Philips AquaClean Filter CA6903: User Guide and Instructions

Introduction

The AquaClean filter provides filtered water to protect your coffee machine and to ensure an intense taste and aroma of your coffee.

Important Information

Read this important information carefully before you use the AquaClean filter and save it for future reference.

Warning

  • The AquaClean filter is designed for use with direct safe drinking water and water from approved private supplies. If authorities instruct to boil municipal water, filtered water must also be boiled. When the instruction is lifted, clean the coffee machine and insert a new cartridge.
  • Clean the water tank regularly.
  • For certain groups (e.g., people with weakened immune systems and babies), boiling tap water is generally recommended. This also applies to filtered water.
  • For hygienic reasons, the AquaClean filter material is treated with silver. A small, harmless amount of silver may be released into the filtered water, complying with WHO recommendations for drinking water.
  • If you have kidney disease, are a dialysis patient, or follow a sodium-restricted diet, be aware that sodium content may slightly increase during filtration. Consult your doctor before using filtered water.
  • When descaling the coffee machine, always remove the AquaClean filter from the water tank. Thoroughly clean the water tank and replace the AquaClean filter.
  • Philips is not liable if these recommendations for use and replacement are not followed.

Caution

  • Store replacement AquaClean filters in a cool, dry place in their original, sealed packaging.
  • As water is a foodstuff, use the water in the tank within 1 to 2 days.
  • If the coffee machine has not been used for a prolonged period (e.g., holiday, over 3 months since installation, or when a new filter is needed), follow the procedure in the 'Preparing for use' chapter.

Preparing for Use

  1. Remove the AquaClean filter from its packaging. Shake the filter for about 5 seconds (refer to Figure 1).
  2. Immerse the filter upside down in a jug with cold water and wait until no more air bubbles emerge (refer to Figure 2).
  3. Remove the water tank from the machine and insert the filter vertically onto the filter connection (refer to Figure 3). Press it down until it cannot move further.
  4. Fill the water tank with fresh clean water and place it back into the machine (refer to Figure 4).
  5. If the machine has a display, ensure the filter is activated in the machine menu. Follow the user instructions provided with the machine (refer to Figure 5).
    • Note: The claim 'Up to 5000 cups without descaling*' is valid only for machines with the AquaClean sticker on the water tank.* Actual cup count depends on coffee varieties, rinsing, and cleaning patterns, based on 8 filter replacements as indicated by the machines.
  6. To rinse the filter, let half a litre (0.5L) of water flow out from the dispensing spout or steam tube of the espresso machine. Discard this water (refer to Figure 6).
    • Note: If the coffee machine has not been used for a short period (e.g., 2 weeks), perform steps 1 to 4 with the installed AquaClean filter. Then dispense a cup of hot water (0.250 l).

The filter and machine are now ready for use.

Replacement

Replace the AquaClean filter at least every 3 months or when requested by the machine.
