- With the machine off, turn on the coffee (2) and steam (3) switches.
- Turn on the general switch (1).
- After five seconds, the steam pilot light (15) shows the stand-by function status. If it is flashing, the function is off; if it remains steady, the function is on.
- To return to service mode, turn off the coffee (2) and steam (3) switches.
NB! In PID models: The function can be turned on and off using the PID system controls (24) and (25). Refer to section 6 of this manual.

1. External Cleaning
To clean the outside of the machine, use 96° alcohol or specific products for stainless steel.
- Remove and clean the tray from time to time (refer to Figure 8).
- If the machine will not be used for a long period, empty the water tank.
- Immediately after use, clean the steam nozzle with a damp cloth. To clean the inside of the nozzle, allow water to circulate.
- Use a toothpick or paper clip to clean the frother hole to keep the tube free of obstructions.
2. Internal Cleaning
Cleaning and preventive care of the machine's internal system are vital for obtaining espresso of optimum quality. To clean the inside of the distribution unit, use Ascaso Coffee Washer V.100. This product is also useful for descaling the machine. Regular descaling helps ensure excellent coffee quality and prolongs the machine's useful life. Consult your distributor.
Recommendations for using Coffee Washer:
Coffees/day | Descaling |
---|---|
>10 | monthly |
5-10 | every 2 months |
1-5 | every 3 months |
To prevent lime-scale problems, water treatment filters can also be used. However, cleaning in line with consumption is recommended. The use of filters and Coffee Washer helps prolong the coffee machine's life and maintain optimum condition.
Figure 8 illustrates the process of removing the water tank from the side of the machine for cleaning.
Internal Cleaning (Back Flushing)
Use a blind filter. Perform weekly, except for pod models (fixed filter holder).
- Insert the blind filter into the filter holder and attach it to the machine.
- Press the coffee switch.
- After 10 seconds, press the switch again to turn off the group.
- Repeat the operation twice.
3. Cleaning of the Steam Unit
For DUO / DUO PID / TRIO models:
- For internal cleaning of the steam unit, use Ascaso Coffee Washer V.100. Consult your distributor.
- DUO PID models: Enter the system parameters menu and activate the CLn option. After 5 seconds, the first phase of the cleaning function will activate, displaying the message CL.b on the screen (24), which will flash until the group temperature reaches 75°C. The second phase of the cleaning mode must not be activated until this temperature is reached. Once the text CL.b is fixed, activate water flow through the steam group by pressing the steam switch (3). The pump will run continuously for a maximum of 3 minutes.
- DUO models: With the machine off, activate the hot water (14) and steam (3) switches. Activate the main switch (1) and keep the other switches activated for 5 seconds. After this time, the coffee (6), hot water (23), and steam (15) pilot lights will flash, indicating that the cleaning mode is activated. Then, deactivate switches (14) and (3) and proceed with cleaning the steam group.
Attention! Once the cleaning process is finished, turn the machine off and on again to return to normal operating mode.
Attention! In DUO PID and DUO models, the CLn mode can also be used to clean the coffee group.
TRIO models: With the cold steam group, use the Coffee Washer, activating the steam switch (3).
NB! Grinding System (Mobile Filter Holder)
It is recommended not to leave ground coffee or coffee pods in the filter holder. Coffee residue affects the cleanliness of the coffee machine and the flavour of the coffee. If this occurs, run a tank of water through the machine.
4. Cleaning the Filter Holder and Shower Heads
- Mobile filter holder: Wash the filter holder with hot water and pH-neutral soap. Rinse thoroughly. Dry the holder with a soft cloth. Do not place in the dishwasher.
- The filters, tray, and tank can be washed in the top rack of the dishwasher. If washing by hand, rinse thoroughly and dry with a soft cloth.
- Use a brush or similar tool to clean coffee grounds from the top shower head.
NB! Grinding System (Mobile Filter Holder): The top shower head should be cleaned after approximately 80 to 100 espresso coffees. Clean with hot water and neutral soap, then reinsert.
5. Cleaning the Water Tank
Remove the tank from the side of the machine. Clean the inside with water.
