Smart Switch Module
Model: MS-104Z
Overview
Experience global, international operation with the all-in-one mobile app, anytime and anywhere. This module supports ZigBee Mesh for in-house local operation via an app, voice control with Google Home and Amazon Alexa, and works with push wall switches (reset switches) and rocker light switches.
Installation
Warnings:
- Installation must be carried out by a qualified electrician in accordance with local regulations. ⚠️
- Keep the device out of the reach of children.
- Keep the device away from water, damp, or hot environments.
- Install the device away from strong signal sources such as microwave ovens that may cause signal interruption and abnormal operation.
- Obstruction by concrete walls or metallic materials may reduce the effective operation range and should be avoided.
- Do NOT attempt to disassemble, repair, or modify the device.
Installation Steps:
- Turn off the circuit breaker and use an electrical tester to verify power is off. Ensure the circuit breaker is off before wiring.
- Remove the old switch and pull it away from the wall.
- Identify Line/Load Wire. (Note: Wire colors may differ from manual illustrations.)
- Verify power is off. It is recommended to remove the faceplate from the old switch and use an electrical tester on all wires connected to the switch to ensure no voltage is present. You may need to turn off more than one circuit breaker.
- Disconnect the power supply before installing or removing the device to avoid irreversible damage from electric current or unpredictable issues like lamp flashing.
Physical Dimensions:
The module is a compact rectangular unit measuring approximately 52 mm in width, 47 mm in depth, and 18 mm in height.
Wiring Diagrams:
Diagram 1: With one switch (Rocker light switch / Reset switch)
Connect Live (L) and Neutral (N) to the module's L and N terminals. Connect the wall switch to the S1 terminal. Connect the Light to the LOUT terminal.
Diagram 2: Without switch
Connect Live (L) and Neutral (N) to the module's L and N terminals. Connect the Light to the LOUT terminal. Control is managed via the app or voice.
Diagram 3: With 2 Way switches
Connect Live (L) and Neutral (N) to the module's L and N terminals. Connect two 2-way switches to the S1 and S2 terminals (S2 is implied for 2-way functionality). Connect the Light to the LOUT terminal.
Diagram 4: With Wall Socket
Connect Live (L) and Neutral (N) to the module's L and N terminals. Connect the Wall Socket to the LOUT terminal.
Wiring Instructions:
- Turn off the power supply before carrying out any electrical installation work.
- Connect wires according to the wiring diagram.
- Insert the module into the junction box.
- Connect the power supply and follow the switch module configuration instructions.
Note: Place your smartphone close to the switch module during configuration, ensuring a minimum of 50% Wi-Fi signal strength.

App Configuration (Smart Life App)
1. Download Smart Life App: Search for "Smart Life" on your app store.
2. Registration or Log in: Open the "Smart Life" application. Tap "Register" to create an account using your phone number for a verification code and set a password. Alternatively, tap "Log in" if you already have an account.
3. Configure the APP to the switch:
Preparation: Ensure the switch is connected to electricity, your phone is connected to Wi-Fi, and has internet access.
Zigbee Link Method:
Pairing: Complete wiring before pairing. The module supports pairing with rocker light switches and reset switches. Pay attention to different pairing modes.
- Method One: Follow the network guide.
- Method Two: Confirm the device beeps continuously. If not, refer to the manual for network configuration.
How to reset/re-pair Zigbee code:
- For reset button: Long press the button on the module until continuous beep sounds.
- For reset switch: Press the switch button 10 times until continuous beep sounds.
- For rocker light switch: Press the switch button 10 times (ON/OFF cycle 5 times) until continuous beep sounds.
Adding Device in App:
- Open the App, select "+" in the top right corner.
- Choose "Switch (Zigbee)" and select the correct Gateway to confirm the connection. Ensure a ZigBee gateway hub is successfully connected.
- The connection process takes approximately 10-120 seconds.
- Once pairing is complete, the Zigbee switch will appear in the App.
Pair and Clear RF Code:
- Pairing RF Code: Follow specific button press sequences (e.g., 5 times for reset switch, 10 times for rocker switch, long press for reset button) until confirmation beeps, then press the RF transmitter switch.
- Clearing RF Code: Follow specific button press sequences (e.g., 5 times, wait 5 seconds, 5 times again for reset switch) until confirmation beeps, then the RF code is cleared.
Multi-control Association:
To control a light with multiple switches:
- Add another smart switch to the same Smart Life/Tuya App. Wire it only for L and N, not necessarily to the light.
- In the app, select the main switch, then navigate to "Multi-Control Association" and tap "+".
- Choose the switch to associate and the specific button to control the light.
- Confirm the association. You can now control the light with multiple switches. Do not associate another button on the same switch for multi-control. Repeat for additional switches.
Voice Control Integration (Amazon Alexa)
- Complete Networking Configuration: Set up the device in the App and rename it to an easily identifiable name (e.g., "bedroom light").
- Configure Amazon Echo Device: Ensure your Echo device is powered on and connected to Wi-Fi. Open the Alexa App, go to Settings > Set Up A New Device, and follow prompts to connect your Echo.
- Link Skill: In the Alexa App menu, tap "Skill", search for the relevant App Name (e.g., "Smart Life"), tap "Enable", and link your App account by entering your credentials.
Common Commands:
- "Alexa, turn on/off bedroom light."
- "Alexa, set bedroom light to 50 percent."
- "Alexa, brighten/dim bedroom light."
- "Alexa, set bedroom light to green." (If applicable for color-changing lights)
Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ) ❓
Q1: What should I do if I can't configure the switch module?
a. Check if the device is powered on.
b. Ensure your mobile and Zigbee gateway hub are on the same 2.4GHz WiFi network.
c. Verify good internet conditions.
d. Confirm the password entered in the App is correct.
e. Make sure the wiring is correct.
Q2: What device can be connected to this Zigbee switch module?
Most household electrical appliances, such as lamps, washing machines, coffee makers, etc.
Q3: What happens if the WiFi goes off?
You can still control the connected device using your traditional wall switch. Once Wi-Fi is active again, devices connected to the App will automatically reconnect for normal control.
Q4: What should I do if I change the WiFi network or password?
You need to re-connect your Zigbee gateway hub to the new Wi-Fi network according to the App User Manual.
