6-Bit Digital Electronic Clock DIY Kit
I. Introduction
This is a 6-Bit Digital Electronic Clock DIY Kit. It integrates six functions: time, alarm clock, calibration, countdown, stopwatch, and counter. Users can set the alarm according to their needs. It is easy to operate, has a beautiful design, and is very suitable for home or office environments.
II. Features
- Time Display/Calibrate: Displays time and supports calibration.
- Alarm Clock: Built-in alarm clocks. Users can turn them ON or OFF as needed.
- Countdown: Set the countdown as required. Maximum time is 99:59:59.
- Stopwatch: Records minutes and seconds after starting. Maximum time is 99:59:59.
- Counter: Can also serve as a counter with a range of 0~999999.
- DIY Hand Soldering: This is a DIY kit that comes with various components. Users need to install each component by hand. It not only exercises and improves soldering skills but also increases interest in electronic technology. Great for electronics hobbyists, beginners, school, and home education.

Note: Users can complete the installation according to the PCB silk screen and component list.
V. Set Method
Button Description: S1 is Function SET Button, S2 is Function Select Button, S3 is Add Value Button.
Operating Instructions: Click S1 Button to enter the parameter setting state. Save and exit the setting mode when pressed for the 6th time. Or keep pressing S1 button for 2 seconds to save and exit.
- Display Time: Default display 10:10:00 after power ON.
- Calibrate Time:
- Click S1 for the 1st time to calibrate the display time.
- The display flashes automatically.
- Click S2 to increase the value by 1 for the hour bit. Click S3 to increase the value by 1 for the minute. Note: Decreasing parameter values is not supported. Values reset to 0 if they exceed 59.
- Alarm Clock:
- Click S1 for the 2nd time to set the Alarm Clock.
- The display flashes automatically and shows 22:10:00, with 4 LEDs lit.
- Click S2 to increase the value by 1 for the hour bit. Click S3 to increase the value by 1 for the minute. The second cannot be changed.
- If the display shows '--:--:--', the Alarm Clock function is turned OFF.
- The alarm is a buzzer that lasts for 3 seconds.
- Countdown:
- Click S1 for the 3rd time to set the Countdown.
- Default display is 0. Click S2 to cycle through bits from low to high.
- Click S3 to increase the value by 1 for the highest bit. Note: Set the low value first, then the high value.
- Click S2 for the seventh time to start the countdown.
- Click S2 again to stop the countdown and return to set mode.
- Stopwatch:
- Click S1 for the 4th time to set the Stopwatch.
- The display shows 00:00:00 and 4 LEDs remain ON.
- Click S2 button to start the Stopwatch and click again to stop.
- Click S3 button to clear the stopwatch time when it is stopped.
- Counter:
- Click S1 for the 5th time to set the Counter.
- The display shows 00:00:00.
- Click S2 to increase the value by 1.
- Click S3 button to clear the counter time.
VI. Auxiliary Functions
- J3 Socket: This is a buzzer alarm output terminal. It can output a high-level signal when alarming.
- J2 Socket: This is the buzzer control port. Users can input a controller from another MCU or sensor to control the alarm.
- J1 KF-301-2P Terminal: Input work voltage.
- DC-005 Socket: Input work voltage.
VII. Schematic
A schematic diagram is provided, illustrating the connections between components such as the AT89C2051 microcontroller, crystal oscillator, resistors, capacitors, LEDs, digital tubes, transistors, voltage regulator, buzzer, and buttons. The diagram shows power connections (VCC, GND) and signal paths.
VIII. Note
- It does not support the time memory function, so it needs to be recalibrated every time the power is turned on.
- Users can choose any power supply mode.

X. Installation Tips
- Users need to prepare soldering tools first.
- Please be patient until the installation is complete.
- The package is a DIY kit; installation must be finished by the user.
- The soldering iron should not touch components for a long time (more than 1.0 second), otherwise, it may damage the components.
- Pay attention to the positive and negative terminals of components.
- Strictly prohibit short circuits.
- Install complex components preferentially.
- Ensure all components are in the correct direction and position.
- Wear anti-static gloves or anti-static wristbands when installing electronic components.
- It is strongly recommended to read the installation manual before starting installation.
XI. Installation Steps
Step 1: Install 9pcs 1Kohm Metal Film Resistors at R1, R2, R11-R17.
Step 2: Install 7pcs 220ohm Metal Film Resistors at R4-R10.
Step 3: Install 1pc 10Kohm Metal Film Resistor at R3.
Step 4: Install 1pc 5.1Kohm Metal Film Resistor at R18.
Step 5: Install 1pc 12MHz Crystal Oscillator at Y1.
Step 6: Install 1pc DIP-20 IC Socket at U1. There is a gap mark on one end of the IC Socket and a corresponding gap mark on the PCB silk screen where the IC Socket can be placed. These marks indicate the installation direction.
Step 7: Install 2pcs 0.1uF 104 Ceramic Capacitors at C1, C4.
Step 8: Install 2pcs 30pF Ceramic Capacitors at C5, C6.
Step 9: Install 3pcs 6*6mm Buttons at S1-S3.
Step 10: Install 2pcs White XH2.54mm-2P Sockets at J2, J3.
Step 11: Install 4pcs 3mm Red LEDs at LED1-LED4. Pay attention to the installation direction; the longer pin is the positive pin and connects to the '+' pad.
Step 12: Install 7pcs TO-92 S8550 Transistors at Q1-Q7. Pay attention to the installation direction; the arc on the PCB corresponds to the arc of the components.
Step 13: Install 1pc Blue KF-301-2P Screw Terminal at J1.
Step 14: Install 1pc Active Buzzer at SPEAKER. Note: The marked '+' pin is the positive pin and connects to the '+' pad.
Step 15: Install 1pc TO-92 78L05 Voltage Regulator at 78L05. Pay attention to the installation direction; the arc on the PCB corresponds to the arc of the components.
Step 16: Install 2pcs 10uF/25V Electrolytic Capacitors at C2, C3. Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative poles. The longer pin is the positive pole and connects to the '+' pad.
Step 17: Install 3pcs 0.36in 2Bit Red Digital Tubes at SMG1-SMG3. Pay attention to the installation direction of the decimal point.
Step 18: Connect the two pads at 'L1' using metal wire cut from an LED or resistor.
Step 19: Install 1pc DIP-20 AT89C2051 Controller at U1. There is a gap mark on one end of the IC and a corresponding gap mark on the DIP-20 IC Socket where the IC can be placed. These marks indicate the installation direction of the IC.
