IMPORTANT: Save all outside packaging in case you need to return the product for service or repair.
Compressor Location
Use on Flat Surface
For proper operation, place the air compressor on a flat surface with an incline no greater than 15 degrees.
Maintain a Clear Area
Ensure adequate airflow around the machine. Maintain at least 2 feet of obstacle-free space surrounding and above the air compressor.
Use in Areas with Clean Air
For optimal operation and longevity, the air drawn into the compressor must be clean. Avoid areas with dust or particulates, as this can damage the motor. Always use the air filter, properly installed.
Operating the Air Compressor
Electrical Power
Electrical Power Requirements
DANGER: There is a danger of electric shock.
- Refer to the serial label for voltage and amperage requirements.
- Use a dedicated 220 volts, 60 hertz circuit.
- Low voltage or overload circuits can trip the motor's overload protection.
- Ensure sufficient electrical supply for the motor.
- Use only undamaged cords and ensure they are free of damage before connecting.
- Do not operate in wet conditions or with wet hands/feet.
- This product must be grounded. Use the provided grounding plug and connect to a properly installed and grounded outlet. Do not use adapters.
Electrical Extension Cords
CAUTION: Use caution when using extension cords.
- Use heavy-duty cords no longer than 25 ft (7.6 m) and at least 14 gauge.
- Using excessively long or thin cords can cause severe motor damage, voltage drop, power loss, and overheating.
- Use only 3-wire cords with a 3-blade grounding plug.
- Inspect all extension cords for damage.
Test Run
Before first use, complete a test run:
- Turn the power switch to OFF. Plug in the power supply cord.
- Turn the power switch to ON. The pressure gauge will rise.
- When the gauge reaches approximately 130 PSI, the pressure switch will automatically turn the compressor off. This indicates normal operation.
- Turn the power switch to OFF, unplug the cord, and release air from the tank via the drain valve.
Note: If the compressor is not working properly, the pressure gauge may indicate a pressure decrease. If an air leak is detected, turn off, release air using the safety valve, unplug, and contact Customer Support.
Daily Operation
Starting the Compressor:
- Turn the power switch to OFF.
- Attach a 1/4" Industrial Male quick coupler to your air hose and connect it to the compressor.
- Close the drain valve.
- Ensure air filters are attached.
- Plug the power supply cord into a power supply socket.
- Turn the power switch to ON.
- Let the motor run until the tank fills and the motor turns off.
- To regulate airflow: Turn on your tool, then turn the regulator knob clockwise to increase pressure until the desired level is reached.
- Operate the air tool normally. Do not run continuously for more than 1 hour.
Shutting Down the Compressor:
- Turn the power switch to OFF.
- Unplug the power supply cord.
- Release pressure from the air tank through the air hose.
Maintenance
Draining the Air Tank
Drain the air tank every 1 to 2 days, depending on environmental conditions and usage. Place the compressor above a container, slowly turn the drain valve knob to the open (forward/straight) position to drain water. Close the valve afterwards. Draining prevents rust and corrosion.
Cleaning or Changing the Air Filter
The air filter reduces noise and prevents particulates from entering the compressor. After time, it may become clogged, reducing performance. Clean the element by blowing off or brushing off dirt and dust. Replace if clogged.
Testing for Leaks
Ensure all connections are tight. Spray soapy water on suspected leak areas; if bubbles form, replace the part.
Cleaning
Clean with a soft brush or a moistened cloth using a biodegradable solvent. Do not use flammable liquids like gasoline or alcohol. Keep parts clean for better performance.
Pressure Switch
The pressure switch is factory set to shut off at 130 PSI (+/- 5 PSI) and restart at 100 PSI (+/- 5 PSI).
Storage
Before storing for extended periods:
- Turn off the power supply.
- Disconnect and wrap the power cord around the handle.
- Pull the relief valve to release all tank pressure.
- Clean the compressor to remove dirt and dust.
- Cover the compressor to protect it from dust and moisture.
- Do not stack items on or around the compressor.
CAUTION: TO REDUCE THE RISK OF ELECTRIC SHOCK, DO NOT EXPOSE TO RAIN. STORE INDOORS.
Troubleshooting
Problem | Possible Cause | Possible Solutions |
---|---|---|
Pressure drop in the tank. | Air leaks at connections. | Build pressure, apply soapy water to connections, tighten leaky connections. |
Pressure drop in the tank | Check Valve Spring Compressed | Release air, remove check valve cap and spring, clean and elongate spring, reinstall. |
The compressor stopped and does not start. | The thermal protector turned on because the motor is overheating. | Allow the motor to cool down. Excessive use (over 1 hour continuous) can cause overheating. Check extension cord (too thin/long can cause voltage drop and overheating). |
The motor does not start and makes a humming noise. | Motor windings are burned out. | Contact Customer Support. |
The motor does not start or starts slowly. | Low voltage supply to the motor. | Check main voltage against specifications. Use heavy-duty extension cords. Ensure the compressor is plugged into a fully functional power outlet. |
The compressor is noisy with metallic clangs. | Compressor head gasket or reed valve is damaged | Stop the compressor and contact the parts dealer. |
The compressor does not reach the maximum pressure. | Compressor head gasket or reed valve is faulty. | Stop the compressor and contact the parts dealer. |
The compressor doesn't seem to provide as much air as it did when new and/or the compressor cuts off within a much shorter time period. | The pressure switch needs adjusting. | Contact Customer Support. |
The motor pump unit does not stop when the tank pressure reaches its maximum working pressure (130 PSI). | The tank is full of water due to condensation. / Pressure switch defective or needs adjusting. | Open the drain valve and release water. / Stop the compressor immediately and contact Customer Support. |
