1 General Information

This document contains important instructions for the safe operation of the product. Read and follow the safety instructions and all other instructions. Keep the document for future reference. Make sure that it is available to all those using the product. If the product is sold to another user, ensure they also receive this document.

2 Safety Instructions

Intended Use

This device is intended for generating artificial fog by evaporating fog fluid, combined with an electronic lighting effect via LED technology. It is designed for professional use and is not suitable for households. Use the device only as described in this user manual. Any other use is considered improper and may result in personal injury or property damage. No liability will be assumed for damages resulting from improper use.

The device may only be used by persons with sufficient physical, sensory, and intellectual abilities and corresponding knowledge and experience. Other persons may use this device only if supervised or instructed by a person responsible for their safety.

ℹ️ Extend the life of the device by taking regular breaks during operation and avoid switching it on and off frequently. This device is not suitable for continuous use.

Safety Precautions

DANGER! Risk of injury and choking hazard for children! Children can suffocate on packaging material and small parts. Children can injure themselves when handling the device. Never allow children to play with the packaging material or the device. Always store packaging material out of reach of babies and small children. Always dispose of packaging material properly when not in use. Never allow children to use the device without supervision. Keep small parts away from children and ensure the device does not shed small parts (like knobs) that children could play with.
DANGER! Danger to life due to electric current! Areas within the device may have high voltages. Never remove any covers. There are no user-serviceable parts inside. Do not use the device if covers, safety equipment, or optical components are missing or damaged.
DANGER! Danger to life due to electric current! A short circuit could lead to a fire hazard and risk of death. Always use a proper, ready-made insulated triple-core mains cable with a safety plug. Do not modify the mains cable or plug. In case of insulation damage, disconnect the power supply immediately and arrange for repair. If in doubt, seek advice from a qualified electrician.
WARNING! Risk of burns from flammable liquids! The use of flammable liquids in the device may cause severe burns and property damage. Use only approved fog fluids. Never fill flammable liquids into the tank of the device.
WARNING! Risk of burns on the hot fog nozzle! The fog generated is hot. Hot fluid drops may occasionally escape. The fog nozzle can remain hot for several hours after switching off. Skin contact with hot fog and drops can lead to burns. Ensure a minimum distance of 50 cm to persons and objects during operation. Do not touch the fog nozzle during or immediately after operation. Before touching the device, ensure all surfaces have cooled down sufficiently.
WARNING! Slip hazard due to condensate pools! Fog can condense on floors and surfaces, creating slip hazards. Do not direct fog to floors or surfaces that may be stepped on. Regularly check accessible floors and surfaces for slipping hazards. If necessary, remove any condensate pools.
WARNING! Health hazard when handling fog fluid! Fog fluid contains glycols and poses a health risk in case of eye contact or ingestion. Keep fog fluid safely out of reach of children. Never ingest fog fluid and avoid eye contact. In case of accidental ingestion or eye contact: Do not induce vomiting if swallowed. Thoroughly rinse eyes with water. Seek immediate medical attention.
WARNING! Risk of eye damage caused by high light intensity! The device generates highly intense light radiation. Looking directly into the light source can damage eyes. Never look directly into the light source.
WARNING! Risk of epileptic fit due to flashing lights! The device emits flashing lights (strobe effects) which can trigger epileptic fits in susceptible individuals. If you are at risk of epilepsy, avoid prolonged exposure to flashing lights.
CAUTION! Possible respiratory problems due to fog fluid! Fog fluid can lead to respiratory problems with prolonged exposure or in certain individuals. Unsuitable fluids can generate toxic gases. Use only approved fog fluids. Claims for compensation for damages caused by non-approved fluids are excluded. Do not produce fog in poorly ventilated areas. Do not expose individuals with health problems (e.g., allergies, asthma) to artificial fog.
NOTICE! Risk of fire due to covered vents and neighbouring heat sources! Covering vents or operating near heat sources can cause overheating and fire. Never cover vents. Do not install near heat sources or naked flames.
NOTICE! Damage to the device if operated in unsuitable ambient conditions! The device can be damaged if operated in unsuitable ambient conditions. Operate indoors within specified ambient conditions. Avoid direct sunlight, heavy dirt, strong vibrations, and extreme temperature fluctuations. Do not switch on immediately after transport in cold conditions. Avoid liquids or moisture. Never move the device while in operation. In dusty environments, have the device cleaned by specialists at regular intervals to prevent overheating and malfunctions.
NOTICE! Damage to the device due to high voltages! Operating with incorrect voltage or high voltage peaks can damage the device and cause injury or fire. Ensure the voltage specification matches the local power grid. Use only professionally installed mains sockets protected by a residual current circuit breaker (FI). Disconnect from the power grid during storms or when not in use for extended periods.
NOTICE! Risk of fire due to installation of a wrong fuse! Using incompatible fuses can cause fire and serious damage. Only use fuses of the same type. Observe labelling on the device casing and technical data.

General information about how to safely operate fog machines and hazers

The device was designed for professional event technology and works reliably when used properly. Observe the following:

  • Follow all warnings in these operating instructions.
  • Never leave the device running unsupervised.
  • The device is not suitable for private households or as a child's toy.
  • Place the device on a stable, fire-proof base at least twice the size of the device.
  • Maintain a safety distance of 1 m to flammable materials.
  • The device is not intended for suspended assembly ("flying operation").
  • During operation, ensure visibility in the room does not fall below 2 m for safe orientation.
  • The fog or haze generated may trigger smoke alarms.

3 Features

This vertical fog machine with an LED effect ring is suitable for use in clubs, bars, night clubs, and on stages. The built-in LEDs are mounted around the fog outlet and illuminate the fog column in bold colours.

Special features of the device:

  • Vertical fog column of approx. 3 m height.
  • Coloured fog effects by built-in RGB LEDs.
  • Manual control via wired remote control with direct control of 8 colour combinations.
  • Flash button on the device for switchable strobe effect.
  • Suitable fog fluids: Fast fog for CO2 effect (item no. 209054), E-M fluid (item no. 121307), E fluid (item no. 105454).

Unsuitable fluids can damage the device. Only use the device with original Stairville fluids.

For technological reasons, the light output of LEDs decreases over their lifetime, especially with higher operating temperatures. Extend the service life of the illuminants by providing adequate ventilation and operating the LEDs at the lowest possible brightness.

4 Installation

Unpack and check carefully for any transportation damage before using the unit. Keep the equipment packaging. To fully protect the product against vibration, dust, and moisture during transportation or storage, use the original packaging or suitable alternative packaging material.

The device is designed for horizontal or vertical installation on the floor or even surfaces. Place the unit on a flat, stable, non-combustible surface. The device requires 50 cm clearance at the sides and above.

5 Connections and Controls

Rear Panel

The rear panel of the device features the following connections and controls:

  • 1 [POWER]: Rubber panel plug for power supply with fuse holder.
  • 2: Carrying handle.
  • 3 [ON | OFF]: Main switch to turn the device on and off.
  • 4 [STROBE]: Button to turn the strobe effect on and off.
  • 5 [HEATING]/[READY]: Indicator LEDs for heating up process and operating status.
  • 6: Fog fluid container with screw-cap.
  • 7: LED effect ring and fog nozzle for fog output.
  • 8: Fill level indicator.
  • 9 [REMOTE CONTROL]: Connection for the wired remote control.

Wired Remote Control

The wired remote control allows for operation and colour selection:

  • 10 [READY]/[ON] Indicator LEDs: [READY] lights up when the device is fully heated and ready for use. [ON] lights up when the trigger button on the remote is activated.
  • 11 [1] ... [8]: Buttons to activate a colour combination and simultaneously trigger a fog blast.

6 Operating

Filling the Device

NOTICE! Damage to the device due to the use of unsuitable fog fluids! Fog fluids not approved by the manufacturer may permanently damage the unit. Only use fog fluids listed on www.thomann.de and follow their instructions for use.

First, ensure the device is disconnected from the mains. Open the screw cap of the fluid container and fill it with fog fluid. Make sure no fog fluid is spilled or gets into the device. Using a funnel is recommended. The container capacity is 800 ml. Screw the cap firmly back on.

Switching on the Device

NOTICE! Risk of undetected fires in the absence of supervision! There is a general risk of fire when operating the device. If left unattended, fires can go undetected and cause great damage. Never operate the device unattended.

Connect the device to the mains power grid and turn it on with the main switch. During the heat-up time (approx. 3 minutes), the [HEATING] indicator LED lights up. The device is ready for use when the [HEATING] indicator LED goes out and the [READY] indicator LED lights up.

Operation

Operation with an empty fluid container can lead to overheating and permanent damage to the pump. When operating, always ensure there is sufficient fog fluid in the container to avoid no-load running.

Triggering Fog Blast and LED Effect

Connect the remote control to the [REMOTE CONTROL] connection socket on the control panel. Press the button for the desired colour of the LED effect ring to trigger a fog blast with that colour. The output duration is approx. 6 seconds. To stop fog output earlier, press any button on the remote control.

Adding the Strobe Effect

Press the [STROBE] button on the back of the device to switch on the strobe effect on the LED effect ring. To deactivate the strobe effect, press [STROBE] again.

Decommissioning the Device

Switch off the device using the main switch. Do not transport the device before it has cooled down completely. To avoid leaking fog fluid during transport, transport the device only with an empty fluid container.

8 Troubleshooting

The following lists common problems and suggestions for troubleshooting:

2. Check that the fog fluid and/or water tank is sufficiently filled.
3. Check the hose connections of the fog fluid and the water tank.

9 Cleaning

NOTICE! Possible damages caused by unsuitable cleaning agents

Cleaners not approved by the manufacturer may permanently damage the unit. Only use fog machine cleaners listed on www.thomann.de and follow their instructions for use.

Clean the appliance after every 30 operating hours, or if it was not in use for a longer period.

Procedure

  1. Make sure that the device is turned off, disconnected from the mains, and completely cooled down.
  2. Position the unit in a well-ventilated place.
  3. Insert the suction hose of the fog machine into the bottle with the fog machine cleaner.
  4. Connect the device to the mains power grid and turn it on with the main switch.
  5. Wait until the unit has reached the required operating temperature.
  6. Switch to continuous operation and let the device produce fog for about 20 seconds.
  7. Insert the suction hose of the fog machine back into the fog fluid container and let the device again produce fog for about 20 seconds. This will rinse the lines.

➡️ The cleaning is completed.

Fan Grids

The fan grids must be cleaned of contamination, such as dust, on a regular basis. Before cleaning, switch off the device and disconnect it from the mains. Only use pH-neutral, solvent-free, and non-abrasive cleaning agents. Clean the unit with a slightly damp, lint-free cloth.

10 Protecting the Environment

Disposal of the Packing Material

Environmentally friendly materials have been chosen for the packaging. These materials can be sent for normal recycling. Ensure that plastic bags, packaging, etc., are disposed of properly.

Do not dispose of these materials with normal household waste; ensure they are collected for recycling. Please follow the instructions and markings on the packaging.

Disposal of Your Old Device

This product is subject to the European Waste Electrical and Electronic Equipment Directive (WEEE) as amended.

Do not dispose of your old device with normal household waste. Instead, deliver it for controlled disposal by an approved waste disposal firm or through your local waste facility. When disposing of the device, comply with the rules and regulations applicable in your country. If in doubt, consult your local waste management facility. Proper disposal protects the environment and the health of fellow human beings.

Waste avoidance is a valuable contribution to environmental protection. Repairing a device or passing it on to another user is an ecologically valuable alternative to disposal.

If your old device contains personal data, delete that data before disposing of it.
