Module Overview
This document provides the wiring diagram for the Buderus FM442 Function Module, designed to control two heating zones (HZ1 and HZ2).
The module features switching states for each heating zone, an internal bus for control panel communication, and connections for power supply, actuators, heating pumps, remote controls, temperature sensors, and selection functions.
Module Front View and Switching States
The front view of the FM442 module displays terminals and indicators. The module operates based on defined switching states for each heating zone.
Heating Zone 2 Switching States:
- Switch position: K4, K5, K6
- AUT (Automatic): Enabled
- Closed-loop pump: Enabled
- Control mode colder: Enabled
- Control mode hotter: Enabled
Heating Zone 1 Switching States:
- Switch position: K4, K5, K6
- AUT (Automatic): Enabled
- Closed-loop pump: Enabled
- Control mode colder: Enabled
- Control mode hotter: Enabled
Internal BUS and Power Supply
The module connects to an internal BUS within the control panel. The power supply is connected via terminals L (Live) and N (Neutral).
The module is identified as the HZ/HZ-module FM442.
An input for automatic control is also indicated (*).
Component Connections
The FM442 module facilitates connections for various heating system components:
Heating Zone 2 Connections:
- Actuator (2SH): Terminals 41, 43, 44. Rated for 120V~, max 5A.
- Heating Pump (2PH): Terminals 61, 63. Rated for 120V~, max 5A.
- Remote control MEC2 or BFU (2BF): Terminal 2. (Note 2: Only one MEC2 per control. MEC2 can be plugged into control module or wired via wall kit.)
- Supply temp. sensor (2FV): Terminal 1.
- Selection function (dry contact) (2WF): Terminal 3. Options include:
- 1-3: Manual day mode
- 1-2: Manual night mode
- 1-2: Fault message pump
Heating Zone 1 Connections:
- Actuator (1SH): Terminals 41, 43, 44. Rated for 120V~, max 5A.
- Heating Pump (1PH): Terminals 61, 63. Rated for 120V~, max 5A.
- Remote control MEC2 or BFU (1BF): Terminal 2. (Note 2: Only one MEC2 per control. MEC2 can be plugged into control module or wired via wall kit.)
- Supply temp. sensor (1FV): Terminal 1.
- Selection function (dry contact) (1WF): Terminal 3. Options include:
- 1-3: Manual day mode
- 1-2: Manual night mode
- 1-2: Fault message pump
Control Voltage: 120V~
Low voltage for sensors is indicated.
Wire types used include AWG14 and AWG18.
Installation Notes
- 1) Functionality is only possible if no BFU is connected or no MEC2 is assigned.
- 2) Please note! Only one MEC2 can be allocated to each control. The MEC2 can be plugged into the control module or, using the wall installation kit (optional), wired to the ZM or FM module.
- *) Total current for the module cannot exceed 10A.
Wiring Diagram Schematic (Page 2)
The second page provides a schematic overview of the wiring.
Legend:
- HZ: Heating zone
- THV: Thermostatic radiator valve
The diagram illustrates how the FM442 module connects to two heating zones, HZ1 and HZ2, which are controlled via Thermostatic Radiator Valves (THV). The connections involve various wires, including AWG18 and AWG14, linking the module's terminals (e.g., 1WF, 2WF, 1BF, 2BF, 1FV, 2FV, 1PH, 2PH, 1SH, 2SH) to the respective zone components like actuators and pumps.
The diagram shows the flow of power and control signals from the module to the heating zones and back from sensors.
