This document provides essential safety information and operating instructions for STIHL AP series batteries. Please read and understand all instructions before use.

Batteries with Bluetooth® are equipped with a radio interface. Local operating restrictions (e.g., in aircraft or hospitals) must be observed.

2.2 Battery Overview

1 Battery

The battery supplies energy to the battery-powered product.

2 LED

The LEDs indicate the battery charge status and faults.

3 Button

The button activates the LEDs on the battery. It activates and deactivates the Bluetooth® radio interface (if available).

STIHL AP batteries supply energy to STIHL battery-powered products or battery-powered products approved for STIHL AP batteries from other manufacturers.

The battery can be used in the rain.

The battery is charged with STIHL AL 101, AL 301, AL 301-4, or AL 501 chargers.

Batteries with Bluetooth® allow personalization and transfer of battery information via Bluetooth® with the STIHL connected app.

The battery is in a safe condition if the following conditions are met:

5 Charging the Battery and LEDs

5.1 Charging the Battery

Charging time depends on various factors, such as battery temperature and ambient temperature. For optimal performance, observe the recommended temperature ranges (see section 15.3). Actual charging time may vary.

Charging times are available at www.stihl.com/charging-times.

Charge the battery as described in the operating manual for STIHL AL 101, 301, 301-4, 501 chargers.

5.2 Displaying Charge Status

Press the button (1). The LEDs light up green for approximately 5 seconds and display the charge status.

If the right LED flashes green: Charge the battery.

5.3 LEDs on the Battery

The LEDs can indicate the battery charge status or faults. The LEDs can light up or flash green or red.

If the LEDs light up or flash green: Charge status is displayed.

If the LEDs light up or flash red: Eliminate faults (see section 14). There is a fault in the battery-powered product or the battery.

6 Bluetooth® Radio Interface

6.1 Activating the Bluetooth® Radio Interface

If the battery has a Bluetooth® radio interface: Press and hold the button until the "BLUETOOTH®" indicator light next to the symbol lights up blue for approximately 3 seconds. The Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery is activated.

6.2 Deactivating the Bluetooth® Radio Interface

If the battery has a Bluetooth® radio interface: Press and hold the button until the "BLUETOOTH®" indicator light next to the symbol flashes blue six times. The Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery is deactivated.

6.3 Connecting the Battery via Bluetooth® to the STIHL connected App

Contact and further information can be found at https://support.stihl.com or in the STIHL connected app. The STIHL connected app is available depending on the market.

6.4 Resetting Battery Bluetooth® Settings (AP 200.0 S, 300 S, 300.0 S, 500.0 S only)

Resetting the battery's factory settings will erase all user-specific data.

7 Inserting and Removing the Battery

7.1 Inserting the Battery

Push the battery (1) into the battery compartment (2) until it locks in place. The battery (1) is secured with an audible click and is locked.

7.2 Removing the Battery

Press the locking lever (1). The battery (2) is unlocked and can be removed.

Press the button on the battery. The LEDs light up or flash. If the LEDs do not light up or flash: Do not use the battery and contact a STIHL dealer. There is a fault in the battery.

10 Transport

10.1 Transporting the Battery

The battery is subject to dangerous goods transport regulations. It is classified as UN 3480 (lithium-ion batteries) and has been tested according to the UN Manual of Tests and Criteria, Part III, Subsection 38.3. Transport regulations are available at www.stihl.com/safety-data-sheets.

11 Storage

11.1 Storing the Battery

STIHL recommends storing the battery at a charge level of 40% to 60% (2 green LEDs lit).

Clean the battery with a damp cloth.

13 Maintenance and Repair

13.1 Maintenance and Repair of the Battery

The battery does not require maintenance, and the user cannot repair it. If the battery is defective or damaged: Replace the battery.

14 Troubleshooting

14.1 Troubleshooting the Battery

Battery not detected by STIHL connected app.-Electrical connection between the battery-powered product and the battery is interrupted.Remove the battery. Clean the electrical contacts in the battery compartment. Insert the battery. Switch on the battery-powered product.
-Battery or battery-powered product is damp.Remove the battery. Allow the battery-powered product or battery to dry (see section 15.3).
-Battery is not fully charged.Fully charge the battery as described in the operating manual for STIHL AL 101, 301, 301-4, 501 chargers.
-Battery lifespan has been exceeded.Replace the battery.
-Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery or mobile device is deactivated.Activate the Bluetooth® radio interface on the battery and the mobile device.
-Distance between the battery and the mobile device is too great.Reduce the distance. If the STIHL connected app still cannot find the battery: Contact a STIHL dealer.

15.3 Recommended Temperature Ranges

For optimal battery performance, observe the following temperature ranges:

If the battery is charged, used, or stored outside the recommended temperature ranges, performance may be reduced.

If the battery is wet or damp, allow it to dry for at least 48 hours at temperatures between +15 °C and +50 °C and humidity below 70%. Higher humidity may extend drying time.

16 Disposal

16.1 Battery Disposal

Information on disposal is available from your local administration or STIHL dealer. Improper disposal can harm health and the environment.
