Philips Steam Generator Iron: Safety, Usage, and Warranty Information

Safety Precautions

Danger

Never immerse the appliance in water.

Warning

• Do not use if the plug, mains cord, steam supply hose, or the appliance itself shows visible damage, has been dropped, or is leaking. Contact Philips or an authorized service center for repair.
• Verify that the voltage indicated on the appliance matches your local mains voltage before connecting.
• Do not leave the appliance unattended when connected to the mains.
• This appliance can be used by children aged 8 and above, and by persons with reduced physical, sensory, or mental capabilities, or lack of experience and knowledge, if they have been given supervision or instructions for safe use and are aware of the hazards.
• Children aged 8 and over may only clean the appliance and perform descale or Calc-Clean procedures under supervision.
• Do not allow children to play with the appliance.
• Keep the iron and its mains cord out of reach of children aged 8 or under when the appliance is switched on or cooling down.
• Handle your iron carefully. Never direct steam towards people or animals, as the steam can cause burns.
• Ensure the mains cord and steam supply hose do not contact the hot soleplate of the iron.
• Keep fingers or hands away from the soleplate when steam is activated to avoid burns during ironing.

Caution: Hot Surface

Surfaces are liable to get hot during use (indicated by a 'hot' symbol on the appliance).

Caution

• Do not leave the appliance unattended during the Calc-Clean process.
• Descale or calc-clean the steam generator according to the instructions in the 'Cleaning and maintenance' chapter.
• Always perform the Calc-Clean process with the dedicated Calc-Clean container and do not interrupt the process.
• Do not let the iron rest on its heel during the Calc-Clean process, as hot water may be released.
• After the calc-clean process, the calc-clean container will be hot. Wait approximately 5 minutes for it to cool down before touching it.
• Use and place the appliance on a flat, heat-resistant surface. When placing the iron on its stand, ensure the surface is stable. The stand is the heel of the iron or the part where the iron rests when not in use.
• Connect the appliance only to an earthed wall socket.
• Fully unwind the mains cord before plugging it into the wall socket.
• The iron platform and soleplate can become extremely hot and may cause burns if touched. If you need to move the steam generator, do not touch the iron platform.
• When you have finished ironing, cleaning the appliance, filling or emptying the steam generator, or leaving the iron even for a short while: place the iron back on its stand, switch off the appliance, and remove the mains plug from the wall socket.
• Do not add perfumed water, water from tumble dryers, vinegar, starch, descaling agents, ironing aids, chemically descaled water, or other chemicals, as they may cause water leakage, brown staining, or damage to your appliance.
• The plug must only be connected to a socket with the same technical characteristics as the plug.
• This appliance is intended for household use only.

Electromagnetic Fields (EMF)

This appliance complies with applicable standards and regulations regarding exposure to electromagnetic fields.

Recycling

Do not dispose of the product with normal household waste at the end of its life. Hand it in at an official collection point for recycling. This helps to preserve the environment.

Follow your country's rules for the separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Correct disposal helps prevent negative consequences for the environment and human health.
