Spedal SmartBox Wireless Adapter Quick Guide
This guide provides instructions for connecting your smartphone to your vehicle's display using the Spedal SmartBox wireless adapter for Apple CarPlay and Android Auto.
Compatibility Note
Before using the wireless adapter, ensure your smartphone is compatible with wired Apple CarPlay or Android Auto.
- Wireless CarPlay: Requires an iPhone 6 or a newer model with iOS 10 or higher.
- Wireless Android Auto: Requires an Android phone with version 11 or higher that supports the latest Android Auto features.
To verify your vehicle's compatibility with wired CarPlay or Android Auto:
- Connect your iPhone or Android smartphone to the vehicle using a USB data cable.
- Check if the CarPlay or Android Auto interface logo appears on the car's display screen.
For confirmation, refer to your vehicle manufacturer's compatibility list or contact them directly.

Connecting with Apple CarPlay
Follow these steps to establish a wireless CarPlay connection:
- Turn on your vehicle and wait for the system to fully load.
- Insert the Spedal SmartBox adapter into the vehicle's USB-A or USB-C port.
- Once the adapter is successfully connected, the vehicle's screen will display its Bluetooth name as "SmartBox-xxxx".
- On your iPhone, navigate to Settings and ensure Bluetooth and WLAN (Wi-Fi) are enabled.
- In the Bluetooth settings, locate and select the adapter named "SmartBox-xxxx" from the "OTHER DEVICES" list.
- Wait approximately 20-30 seconds. A "Bluetooth Pairing Request" notification will appear on your phone screen. Tap "Pair" to proceed.
- A dialog box will appear on your phone screen asking, "Use CarPlay with 'SmartBox-xxxx'?". Tap "Use CarPlay" to establish the connection between your phone and the adapter.
- After successful Bluetooth pairing and CarPlay connection, the car screen will automatically switch to CarPlay mode.
Connecting with Android Auto
Follow these steps to establish a wireless Android Auto connection:
- Turn on your vehicle and wait for the system to fully load.
- Insert the Spedal SmartBox adapter into the vehicle's USB-A or USB-C port.
- Once the adapter is successfully connected, the vehicle's screen will display its Bluetooth name as "SmartBox-xxxx".
- On your Android phone, navigate to Settings and ensure Bluetooth and WLAN (Wi-Fi) are enabled.
- In the Bluetooth settings, tap "Pair New Device" and select the adapter named "SmartBox-xxxx" from the "Available devices" list.
- Wait approximately 20-30 seconds. A dialog box will appear on your phone screen asking, "Pair with SmartBox-xxxx?". Tap "Pair" to establish the connection between your phone and the adapter.
- After successful Bluetooth pairing and Android Auto connection, the car screen will automatically switch to Android Auto mode.
Switching Between Phones
To connect a different phone to the adapter:
- On the currently connected phone, turn off both Bluetooth and WLAN.
- Unplug and then reinsert the adapter into the vehicle's USB port. (Important)
- On the new phone, turn on Bluetooth, search for, and pair with the adapter's Bluetooth name "SmartBox-xxxx".
- If the system prompts that Bluetooth is already in use, try pairing multiple times to complete the switch.
LED Light Status Indicators
- Alternating Red/Green or Red/Blue flashing: The adapter is powered on.
- Green light flashing: The adapter is connecting to CarPlay.
- Blue light flashing: The adapter is connecting to Android Auto.
- Rainbow light flashing: CarPlay or Android Auto has been successfully connected.
