Installation Steps
Step 1: Install Wall Anchors
Insert the recommended wall anchors. It is recommended to use the provided anchors. Recommended drill bit size is 7/32 – 1/4-inch.
Step 2: Attach Optional Wall Cover
If desired, attach the optional wall cover to the wall plate to hide blemishes. Snap the wall plate to the optional wall cover before proceeding.
Step 3: Bundle and Insert Wires
Guide the wires through the clear rubber holder on the back of the wall plate. Do not remove the clear rubber wire holder.
Step 4: Set Jumper Switches
- R Jumper Switch: For single transformer systems, move the switch up. For dual transformer systems, move the switch down.
- Universal Jumper Switch (for humidifier, dehumidifier, or ventilation): For single wire products, set the switch to '1 Wire'. For two wire products, set the switch to '2 Wire'.
Step 5: Connect All Wires
Push each wire into its corresponding terminal until firmly in place. Gently tug on wires to verify they are secure. To release a wire, use a ballpoint pen to push down on the terminal.
Refer to the 'Wiring' section for detailed configurations.
Note: The illustration shows a common wiring configuration.
Step 6: Mount the Wall Plate
Mount the wall plate using the provided screws.
Step 7: Snap Thermostat into Place
Firmly snap the thermostat onto the wall plate. The thermostat will glow and display the Lyric screen for up to three minutes while it starts up.

Frequently Asked Questions
- Will Lyric still work if Wi-Fi connection is lost? Yes, some features, including shortcuts and geofencing, are managed via the Lyric app and will not function without a connection. Temperature can be adjusted directly at the thermostat. Lyric will automatically reconnect to Wi-Fi once the network is restored.
- Will Lyric work with a Static IP Address Network scheme? No, the router network must be set up for Dynamic Host Control Protocol (DHCP) for the thermostat to obtain an IP address. Consult the router's manual for setup instructions.
- What Wi-Fi security standards are compatible with Lyric?
- OPEN
- WEP_PSK
- WPA_TKIP_PSK
- WPA2_AES_PSK
- WPA2_MIXED_PSK
- Lyric is not finding the in-home Wi-Fi network. Lyric operates in the 2.4GHz range. Routers often broadcast two networks: one SSID on the 5GHz radio and one SSID on the 2.4GHz radio. Ensure your smartphone is connecting to the 2.4GHz network if Lyric is not visible.
- Can Lyric be used in a home that does not have Wi-Fi? Yes, Lyric can function as a basic thermostat without Wi-Fi. However, features like geofencing, Fine Tune, and Smart Cues require a Wi-Fi connection.
- Is Wi-Fi needed to control ventilation, humidity, or dehumidification? Yes, these features are managed through the Lyric app.
Troubleshooting
- Installation complete but screen shows 'Lyric' with circles: When power is first restored, the thermostat takes up to three minutes to start up. The display will show circles as it powers on, then a network name (e.g., 'Lyric Stat 03'). Touch 'OK' to begin configuration.
- Multiple users for geofencing: Yes, geofencing triggers based on the last person to leave and the first to return. Each user needs their own Lyric account and should use their login ID and password across devices. No two users should share the same account.
- How to set up multiple users: Access can be granted via the Lyric app. From the home screen, press the menu icon, then the gear wheel next to the location name. Select 'Users', then '+ Add User'. Enter the invitee's email address. If they have a Lyric account, the location is added automatically. If not, they receive an invitation to download the app and create an account. All users share the same privileges.
- Screen goes blank: The display enters sleep mode to conserve energy when no one is near. It can still be controlled via the Lyric app. A motion detector wakes the screen when someone approaches.
- App changes not showing on thermostat: There may be a short delay after making temperature or setting changes in the app.
- Message: Thermostat Power Lost: Indicates power to the thermostat has been interrupted. Confirm the heating and cooling system is powered. If power is normal but the thermostat is offline, contact Lyric Technical Support at 1-800-633-3991.
- Message: Internet Connection Lost: The thermostat is connected to the router, but the router is not connected to the internet.
- Extend signal strength: Wi-Fi signal range depends on the homeowner's router. Consult the router's manual for more information.
- Message: Wi-Fi Signal Lost: The Wi-Fi signal is lost. Wait for reconnection or select a new network from the connection menu. If reconnection fails, troubleshoot the router.
- What happens if power goes out: Settings and shortcuts are stored and managed via the Lyric app. No reset is needed. The thermostat will resume operation automatically when power is restored.
- Thermostat showing as offline: This means the thermostat has lost network connection. Ensure the router is powered and broadcasting. Power cycling the router may be necessary. The thermostat will reconnect automatically when the network is restored.
- Activation email not received: An activation email from connected-Home@alarmnet.com is required for account setup. Check the spam folder if not received within five minutes. Use the 'Resend' button if needed. Contact Lyric Technical Support at 1-800-633-3991 if the email is still not received.
