Congratulations on choosing a Claypaky product! This manual provides essential information for the correct and safe installation, use, and servicing of the SHARPY fitting. Unpacking and Preparation

The package typically includes: Safety Information booklet, Guarantee card, Power cable, Lamp (189W, fitted into projector), and accessories such as 2 x 183102/805.

Installation and Start-up

The projector can be installed on the floor, on a truss, or on a ceiling/wall. A safety cable (Cod. 105041/003) is mandatory when the projector is not placed on the floor. It must be securely fixed to the support structure and connected to the projector's base fixing point.

Control Panel

Display and Controls

Button Functions:

  • OK (F): Confirms a value, activates a function, or enters the next menu item.
  • DOWN (C): Decreases a value or moves to the next item.
  • UP (B): Increases a value or moves to the previous item.
  • LEFT (D): Returns to the previous menu level.
  • RIGHT (E): Commutes between units, tens, and hundreds in address/calibration menus.

Using the Menu:

  1. Press OK to access the Main Menu.
  2. Use UP/DOWN to select a menu (Setup, Option, Information, Manual Control, Test, Advanced).
  3. Press OK to display the first item in the selected menu.
  4. Use UP/DOWN to select menu items.

Addresses and options can be set with the projector disconnected from power by pressing OK to activate the display.

Menu Setting

The menu structure is organized into several main categories:

  • Set Up: DMX Address, Channel Mode, Fixture ID, Ethernet Interface, Control Protocol, Repeat on DMX, Universe, Custom IP address/mask.
  • Option: Lamp DMX, Safety Black Out, Pan/Tilt Invert, Swap Pan-Tilt, Encoder Pan-Tilt, P/T Homing Mode, Pan/Tilt Home Def Pos, Color, Linear Movement, Shutter, Dimmer Filter Type, Display, Setting (presets).
  • Information: System Errors, Fixture Hours, Lamp Hours, Lamp Strikes, System Version, Board Diagnostic, DMX Monitor, Fans Monitor, Sensor Status, Network Parameters.
  • Manual Control: Lamp (On/Off), Reset, Channel (level setting).
  • Test: Pan-Tilt, Colour, Beam, Gobo, All effects.
  • Advanced: Access code (1234), Upload Firmware, Setup Model, Calibration, Factory Default, Menu Locking.

Setup Menu Details

DMX Address: Allows selection of the DMX address (1-512). The address flashes if no DMX signal is present.

Channel Mode: Select between 'Standard' and 'Vector' channel arrangements.

Fixture ID: Assigns an identification number (1-255) for easy fixture management.

Ethernet Interface: Configures network settings. Options include selecting the 'Ethernet Interface' (e.g., Art-net on IP 2, IP 10, Custom IP).

Control Protocol: Sets the control protocol, such as Art-net. If disabled, IP addresses are initialized immediately. If enabled and a new IP is selected, a restart is required.

Repeat on DMX: Enables DMX signal transmission to connected projectors via Ethernet.

Universe: Assigns a universe number for projector series.

Custom IP Address/Mask: Manually set the IP address and subnet mask.

Options Menu Details

Lamp DMX: Enables or disables the lamp remote control channel.

Safety Black Out: Activates the dimmer's automatic lock after 3 seconds of no DMX signal.

Pan/Tilt Invert: Reverses the direction of Pan or Tilt movement.

Swap Pan-Tilt: Swaps the Pan and Tilt channels.

Encoder Pan-Tilt: Enables or disables the Pan/Tilt encoders.

P/T Homing Mode: Sets the projector reset mode (Standard or Sequenced).

Pan/Tilt Home Def Pos: Assigns the 'home' position for Pan and Tilt after reset.

Color: Options include Fixed Wheel Shortcut (optimizes color change time) and Linear Movement (enables linear movement of the color wheel).

Shutter: Shutter on error automatically closes the stop/strobe in case of Pan/Tilt position error.

Dimmer Filter Type: Optimizes the dimmer curve ('DMX follower' or 'Position dependent').

Display: Automatically reduces display brightness after idle time.

Setting: Allows saving and loading of up to 3 custom configurations (presets).

Information Menu Details

System Errors: Displays a list of warnings and error messages. The list can be reset.

Fixture Hours: Shows total and partial operating hours for the projector. Partial hours can be reset.

Lamp Hours: Displays total and partial operating hours for the lamp. Partial hours can be reset.

Lamp Strikes: Counts the number of times the lamp has been turned on (total and partial). Partial counts can be reset.

System Version: Displays software and hardware versions for projector boards.

Board Diagnostic: Shows the status error of each board.

DMX Monitor: Displays DMX channel level in bit and percentage.

Fans Monitor: Shows the speed of installed fans.

Sensor Status: Checks the correct operation of installed sensors.

Network Parameters: Displays IP address, IP mask, and MAC address.

Manual Control

Lamp: Turn the lamp On or Off from the control panel.

Reset: Resets the projector. A confirmation prompt appears.

Channel: Set channel levels (0-255) for specific projector channels.

Test Menu

Allows checking the proper functioning of effects. Select the required test (Pan-Tilt, Colour, Beam, Gobo, All effects) and press OK to confirm.

Advanced Menu

Access requires an 'Access code' (1234). Functions include:

  • Upload Firmware: Transfer firmware to connected fixtures.
  • Setup Model: Change the default projector model.
  • Calibration: Adjust effects for uniformity between projectors.
  • Factory Default: Restore default values for all channels.
  • Menu Locking: Set a password to lock menu access.

Caution: Fast lamp ON-OFF cycles reduce lamp life.

Cause and Solution of Problems

PROBLEMS POSSIBLE CAUSES CHECKS AND REMEDIES
THE PROJECTOR WILL NOT SWITCH ON No mains supply. Check the power supply voltage.
ELECTRONICS NON-OPERATIONAL Lamp exhausted or defective. Replace the lamp. (See instructions).
DEFECTIVE PROJECTION Signal transmission cable faulty or disconnected. Replace the cables.
REDUCED LUMINOSITY Incorrect addressing. Check addresses (see instructions).
Fault in the electronic circuits. Call an authorised technician.
Lenses or reflector broken Call an authorised technician.
Dust or grease deposited. Clean (see instructions).

Note: To prevent accidental breakage during transport, ensure all channels are at 0 bit (excluded) before switching off the projector.

DMX Channel Details

Detailed information on DMX channel functions, including BIT values and corresponding effects:

COLOUR WHEEL - channel 1

Controls color selection and rotation. Includes options for specific colors, CTO/CTB filters, and rotation speeds.

STOP/STROBE - channel 2

Manages strobe effects, including open, fast, medium, and slow strobes, as well as pulsations.

DIMMER - channel 3

Controls the dimmer intensity from 0% to 100%.

STATIC GOBO CHANGE - channel 4

Controls the selection and rotation of gobos. Includes options for static gobos, shake effects, and rotation speeds.

PRISM INSERTION - channel 5

Controls the insertion and exclusion of the prism effect.

PRISM ROTATION - channel 6

Manages prism rotation, including different angles and rotation speeds.

EFFECTS MOVEMENT - channel 7

Controls the speed of effects movement.

FROST - channel 8

Controls the frost effect insertion and intensity.

FOCUS - channel 9

Controls the focus of the beam, from near to distant.

PAN - channel 10

Provides fine control for Tilt movement.

FUNCTION - channel 14

Controls various functions like Dimmer Curve, Function, and Pan-Tilt Function, with different modes (Free, Linear, Conventional, Normal, Fast).

RESET - channel 15

Initiates resets for the projector, Pan/Tilt, or effects.

LAMP CONTROL - channel 16

Controls the lamp ON/OFF state. Note: SHARPY does not support hot restrike ignition.
