Safety Considerations
Installation and servicing of air-conditioning equipment can be hazardous due to system pressure and electrical components. Only trained and qualified service personnel should install, repair, or service air-conditioning equipment.
Untrained personnel can perform the basic maintenance functions of replacing filters. All other operations should be performed by trained service personnel. When working on air-conditioning equipment, observe precautions in the literature, tags and labels attached to the unit, and other safety precautions that may apply.
WARNING
⚠️ To prevent injuries and rain damage, do not leave roof opening uncovered. If installation is not completed immediately after roof opening is cut and framed, provide an adequate temporary cover for the roof opening.
Installation
- Before installing curb:
- Verify curb usage on Table 1. Ensure the curb part number matches the unit configuration.
- Verify all curb parts have been received per Tables 2 and 3.
- Ensure that curb is located so that proper service clearances are maintained on the unit. Check unit certified drawing or unit installation instructions for clearances.
- Ensure that curb can be installed within leveling tolerances. See Unit Leveling Tolerances in Fig. 1-5 for acceptable slope of unit.
- Cut hole in roof for cross openings. See Fig. 1-5 for cross opening dimensions in curb. Do not cut out entire area underneath curb.
- Frame the roof opening to provide adequate structural support.
- Assemble the curb sides using the joining brackets and corner brackets as shown in Fig.6. Corner brackets (see Fig.7) are used in 4 corners plus are installed back to back where attached to cross supports (see Fig. 8).
- Attach the curb side assembly to the curb ends using the corner brackets as shown in Fig. 1 and 2.
- Screw the cross supports in place on the curb sides as shown in Fig. 1-5.
- Screw the supply support in place between the cross supports as shown in Fig. 1-5.
- Make sure the curb is square by measuring (equal distances) the cross corners. Once square attach curb to building structure following all applicable codes.
- Roof-in curb per Fig. 1. Follow all applicable codes.
- Install provided gasketing around complete perimeter of curb and around supply and return cross opening in curb.

Diagrams and Leveling Tolerances
Unit Leveling Tolerances
A table shows acceptable slopes for unit installation. Column A represents the slope from the condenser and compressor end, with values for degrees (Deg.) and inches (in.). Column B represents the slope from the other condenser and compressor end, also with values for degrees and inches. The note indicates measurements are from the edge of the unit to horizontal.
IMPORTANT: Gasketing is critical for water integrity. Improperly installed gasketing can result in air leaks and poor unit performance.
Curb Assembly Diagrams (Fig. 1-5)
These figures illustrate the assembled roof curb, showing its rectangular structure with internal supports. Key components labeled include Curb Ends, Curb Sides, Cross Supports, Supply opening, Return opening, Supply Support, Splice Plate, and Corner Brackets. Dimensions are provided in both inches and millimeters. The figures also show a detailed cross-section of the base rail and indicate that the curbs are shipped knocked down. Figure 2 specifically lists leveling tolerances for various part numbers.
