CONVERTING A 120V HOT TUB TO 240V
A HOW-TO GUIDE FOR CERTIFIED ELECTRICIANS!
GECKO EQUIPMENT
This guide is intended for certified electricians only.
It is strongly not recommended to do the conversion if you are not a certified electrician.
Conversion Steps
The electronic box is located under the keyboard, behind the side panel. (Visual: A blue electronic box containing a circuit board with various wires connected to terminals.)
Open the electric box.
Locate the terminal at the main power input:
- a) Disconnect the cable at positions N, L1 and G from the 120 V.
- b) Remove the brown wire at position L2 from the terminal at the main power input.
- c) Connect the necessary cables to the 240V. See diagram in Annex 1 and information on wire in Annex 2. (Visual: A close-up of wiring terminals showing connections being made.)
Close the electronic box, seal the Thermofoil and close the side panel.
Open the hot tub.
On the keypad, press the "light" button for 30 seconds or until the code "b" appears. (Visual: A hot tub control panel with a digital display showing 'b'.)
With the up arrow, click until number 32 so you have b32 on the keyboard. (Visual: The same control panel, now displaying 'b32'.)
Press the "light" button one last time to confirm. (Visual: The control panel displaying '632', indicating successful confirmation.)
Don't hesitate to read the user's manual that came with the hot tub. Lots of useful information is included.
IMPORTANT
You must use a 40 amp GFCI when on 240V.
For 120V use, a GFCI directly into the wire is provided and must only be plugged into a dedicated 15 amp hot tub outlet.

ANNEX 2: INFORMATION ON WIRE
If you plan to operate your spa using a 220V electrical supply, you will be required to install a 220V 40A (minimum) GFCI breaker.
You have to connect your spa to this GFCI breaker and your home electrical panel.
Which wire to use?
- 1. If the spa is more than 50' from the wall outlet: a grounded 6 AWG/3 wire.
- 2. If the spa is located within 50' from the wall outlet: a grounded 8 AWG/3 wire.
Don't forget, we recommend using a certified electrician to install your GFCI breaker and to connect your spa to your house electrical panel. If your spa only runs on a 220V electrical circuit, no conversion is needed for the spa pack.
If your spa is convertible from 110V to 220V, you will find instructions to convert the spa pack on the inside of the spa pack cover.
Visuals: Two aerial views of spa installations are shown, with distance markers indicating 'SPA 40'' and 'SPA 57'' to illustrate wire run considerations.
