1. Introduction
The BL-R8812AF1 is based on the Realtek RTL8812AU chipset, functioning as a WLAN 11ac Dual Band module. It fully supports the features and functional compliance of IEEE 802.11 a/b/g/n/ac standards. This document outlines the engineering requirements specification.
1.1 RF Module Overview
The general hardware architecture of the module is depicted in Figure 1. This WLAN Module design utilizes the Realtek RTL8812AU, a highly integrated single-chip MIMO (Multiple In Multiple Out) Wireless LAN (WLAN) USB2.0 network interface controller that complies with the 802.11ac specification. It integrates MAC, a 2T2R capable baseband, and RF onto a single chip. The RTL8812AU provides a comprehensive solution for high-throughput wireless clients.
Figure 1: Module Block Diagram Description: The diagram illustrates the internal components of the BL-R8812AF1 module. It shows two antennas (Antenna A and Antenna B) connected to respective RF front-end (FE) modules, which include Low Noise Amplifiers (LNA) and Power Amplifiers (PA) for 2.4/5GHz bands. These connect to a transceiver, which interfaces with the RTL8812AU-VS chip. The chip contains the MAC, Configuration Control and Memory, and Baseband processing. It interfaces with external components such as NV Memory, a 40 MHz Crystal oscillator, and a USB Interface. Power is supplied via an external 3.3V power source. Additional interfaces include LED/GPIO Pins and a BT co-existence interface.
