General Information
Integral coils mount directly to specially threaded spark plugs or adaptors. Proper installation is essential to achieve the designed life expectancy and performance of these coils. Applying excessive torque during installation could damage the internal seals of the spark plug, potentially leading to contamination and/or heat damage to the coil from combustion leakage.
Integral Coil Installation
- Ensure the spark plugs have been installed according to the Original Equipment Manufacturer's (OEM) recommendations.
- NEVER torque the spark plugs using the integral coil.
- Screw the coil onto the already properly installed spark plug until it is fully seated.
- Tighten the coil firmly by hand.
- Then, using a torque wrench, tighten the coil to 5 - 10 ft.-lbs. of torque.
- Never exceed 10 ft.-lbs.
- DO NOT use any thread lubricant between the coil and the spark plug.
