Sound Controlled LED Flashing Glasses DIY Kit
Introduction
It is a Sound Controlled LED Flashing Glasses DIY Kit with LED automatic flashing effects. It has a built-in mini microphone which can make the LED flashing with ambient sound volume. The higher the ambient volume, the more LED are lit. The ambient volume keeps changing, and the LED flickering effect is more obvious.
It can be used for holidays, events, celebrations and parties, etc. It can be used to create a festive atmosphere.
It is a very interesting DIY electronic product which enables users to understand the circuit more clearly and learn welding skills.

Schematic
The circuit diagram illustrates the connections for the Sound Controlled LED Flashing Glasses DIY Kit. It features the KA2284 LED Driver (U1), various resistors (R1-R9), capacitors (C1-C3), a microphone (MK1), a transistor (Q1), a toggle switch (S1), and 50 LEDs (D1-D50), all powered by a 12V source.
Installation Tips
- User needs to prepare the welding tool at first.
- Please be patient until the installation is complete.
- The package is a DIY kit; it needs to be finished by the user.
- The soldering iron cannot touch the components for a long time (3s), otherwise, it may damage components.
- Pay attention to the positive and negative poles of the components.
- Strictly prohibit short circuits.
- Users must install the LEDs according to the specified rules; otherwise, some LEDs will not light.
- Install complex components preferentially.
- Make sure all components are in the right direction and right place.
- Check that all of the LEDs can be illuminated.
- It is strongly recommended to read the installation manual before starting installation!!!
- Please wear anti-static gloves or anti-static wristbands when installing electronic components.
Installation Steps
- Step 1: Install 1pcs 2Mohm Metal Film Resistor at R8. The accompanying image shows the PCB with component R8 highlighted for installation.
- Step 2: Install 3pcs 10Kohm Metal Film Resistors at R6, R7, R9. The image highlights these resistors on the PCB.
- Step 3: Install 5pcs 1Kohm Metal Film Resistors at R1-R5. The image shows these resistors on the PCB.
- Step 4: Install 1pcs MIC-6022 Microphone at MK1. Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative poles. The image shows the microphone placement on the PCB.
- Step 5: Identify the positive(anode) and negative(cathode) lead of LED. The leads must be installed correctly, otherwise the LED cannot be turned on. Here are four methods: 5.1. Lead length: The longer pin is the positive(anode) lead; the shorter pin is the negative(cathode) lead. 5.2. Plastic case: The negative(cathode) is much thicker/bigger inside the plastic case than the anode lead. 5.3. Plastic case edge: The negative(cathode) lead of the LED should be the pin nearest the flat on the plastic case. 5.4. Testing: Use a 3V battery or multimeter; the pin that connects to the positive of the 3V supply and lights the LED is the positive(anode) lead. (Note: LED should not be powered directly from 3V for more than 0.5 seconds). 5.5. PCB marking: The '+' symbol on the PCB indicates the positive side. The accompanying images visually demonstrate these LED polarity identification methods.
- Step 6: Install 50pcs 3mm LEDs at D1-D50. Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative poles. The image shows the LED placement on the PCB.
- Step 7: Install 1pcs 0.1uF 104 Ceramic Capacitor at C3. The image highlights C3 on the PCB.
- Step 8: Install 1pcs ZIP-9 KA2284 LED Driver at U1. Pay attention to the mounting direction as shown in the image, which indicates the correct orientation for U1.
- Step 9: Install 1pcs TO-92 S9014 Transistor at Q1. Pay attention to the mounting direction as shown in the image, which indicates the correct orientation for Q1.
- Step 10: Install 2pcs 10uF Electrolytic Capacitors at C1, C2. Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative poles; the longer pin is the positive pole. The image highlights C1 and C2 on the PCB.
- Step 11: Install 1pcs 10Kohm 103 Potentiometer at RP1. The image shows RP1 on the PCB.
- Step 12: Install 1pcs 5Pin SK12D07 Toggle Switch at S1 on the PCB. The image highlights S1 on the PCB.
- Step 13: Install 2pcs battery holder positive metal sheets. Pay attention to placement. The image shows the positive metal sheets and their placement on the PCB.
- Step 14: Install 2pcs battery holder negative metal sheets. Pay attention to placement. The image shows the negative metal sheets (with springs) and their placement on the PCB.
- Step 15: Put the PCB into the silver mirror frame and pay attention to the toggle switch. The image shows the PCB being fitted into the frame.
- Step 16: Fix the PCB using 8pcs Black PA1.5*5 Screws. The image shows the PCB secured with screws.
- Step 17: Install 2pcs 23A 12V Batteries. Pay attention to distinguish between positive and negative poles. The negative pole connects to the spring metal sheet. The image shows the batteries installed.
- Step 18: Turn ON work power and adjust sound sensing sensitivity to enjoy these LED Flashing Glasses. The final image shows the assembled and functional glasses.
