Note for cable glands:
It is recommended to apply an adequate layer of LOCTITE 5331 paste on the plastic holder of the cable gland and LOCTITE 577 on the thread of the gland body before insertion.
Installation Steps:
- Remove the top cover (A) by unscrewing four screws (B) to access the display (E) and control buttons (F).
- Fasten the E-box Remote on a non-flammable flat surface using the four mounting holes (C) with a diameter of 7 mm.
- Remove the terminal blocks cover (H) by unscrewing four screws (G) to access the terminal blocks.
- Remove end caps from cable glands before passing cables. Ensure unused cable glands are covered with end caps to maintain the declared IP rating.
- Pass DMX and Ethernet cables through M12x1.5 cable glands and connect them to the terminal blocks. Tighten the cables in the glands.
- Pass Power and LED output cables through M20x1.5 cable glands and connect them to the terminal blocks. Tighten the cables in the glands.
Cable Gland Diameters:
- M12x1.5 (DMX IN/OUT, Ethernet IN/OUT): for cables of 3-7mm diameter.
- M20x1.5 (Power IN, LED Output): for cables of 7-13mm diameter.
- Check that all screws and cable glands are firmly tightened.
- Screw the terminal blocks cover (H) back onto the E-box Remote.
- Connect the E-box Remote to mains power.
- Set the E-box Remote using the control panel (E) and buttons (F).
- Disconnect the E-box Remote from mains and screw the cover (A) back on.
IMPORTANT: ALWAYS DISCONNECT THE E-BOX REMOTE FROM MAINS BEFORE CONNECTING/DISCONNECTING LED MODULES.
This device falls under protection class I. Therefore, every E-box Remote has to be connected to a mains socket outlet with a protective earthing connection.
Power Connection Wiring:
Connection | L | N | Ground |
---|---|---|---|
Wire (CE) | Brown | Blue | Green/yellow |
Wire (US) | Black | White | Green |
4. Eminere Remote Modes
The E-box Remote menu allows switching connected Emineres Remote to two modes:
- Standard: LED modules are switched to an internal serial connection. DMX addressing is automatic (default DMX address = 1), adjustable via E-box Remote or RDM. This is the default mode.
- Pass-Thr (Pass through): LED modules are switched to an internal parallel connection. DMX addressing must be done manually via the Robe Universal Interface (or its wireless version Robe Universal Interface WTX) and the RDM Manager software.
Note: RDM manager and DMX controller cannot be connected at the same time.
The E-box Remote and connected Eminere Remotes can be configured using the RDM Manager software. The interface allows setting DMX address and Personality for each LED module.
When no DMX is received, the unit defaults to a Demo mode. This can be modified by setting a desired look via DMX and saving it via RDM by setting "Init position LEDs" to 1.
The last Eminere on each DMX line may be terminated by setting the ‘Manufacturer PID’ 'Terminator active' to ‘1’. Ensure the fixture is not already terminated with a 120 Ohm resistor.
The function "Pixel swap" from the RDM control panel allows swapping the pixel order. Pixel Swap 0 disables this function, while Pixel Swap 1 enables it, reordering the pixels in the chain.
5. E-box Remote Menu
The E-box Remote is equipped with a 2-row LCD display and four buttons for addressing and configuring the fixture's behavior.
Control Buttons:
- ESCAPE button: To escape a function or menu.
- ENTER button: To select a function or confirm an adjusted value.
- UP and DOWN buttons: To navigate within the menu.
Important: After changing any setting, disconnect and reconnect power to the E-box Remote to activate the changes.
Some menu items are not accessible if the "Pass-Thr" option is selected for E-box mode (menu Personality).
5.1 DMX Addr
- Set DMX Address: Sets the DMX start address for the fixture. This is the first channel the E-box Remote responds to from a DMX controller. (Not available in Pass-Thr mode).
- IP address: Allows setting the fixture's IP address for network identification.
- Default Address: Uses the fixture's MAC address for the IP address.
- Custom Address: Allows manual entry of an IP address (e.g., 172.16.254.1).
- Network mask: Sets the network mask for IP address subnetting.
