iFi VALKYRIE Quick Start Guide
1 Power
The Multi-Function Dial controls power and volume. A USB-C port is available for battery charging. The LED for battery status indicates charge level: 80%-100% (Green), 26%-79% (Amber), ≤25% (Red), and Charging (Pulsing Green). To power on, short press the dial. To power off, long press the dial for 3 seconds.
2 Input
The iFi VALKYRIE offers multiple input options:
- USB-C Audio and Power Input: For digital audio and charging.
- S/PDIF (Optical/Coaxial) Input: For digital audio sources.
- Single-Ended 3.5mm Analogue Line Input/Output: For analogue audio sources or line output.
- Single-Ended 4.4mm Analogue Line Input/Balanced Output: For analogue audio sources or balanced line output.
Bluetooth Pairing: Connect wirelessly via Bluetooth. The device lists available devices and supports pairing. The Input LED indicates connection status: USB, Bluetooth, S/PDIF, Line (4.4mm/3.5mm). To initiate pairing, short press the button to select Bluetooth mode 1 and enter pairing mode, then select the music source on your device.
3 Output
The VALKYRIE provides various audio outputs:
- Balanced 4.4mm and MEMS Headphone Output: For balanced headphones.
- S-Balanced 3.5mm Headphone Output: For standard headphones.
- RCA Analogue Line Output: For connecting to amplifiers or active speakers.
- Single-Ended 3.5mm Analogue Line Output: Another option for line output.
The display shows Output Frequency, sample rate (e.g., 44kHz, 96kHz, DSD512), and audio status (e.g., Bit Perfect, 22MHz, XSpace, XPresence, Bass).
4 Channel Selection
Use the Input Selector/K2 Technology button to choose your audio source. Options include Bluetooth, Coaxial, Optical, USB, and Line In. Short press the button to cycle through these input channels.
5 Audio Modes
Customize your listening experience with various audio modes:
- XSpace Matrix: Toggle On/Off by short pressing the button.
- XBass II and XPresence: Adjust these settings by short pressing the button.
- Power Output Levels: Long press the button for three power output levels to drive different headphones: Normal (0dB), Turbo (+8dB), and Nitro (+16dB).
Access advanced menu settings by long pressing the button and using the Multi-Function Dial for navigation.
6 Filters
The VALKYRIE features digital filters and DSD Remastering. The Audio Format LED indicates the sample rate (kHz) for PCM and DSD formats. Short press the button to cycle through six digital filter options: Bit-Perfect, GTO, Apodising, Transient Aligned, Standard, and Minimum. Long press the button for DSD Remastering, allowing selection between Off, DSD512, and DSD1024.
7 K2 Technology
Engage the K2 Technology for enhanced audio processing. Long press the Input Selector/K2 Technology button to cycle between K2 modes: Off, K2, and K2 HD. K2 Technology and K2HD are registered trademarks of JVCKENWOOD Corporation.
8 Analogue Volume Control
The Multi-Function Dial controls the analogue volume. The Volume LED provides visual feedback on the volume level, with indicators for Mute, Mute to 21, 22 to 41, 42 to 61, 80 to 97, and 98 to 100. Short press the dial to mute or unmute the audio. For a forced shutdown, long press the dial for 10 seconds or more.
9 iEMatch Switch
The iEMatch switch reduces the output level by -12dB. This feature ensures that even the most sensitive In-Ear-Monitors (IEMs) can be optimally matched to the iDSD Valkyrie. The switch has positions for Off, 3.5mm, and 4.4mm.
