur first. Lift the pet's legs carefully but firmly and hold them straight out in front. Do not bend the legs into an uncomfortable position. Please be particularly careful when clipping the fur on the paws.
- Head: Lift the pet's mouth, hold it still and shear in the direction of hair growth. Shear the muzzle by starting on the bridge of the nose. Once the clipping is complete, use scissors for the finishing touches. Please note that clipping the vibrissae (tactile hairs) is contrary to animal welfare, which is why we strongly advise against it!
- Body: Shear with the direction of hair growth. Be particularly careful on sensitive areas of the body and where there is little space. If your dog has a lot of loose skin, tighten it lightly with the hand that is not holding the clippers.
Safety Warnings
Caution:
- This clipper is not waterproof, so please do not clip your pet during a bath.
- Never attempt to shear thickly matted fur. This wears down the blade and shortens the lifespan of the clipper.
- For optimum results, it is important to oil the clipper head regularly, even during the clipping process.
