Nomenclature and Functions
Front Panel
The front panel features:
- 1. Power Indicator: Lights green when the power switch is turned on.
- 2. Peak Indicator: Lights red when the input signal is too high. If this indicator lights up, turn the input level control counterclockwise until the light switches off or the input signal level decreases. Continuous illumination may activate protection circuitry.
- 3. Signal Indicator: Lights green when the respective channel's input signal is passing through.
- 4. Protect Indicator: Lights red when the protection circuitry is activated. The protection output systems deactivate automatically, and normal operation resumes once the problem is resolved.
Rear Panel
The rear panel includes:
- 5. Power Switch: Turns the amplifier on and off.
- 6. AC Inlet: For connecting the supplied power cord. The socket-outlet should be near the equipment and easily accessible.
- 7. Input Terminals: Electronically-balanced inputs using 3-pin removable terminal blocks (+: Hot, -: Cold, : Earth).
- 8. Input Level Controls: Adjust the input level for each channel. Clockwise increases the level, counterclockwise decreases it.
- 9. Speaker Output Settings: DIP switches to select speaker output mode (100V or 70V) for each channel.
- 10. Speaker Output Terminals: For connecting speaker cables. Impedance for 100V line is 67Ω, and for 70V line is 33Ω.
Application Examples
Typical School Solution
This setup involves connecting multiple TOA BS-1030W speakers to a TOA DSP Matrix Mixer (M-9000M2) and the DA-150EH-AM amplifier. The diagram shows sound sources routed to different zones via the DSP Matrix Mixer, with the amplifier's outputs connected to the speakers.
Restaurant/Bar Solution
This configuration illustrates connecting various TOA speakers, including sub-woofers (FB-3862CU) and full-range speakers (F-1300BT, PC-580RU), to a TOA DSP Matrix Mixer (M-8080D) and the DA-150EH-AM amplifier. The diagram details routing for multiple zones, including options with low-pass filters (LPF) for sub-woofers.
Removable Terminal Plug Connection
Cautions:
- Use shielded cables for audio signal lines.
- Avoid soldering cable conductors, as this can increase contact resistance and lead to temperature rises.
- Use cables of AWG 12-24.
Cable End Treatment: Prepare the shielded cable by stripping 7mm of the outer jacket and 20mm of the inner insulation, exposing the conductor and shield.
Connector Connections:
- Loosen the terminal screw.
- Insert the cable conductor into the terminal.
- Retighten the terminal screw securely, ensuring the cable is firmly connected by pulling it gently.
Tip: A slotted screwdriver with a 3mm blade width is recommended.
Thermal Dissipation
The amplifier draws cool air from both sides, passes it through the unit and heat sink, and exhausts it via rear vents. It is crucial not to block or impede this airflow. Keep vent areas clear of foreign materials to ensure proper cooling and prevent overheating.
Power On/Off Sequence
A specific power on/off sequence is important for high-power systems to prevent equipment damage:
- Power On: Source → Sound console → Peripheral devices → Power Amplifier
- Power Off: Power Amplifier → Peripheral devices → Sound console → Source

Safety and Handling Precautions
Important Safety Instructions: Read and keep these instructions. Heed all warnings and follow all instructions. Do not use the apparatus near water. Clean only with a dry cloth. Do not block ventilation openings. Install away from heat sources. Do not alter plugs. Protect the power cord from damage. Use only manufacturer-specified attachments/accessories. Use caution when moving carts with the apparatus. Unplug during lightning storms or long periods of disuse. Refer servicing to qualified personnel.
Safety Precautions: Read all instructions before installation or use. Follow all warnings and cautions. Safety symbols are used to prevent injury and damage. The exclamation point within a triangle alerts to important operation and maintenance instructions. A 'WARNING' symbol indicates a hazardous situation that could result in death or serious injury if mishandled. Do not expose the unit to rain or liquids. Use only the specified voltage. Do not damage the power cord. Avoid unstable locations. External wiring requires an instructed person. Connect to a grounded main socket outlet. Ensure the socket-outlet and plug are easily accessible. The unit is not suitable for use where children are likely to be present.
When the Unit is in Use: If smoke, strange smells, water, metallic objects, or damage occurs, immediately switch off power, disconnect the plug, and contact a dealer. Never open the unit case due to high voltage components. Do not place liquids or metallic objects on the unit. Do not insert metallic objects into ventilation slots. Keep the unit clean, especially the power plug and outlet, to prevent fire hazards. Switch off and unplug the unit when cleaning or leaving it unused for 10 days or more.
Caution: Indicates a potentially hazardous situation that could result in moderate or minor personal injury and/or property damage if mishandled. Never handle the plug with wet hands. Grasp the plug, not the cord, when unplugging. Do not operate with a damaged power cord. Remove the power cord before moving the unit. Do not block ventilation slots. Avoid humid, dusty, or direct sunlight locations. Unplug the unit when connecting speakers. For rack-mounting, ensure the rack is stable and secured. Use an AC outlet with adequate current capacity. No rack-mounting screws are supplied. Do not place heavy objects on the unit. Set volume controls to minimum before powering on. Avoid operating with distorted sound for extended periods, as this indicates a malfunction and can cause heat generation.
EMC Precautions: Operation in a residential environment may cause radio interference. The equipment complies with FCC Part 15 limits for Class B digital devices, providing reasonable protection against harmful interference. If interference occurs, reorient the antenna, increase separation, use a different circuit, or consult a technician.
Handling Precautions: Keep input and output cables separated to prevent oscillation. Never connect outputs of two or more channels in parallel to avoid unit failures. Connect speakers with impedance equal to or greater than specified. Clean the unit with a dry cloth after turning off the power. Use a neutral cleanser for heavy dirt; avoid benzene, thinner, or alcohol.
