Pre-Flight Preparations
Download & Installation (HS FLY App)
The drone supports a Live-Feed function via the "HS FLY" app. Scan the QR code (or search app store) for iOS (11.0 or above) or Android (5.1 or above) to download.
Camera Cover
Loosen the buckle on the camera cover, then gently pull it up and towards the front of the drone to remove. Ensure the camera cover is removed before turning on the drone.
Drone Battery Installation/Removal
- Installation: Push the battery into the fuselage until you hear a click, indicating it's firmly installed.
- Removal: Press down on the snap and pull the battery out.
Warning: Ensure the battery is firmly installed to prevent crashes due to power-cuts. Only install/remove the battery when the drone is powered off.
Arms
The drone's arms are folded for packaging. First, unfold the front arms, then the rear arms.
Propeller Installation/Removal
- Installation: Install marked propellers to marked motor shafts and unmarked propellers to unmarked motor shafts. Use the screwdriver to tighten the two screws.
- Removal: Use the screwdriver to turn screws anti-clockwise, then pull propellers up.
Warning: Marked propellers have a different spin direction. Ensure correct installation. Check propellers for security and tightness before each flight. Replace deformed or damaged propellers.
TF Card
Insert a TF card (not included, max 128GB) into the TF card slot before turning on the drone.
Joysticks
Take the joysticks from their storage slots on the transmitter and mount them.
Flight Environment Requirements
Recommended Areas:
- Fly in open areas.
- Maintain line of sight with the drone.
- Fly below 394 ft (120 meters).
Areas to Avoid:
- Obstacles, crowds, high voltage power lines, trees, airports, bodies of water.
- Areas with magnetic or radio interference (power lines, mobile base stations, radar stations, broadcasting towers).
- Severe weather conditions: heavy wind, rain, snow, fog, hail, or lightning.
Pre-Flight Checklist
- Ensure transmitter, cellphone, and drone battery are fully charged.
- Ensure drone battery and propellers are installed securely.
- Ensure drone arms are fully expanded.
- Ensure nothing obstructs the motors.
- Ensure camera cover is removed.
- Use Holy Stone accessories.
Flight Pairing
Recommendation: Fly the drone in an open, outdoor area to avoid loss or damage. All operations in this manual are demonstrated using MODE 2.
- Turning on the drone: Long press the power switch. Place the drone on a level surface with its head pointing forward. The drone status indicator will blink red, waiting for pairing.
- Turning on the transmitter: Short press the power switch once, then hold it to turn on.
- Auto-Pairing: Pairing takes about 40 seconds. The transmitter will beep continuously during pairing and long beep once when complete. The drone status indicator will turn solid.
App Connection
- Cellphone connection: Pull out the cellphone holder on the transmitter and draw out the connection cable (Type-C is pre-installed; Micro-USB and Lightning cables are also provided). Connect the transmitter to the cellphone, ensuring the phone is secured in the holder.
- Run the "HS FLY" app and open the live-feed interface.
Android Users: When prompted, choose "charge only" for USB connection mode to avoid connection failure.
Compass Calibration
- Step 1: Push both joysticks towards the inner, upper corners simultaneously to start calibration.
- Step 2: Rotate the drone horizontally (keeping it parallel to the floor) until the transmitter beeps once.
- Step 3: Point the drone's head upward and rotate it until the transmitter beeps again. The drone indicator will turn solid blue, indicating calibration is complete.
Unlocking the Motors
Push both joysticks simultaneously towards the inner, lower corners. The motors will start to spin, and the drone is unlocked.
Locking: If no command is given, motors will lock automatically after 20 seconds. Joysticks can also be pushed to inner corners to manually lock them.
Takeoff/Landing
- Takeoff: Short press the Takeoff/Landing button. The drone will slowly take off. Control with joysticks.
- Landing: When in the air, short press the Takeoff/Landing button. The drone will slowly descend to the ground.
Weak GPS: If GPS reception is weak (drone indicator flashes blue slowly), hold the Takeoff/Landing button for 2 seconds to exit GPS mode. The drone indicator will flash blue quickly, and LCD will display "ATTI MODE." Drone can take off in attitude mode, but GPS-related functions are unavailable.
Product Functions
Camera Adjustment & Zoom
- Camera Adjustment: Adjust the camera angle by scrolling the camera adjustment dial (tilt range: -90° to 0°).
- Zoom: Scroll the zoom dial to the right for "ZOOM IN" and to the left for "ZOOM OUT."
Speed Switch & Photo/Video
- Speed Switch: Short press the Speed Switch button to cycle through speeds: Low (transmitter beeps once, "CAMERA MODE" on LCD), Middle (transmitter beeps twice, "NORMAL MODE" on LCD), High (transmitter beeps three times, "SPORT MODE" on LCD). Normal mode is default.
- Photo: Short press the Take Photo button. The photo indicator on the LCD screen flashes once.
- Video: Short press the Record Video button. The record indicator on the LCD screen starts to blink. Short press again to stop. The "Take Photo" function is disabled during recording.
GPS Return to Home (RTH)
RTH brings the drone back to its home point and only works in GPS mode. There are three types:
- Smart RTH: Short press the Return to Home button to activate. Drone flies back to the last recorded Home Point. Transmitter beeps during Smart RTH. Short press again to exit.
- Failsafe RTH: Automatically triggered if transmitter loses connection. Drone flies back to Home Point and attempts to re-establish connection. Pilot can manually end RTH by pressing the Return to Home button once connection is re-established.
- Low Voltage RTH: Triggered when battery is low. Transmitter beeps, LCD displays "GOING HOME." Drone generates a "safe zone" (flight distance ≤ 98 ft, flight altitude ≤ 66 ft) and can only fly within it.
Low Voltage RTH Procedures:
- Flight altitude > RA (Return Altitude): Drone descends to RA, flies back over Home Point, then descends to 66 ft and hovers.
- Flight altitude = RA: Drone maintains current altitude, flies back over Home Point, then descends to 66 ft and hovers.
- Flight altitude < RA: Drone ascends to RA, flies back over Home Point, then descends to 66 ft and hovers.
- Second Stage Low Voltage RTH: Transmitter produces long beeps, battery level bar flashes. Drone automatically flies back to Home Point and lands.
Warning: The drone is NOT equipped with obstacle avoidance. Do NOT turn off the transmitter during flight, as this will trigger Failsafe RTH.

Beginner Mode
This is the default operating mode with limitations:
- Flight distance cannot exceed 98 ft.
- Flight altitude cannot exceed 98 ft.
- Return altitude during RTH is 66 ft.
To remove the distance limit and extend maximum flight distance to 9842 ft, deactivate beginner mode in "Settings." Be cautious when removing the limit, as the drone may not return to Home Point if battery is low and it's too far.
