Accu-Chek Instant Quick Start Guide

Meter Overview
- 1 Up Button and Down Button: Used for navigation and adjustments.
- 2 Display: Shows test results, time, date, and error messages.
- 3 Target Range Indicator: Visually indicates if your result is within your target range.
- 4 Micro USB Port: For charging or data transfer (if applicable).
- 5 Test Strip Ejector: Safely removes used test strips.
- 6 Battery Door: Provides access to the battery compartment.
- 7 Test Strip Slot: Where the test strip is inserted.
Setting the Time and Date
The meter prompts you to set the time and date upon first use.
- The display will show "set-up" with the hour flashing. Press the Up (▲) or Down (▼) button to adjust the hour.
- Press and hold the Up (▲) button to set the hour and move to the next field (minutes, day, month, year).
- Repeat step 2 for each field. After setting the year, press and hold the Up (▲) button until the flashing test strip symbol appears to save your settings.
Setting Up the Lancing Device
Familiarize yourself with the Accu-Chek Softclix lancing device.
- Remove the lancing device cap by pulling it straight off (do not twist).
- Insert a lancet into the lancing device until it clicks.
- Twist off the lancet's protective cap.
- Place the cap back on the lancing device, aligning the notches.
- Adjust the lancet depth to a comfortable penetration level. Start with '2' and increase for tougher skin.
- Press the priming button in as far as it will go (like a pen). Do not press the release button while priming. The release button will turn yellow when ready.
Performing a Blood Glucose Test
- Wash and dry your hands thoroughly.
- Remove a test strip from the container and close the cap tightly. Check the use-by date.
- Insert the metallic end of the test strip into the meter. The meter will turn on, and a flashing drop symbol will appear.
- Press the lancing device firmly against the side of your fingertip and press the yellow release button to prick your finger.
- Touch the yellow edge of the test strip to the blood drop. Do not apply blood on top of the test strip.
- Remove your finger from the test strip when the flashing hourglass symbol appears.
The test result will appear on the display in less than 4 seconds.
Before You Finish
- Remove the lancing device cap.
- Point the lancet away from you.
- Slide out the ejector to release the lancet.
Note: Always have a spare set of batteries. Battery life may vary.
