Cockpit Overview
This section provides an overview of the main controls and features accessible from the driver's seat and center console.
Driver's Side and Steering Column

- Seat Functions: Electrically adjust the seat, activate seat heating and ventilation, adjust the front passenger seat, and use memory functions.
- Light Switch: Controls exterior lighting.
- Driver Assistance Systems: Buttons for Active Steering Assist, Active Lane Keeping Assist, and Parking Assist (PARKTRONIC). The location of the Parking Assist button may vary. Also includes Head-up Display controls.
- Air Vents: Adjusts the air vents.
- Multifunction Steering Wheel Control Panels: Access various vehicle functions.
Center Console and Steering Wheel Controls

- DIRECT SELECT Lever: Controls the transmission.
- Multimedia System Display: Shows information and allows interaction with the multimedia system.
- Automatic Climate Control Buttons: Direct buttons for main climate control functions.
- Direct Buttons for Multimedia System: Quick access to Navigation (NAVI), Radio (RADIO), Media (MEDIA), Telephone (TEL), and Vehicle menus.
- Hazard Warning Lights: Activates hazard lights.
- Multimedia System Controller: Adjusts volume, mutes audio, switches the system on/off, and controls other functions.
- Multimedia System Touchpad: Allows for touch-based interaction with the multimedia system.
- Driving Functions: Controls for DYNAMIC SELECT, Vehicle Level adjustment, Active Parking Assist, and ECO start/stop function.
- Start/Stop Button: Starts and stops the engine.
- Electric Parking Brake: Engages or disengages the parking brake.
- Trunk Lid Opener: Opens or closes the trunk lid.
- Door Control Panel: Controls power windows, exterior mirror adjustment, and the override feature for rear side windows.
- Door Handle: For opening the door.
- Central Locking: Locks and unlocks the vehicle centrally.
- Overhead Control Panel: Buttons for interior lighting, reading lights, Mercedes me connect service, and the SOS button for the emergency call system. Also controls the panoramic roof roller sunblind.

Steering Wheel Controls
Detailed operation of the steering wheel levers and buttons.
Combination Switches

- Combination Switch 1: Controls turn signal lights, high beam, and windshield wipers.
- Lever 2: Adjusts the steering column electrically and controls the steering wheel heater.
Windshield Wiper Functions

- Position 1: Single wipe.
- Position 1 with Washer Fluid: Wipes with washer fluid.
- Position 2: Windshield wipers off.
- Position 3: Intermittent wiping, normal speed.
- Position 4: Intermittent wiping, frequent speed.
- Position 5: Continuous wiping, slow speed.
- Position 6: Continuous wiping, fast speed.
- Control 2: Operates the rear window wiper.
Lighting Functions

- Position 1: High beam or Adaptive Highbeam Assist Plus.
- Position 2: Turn signal light, right.
- Position 3: Headlamp flasher.
- Position 4: Turn signal light, left.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC

- Button 1: Switches Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC on or off.
- Button 2: Increases the specified distance to the vehicle ahead.
- Button 3: Increases the set speed.
- Button 4: Activates DISTRONIC with the current speed or pulls away with DISTRONIC.
- Button 5: Deactivates Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC.
- Button 6: Activates DISTRONIC with the stored speed.
Changing Speed and Distance:
- To change speed by 1 mph (1 km/h): Briefly press rocker switch 3 up or down.
- To change speed by 5 mph (10 km/h): Press rocker switch 3 up or down beyond the pressure point.
- To change the specified distance: Use rocker switch 2.
- Activating DISTRONIC with displayed speed restriction: Press rocker switch 4 upwards twice.
Active Distance Assist DISTRONIC maintains a stored speed, with a minimum of 12 mph (20 km/h).

Climate Control
Information on operating the automatic climate control system.
Operating Possibilities
Climate control can be set using:
- Buttons on the center console control panel.
- The air conditioning menu of the multimedia system.
The air-conditioning function bar shows key settings and status.
Automatic Climate Control Panel

- Temperature Adjustment: Use buttons to set the temperature.
- Air Distribution: Select air distribution modes.
- Air Flow: Adjusts air flow and can switch off automatic climate control.
- AUTO: Sets climate control to automatic mode.
- MAX Defrost: Defrosts the windshield.
- MENU: Calls up the air conditioning menu. Press and hold for ~4 seconds to reset to basic settings.
- Residual Heat: Utilizes residual engine heat with the engine off.
- Rear Defrost: Defrosts the rear window.
- SYNC: Synchronizes operation for all climate zones.
- Air-Recirculation Mode: Recirculates interior air, which may cause windows to fog faster.
- A/C Cooling: Activates cooling with air dehumidification.
Air Conditioning Menu (Multimedia System)
Access the menu by pressing the MENU button on the control panel.
- A/C: Deactivates the cooling function.
- Climate Mode: Changes air flow settings.
- Rear: Operates climate control in the rear.
- SYNC: Changes settings for all climate zones simultaneously.
- Air Freshener: Sets the intensity of the fragrancing system.
- Ionization: Freshens interior air using ionization.
Multifunction Steering Wheel Controls
Detailed operation of the multifunction steering wheel buttons.
Voice Control System

- VOL: Adjusts volume. Press to switch sound on/off.
- Voice Control Button (microphone icon): Starts a dialog with the Voice Control System or cancels a current command.
- Favorites Button: Displays favorite applications.
On-Board Computer

- Back Button: Navigates back in menus or shows the standard display when pressed and held.
- Touch Control: Confirms selections.
Telephone/Media Functions

Voice Control System
Operate multimedia system functions using voice commands.
Starting a Dialog
Press the voice command button (microphone icon) and speak after the acoustic signal. If a mobile phone is connected via Bluetooth®, pressing and holding the button activates the phone's voice control.
Voice Control System Help
- General Help: Say "Help Voice Control System".
- Current Function Help: Say "Help".
- Specific System Help: Say "Help [System Name]", e.g., "Help telephone".
Example Voice Commands
- Navigation: "Navigate to [Address]", "Navigate to contact [Name]", "Nearest gas station".
- Telephone: "Call [Name]", "Latest calls".
- Audio: "Station [Station Name]", "Play [Song Title]".

Multimedia System Operation
Operate the multimedia system using the controller, touchpad, or Touch Control.
Menu Navigation
- Controller: Turn or slide to navigate. Press to confirm. Slide left/right to open menus.
- Touchpad: Swipe in the direction of desired entry. Swipe left/right to open menus. Press to confirm.
- % Button: Leaves a menu or switches to the basic menu.
- Favorites Button: Calls up or changes favorites.
- Quick-access to audio sources: Swipe up with two fingers or press the button on the touchpad to open the bar, then swipe up/down with one finger to change tracks/stations. Swipe down with two fingers to close.
Favorites
Quickly access frequently used applications. Press the Favorites button to call up the menu, navigate down to show the favorites bar. To create a favorite, select a function and press and hold the Favorites button.
Personalization
Store personal settings in a user profile. Access via the main menu: Press the Main Menu button, select Personalization.
Zoom Map
- Touchpad: Move two fingers apart or together.
- Controller: Turn left or right.
Handwriting Recognition
Enter individual letters. Swipe left to delete, swipe right to insert a space.
Quickly Storing Radio Stations
While listening to the radio, press and hold the controller, touchpad, or right-hand Touch Control on the steering wheel. An acoustic signal confirms the save.

Connecting a Mobile Phone
Connect your mobile phone via Bluetooth® for hands-free operation and media streaming.
Requirements
- Bluetooth® must be switched on and visible on your mobile phone.
- Bluetooth® must be switched on on the multimedia system.
Searching for a Mobile Phone
Press the TEL button on the center console, then select Devices > Connect New Device, or select Start Search on System. Available devices will be shown. If your phone isn't found, try Search from Device.
Connecting a Mobile Phone
Select your mobile phone from the list. A code will appear on both the multimedia system and your phone. Confirm the codes match on both devices.
You can connect up to two telephones simultaneously.

Connecting Exterior Media Sources
Connect external media devices via the available slots.
- SD Card Slot: For SD cards.
- USB Ports: For USB devices. The USB port marked with a specific symbol is for Apple CarPlay™ and Android Auto™.
HANDS-FREE ACCESS
Open or close the trunk lid hands-free if you have the KEYLESS-GO key on your person.
Operation: Kick into the sensor detection area below the bumper (maintain a distance of around 12 inches / 30 cm). Do not touch the bumper.
