1. Outline

The FX5-1PSU-5V is an extension power supply module used when the internal power supply of the FX5UJ/FX5U CPU module is insufficient for output or intelligent function modules. It can be used as a single unit with FX5UJ CPU modules. With FX5U CPU modules, up to two units (FX5-1PSU-5V or FX3U-1PSU-5V) can be used per system. Refer to the MELSEC iQ-F FX5S/FX5UJ/FX5U/FX5UC User's Manual (Hardware) for installation, wiring, and system configuration details.

Notes

2.1 Arrangements

The product connects to the right side of a CPU module or extension module. Refer to the MELSEC iQ-F FX5S/FX5UJ/FX5U/FX5UC User's Manual (Hardware) for arrangement details.

2.2 Mounting

Mounting is done via direct mounting (with M4 screws) or DIN rail mounting.

2.2.1 Direct Mounting (with M4 screws)

Use the direct mounting holes (M4 screws). Refer to Section 1.2 for mounting hole pitch. Maintain approximately 2 mm gap between products. Refer to the MELSEC iQ-F FX5S/FX5UJ/FX5U/FX5UC User's Manual (Hardware) for further installation details.

2.2.2 DIN Rail Mounting

Diagram Description: A sequence of illustrations shows the DIN rail mounting process. 1. Connect the extension cable (A) to the CPU module or extension module on the left. For FX5-32E, tuck the pullout tab inside the connector cover. For other modules, pull the tab out to the right. Refer to the manual for details. 2. Connect the other end of the extension cable (A) to the FX5-1PSU-5V's extension connector. Tuck the pullout tab (B) inside the top cover. 3. Push out the DIN rail mounting hook. 4. Fit the upper edge of the DIN rail mounting groove (C) onto the DIN rail. 5. Press the product against the DIN rail. 6. Lock the DIN rail mounting hook while pressing the product against the DIN rail. Maintain a gap of approximately 2 mm between products.

WIRING PRECAUTIONS

[Warning]:

WIRING PRECAUTIONS

[Caution]:

3.1 Applicable Cable and Terminal Tightening Torque

Terminal screws are M3. Tighten to 0.5 to 0.8 N·m. Failure to do so may cause failures.

Diagram Description: Illustrations show wire preparation for terminals. One shows a single wire connection with a terminal screw and crimp terminal, indicating wire stripping length and terminal screw size (M3). Another shows two wires connected to one terminal, with similar details and a reference to a specific terminal manufacturer (J.S.T. Mfg. Co., Ltd.) and their part numbers (FV1.25-B3A, FV2-MS3) with applicable cable sizes (AWG22-16, AWG16-14) and certification (UL Listed). A pressure bonding tool (YA-1) is also referenced.

*1 To comply with the LVD directive (EN61010-2-201:2013), avoid wiring two wires to a single terminal; use an external terminal if necessary. Refer to the connected PLC manual for LVD directive compliance.

3.2 Power Supply Wiring

Refer to the MELSEC iQ-F FX5S/FX5UJ/FX5U/FX5UC User's Manual (Hardware) for power supply wiring.

Caution:

Diagram Description: An illustration shows the FX5-1PSU-5V module with power input terminals (L, N) for 100 to 240 V AC and a grounding terminal. It indicates that grounding resistance should be 100 Ω or less (Class D grounding). A grounding cable and power cable are shown exiting the module.

When connecting an input module to the FX5-1PSU-5V, supply input circuit power from the 24 V DC service power supply of the preceding CPU module or an external power supply.

3.3 Grounding

Ground the PLC as follows:

Diagram Description: Three diagrams illustrate grounding methods: "Independent grounding (Best condition)", "Shared grounding (Good condition)", and "Common grounding (Not allowed)". These show how the PLC, other equipment, and ground connections are made.
