Temperature and Humidity Sensor User Manual

Product Overview

Front View

The front of the sensor features an LCD screen displaying current temperature and humidity readings. The temperature is shown in degrees Fahrenheit (℉) or Celsius (℃), and humidity is shown as a percentage (%). Icons on the screen indicate battery status (?) and weather conditions (☁️). A protective film covers the screen.

Rear View

The rear of the sensor includes:

  • Ventilation Holes and Protective Film
  • Side Button
  • Plastic Insulation Sheet (to be removed before use)
  • Battery Compartment for AAA Battery × 2 (included)

Installation

The sensor can be placed on a surface using its integrated kickstand, which folds out from the rear.

Side Button

The side button has two primary functions:

  1. Pairing Mode: Press and hold the side button for 5 seconds and release to put the sensor into pairing mode. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates pairing mode.
  2. Temperature Unit Switch: Press the side button to toggle the temperature display between Celsius (℃) and Fahrenheit (℉).

Setup

  1. Remove the protective film from the ventilation holes and the kickstand on the back of the sensor. Open the battery cover, remove the plastic insulation sheet, and the sensor will power on. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
  2. A solid cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the pairing process is successfully completed.
  3. If the sensor is not successfully paired within 3 minutes, it will exit pairing mode. Press and hold the side button for 5 seconds again to re-enter pairing mode.

Pairing with Third Reality

App: Third Reality App
Hub: Third Reality Smart Hub

Pair the Temperature and Humidity sensor with your Third Reality Smart Hub.

Pairing steps:

  1. Register and sign in to your THIRDREALITY account, and add the THIRDREALITY hub.
  2. Remove the kickstand on the back of the Temperature and Humidity Sensor, open the battery cover, and remove the plastic insulation sheet. The sensor powers on. Alternatively, press and hold the side button for 5 seconds and release. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
  3. In the THIRDREALITY App, tap the "+" icon in the upper right corner, scroll down to select the Temperature and Humidity Sensor icon, and follow the on-screen instructions to start the pairing process.
  4. The sensor will be discovered within one minute and appear as "Temperature and Humidity Sensor 1". The temperature and humidity data will be displayed in the device list.
  5. Tap the Temperature and Humidity Sensor icon to enter the device page. Here you can view information such as the MAC address, battery level, software version, and history records. You can also rename the sensor and check for software updates.
  6. When skills are enabled in your Alexa app after pairing the sensor to the hub, you can read temperature readings but cannot create routines with the sensor in your Alexa app.

Pairing with Amazon Echo

App: Amazon Alexa App

This is compatible with Echo devices that have built-in ZigBee hubs, such as Echo V4, Echo Plus V1 and V2, Echo Studio, and Eero 6 and 6 pro.

Pairing steps:

  1. Ask Alexa to check for updates before pairing.
  2. Remove the kickstand on the back of the Temperature and Humidity Sensor, open the battery cover, and remove the plastic insulation sheet. The sensor powers on. Alternatively, press and hold the side button for 5 seconds and release. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
  3. Ask Alexa to discover devices, or open the Alexa App, go to the device page, tap "+" on the top right, choose "Add Device", scroll down to the bottom, tap "other", then tap "DISCOVER DEVICES". The Temperature and Humidity Sensor will be paired with your Echo device in a few seconds.
  4. Tap the device icon to enter the device page. Tap the settings icon to enter the settings page. You can edit the name of the sensor or create routines to control other connected devices.

Pairing with SmartThings

App: SmartThings App
Devices: SmartThings Hub 2nd Gen (2015) and 3rd Gen. (2018), Aeotec Smart Home Hub.

Pairing steps:

  1. Before pairing, check for updates to ensure the SmartThings Hub firmware is up to date.
  2. Remove the kickstand on the back of the Temperature and Humidity Sensor, open the battery cover, and remove the plastic insulation sheet. The sensor powers on. Alternatively, press and hold the side button for 5 seconds and release. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
  3. Open the SmartThings App, tap "+" on the upper right corner to "Add device", and then tap "Scan" to "Scan for nearby devices".
  4. The sensor will be paired with the SmartThings hub in a few seconds.
  5. Create routines to control connected devices.
  6. When skills are enabled in your Alexa app after pairing the Temperature and Humidity Sensor to the hub, you can only read the temperature readings but not able to create routines with the temperature sensor in your Alexa app.

How to add SmartThings drivers for Third Reality T&H Sensor

  1. Open this link in your PC browser: https://bestow-regional.api.smartthings.com/invite/adM-Kr50EXzj9
  2. Log in to your SmartThings Account.
  3. Click "Enroll" → "Available Drivers" → "Install" to install the device driver as needed.
  4. Reboot your SmartThings hub by powering it off and on again.
  5. Use "Scan for Nearby Devices" in the SmartThings App to pair THIRDREALITY devices with your SmartThings hub.
  6. You can change the driver of the sensor in the SmartThings App.

Pairing with Hubitat

Pairing steps:

  1. Remove the kickstand on the back of the Temperature and Humidity Sensor, open the battery cover, and remove the plastic insulation sheet. The sensor powers on. Alternatively, press and hold the side button for 5 seconds and release. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
  2. Visit your Hubitat Elevation hub device page from your web browser. Select the "Devices" menu item from the sidebar, then select "Discover Devices" in the upper right.
  3. Click the "Start ZigBee Pairing" button after selecting a ZigBee device type. This will put the hub in ZigBee pairing mode for 60 seconds. The screen will show a countdown timer.
  4. After the pairing process is completed successfully, you can rename the device if needed.
  5. The Temperature and Humidity Sensor will now appear on the Devices page.

Pairing with Home Assistant

Pairing steps:

  1. Remove the kickstand on the back of the Temperature and Humidity Sensor, open the battery cover, and remove the plastic insulation sheet. The sensor powers on. A blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode.
  2. Ensure Home Assistant Integrations ZigBee Home Automation Setup is ready. Go to the "Configuration" page, then click "Integrations".
  3. Click "Devices" on the ZigBee item, then click "Add Devices". The screen will show discovered devices, including the sensor.
  4. After pairing is completed successfully, the sensor will show up on the page.
  5. Navigate back to the "Devices" page to find the added Temperature and Humidity Sensor.
  6. Click to enter the control interface to configure the Temperature and Humidity Sensor.
  7. Click the "+" icon associated with "Automation" to add different actions.

FAQ

How to factory reset the Temperature and Humidity Sensor?
Press and hold the side button on the left side of the sensor for 5 seconds and release the hold. The blinking cloud icon (☁️) on the LCD screen indicates the sensor is in pairing mode, which is also the state for factory reset.
Why does the temperature fluctuate as I press the side button?
The side button is located near the ventilation hole. Pressing the button can temporarily affect the airflow, causing the temperature reading to rise. Wait for approximately 20 seconds for the reading to return to normal after releasing the button.
The LCD screen gets dirty, how to clean it?
You can clean the LCD screen with alcohol wipes or a damp soft cloth. Ensure water does not get into the monitor when cleaning.
What is the battery life?
The battery life is approximately 1 year with typical usage.
