Installing the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi
Prepare Door for Installation
Ensure the following criteria are met for proper installation:
- Check the door status and ensure the doorframe is aligned with the door.
- Ensure there are no obstructions in the doorframe.
- Leave enough space for the deadbolt to extend into the doorframe when the door is locked.
Check your door/frame dimensions to ensure they fit the following measurements:
- Cross bore diameter: 2⅛" / 54 mm or 1½" / 38 mm
- Backset: 2⅜" / 60 mm or 2¾" / 70 mm
- Door hole diameter: 1" / 25 mm
- Door thickness: 1⅜" / 35 mm - 2" / 55 mm
If you have an existing lock, remove it, including the bolt.
Step 1: Install the Deadbolt
To install the deadbolt:
- Measure your door's backset dimension: 2⅜" / 70 mm or 2⅜" / 60 mm.
- If your door's backset is 2⅜" / 60 mm, use the provided deadbolt. If it's 2¾" / 70 mm, turn the faceplate 180° and pull to extend the deadbolt until it locks in position.
- Insert the deadbolt into the doorframe with the word "TOP" facing up.
- Screw into the doorframe with a screwdriver (not provided).
Step 2: Install the Strike Plate
If you have an existing strike plate installed, skip this step.
To install the strike plate:
- Align the strike plate with the center hole of the deadbolt.
- Secure the strike plate with strike screws, ensuring correct direction.
To enhance security, install the strike reinforcer first:
- Attach the strike reinforcer on the doorframe and tighten the reinforcement screws with a screwdriver (not provided).
Note: This step is necessary to maintain BHMA Grade 2 security. You can install the strike plate directly if desired.
Step 3: Install the Exterior Assembly
To install the exterior assembly into the doorframe:
- Measure your cross bore dimension and determine installation steps. Use the provided spacer for a 2" / 54 mm cross bore, or remove it for a 1½" / 38 mm crossbore.
- Route the cable from the exterior assembly under the deadbolt.
- Align the tailpiece with the center hole of the deadbolt and insert it into the center hole.
Step 4: Install the Mounting Plate
- Route the cable through the mounting plate.
- Fix the mounting plate onto the interior doorframe using the mounting plate screws. Ensure screws go through the deadbolt and mounting plate holes to lock in place.
- Option A: If the mounting plate fits perfectly, proceed to Step 5.
- Option B: If the mounting plate is not fastened tightly, use an additional screw.
Step 5: Install the Interior Assembly
To install the Interior Assembly:
- Remove the battery cover.
- Match the wire connector from the circuit board with the one from the interior assembly. Ensure correct alignment (dot on connector to pin on circuit board).
- Align the tailpiece with the key cylinder.
- Secure the provided screws into the interior assembly.
- Turn the thumbturn to check if the deadbolt retracts smoothly. Adjust screws if necessary.
- Use the plug to cover the screw hole at the bottom of the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi.
Note: Check carefully whether the wire is stuck or tangled. If it is, re-install the Interior Assembly.
Step 6: Install the Battery
Align the pin connector on the battery with the pin and slide the battery into the battery compartment.
You are all set! Follow the in-app instructions to set up the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi.
Note: Do not close the battery cover yet. This allows access to the QR code for information and the Setup button.
Setting Up the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi
Pair Your Phone with Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi
Note: The lock will not lock automatically before setup is complete. To avoid being locked out, pair your phone and set an access code.
To pair your phone:
- Scan the QR code on the back of the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi for Bluetooth information. Follow on-screen instructions to complete setup.
- Pair your phone with the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi via Bluetooth. Your phone will search for the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi's Bluetooth and connect.
Note:
- Waiting to pair: LED indicator flashes blue.
- Paired: LED indicator turns steady blue for 5 seconds.
- The paired user is the sole administrator and can authorize other users.
- Pressing and holding the Setup button resets the lock to default settings. All settings will be erased. Avoid this unless necessary.
Calibrate Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi
Once paired, the eufy Security app will prompt you to calibrate the door lock. Ensure the door is closed before calibrating. The door sensor records the locked position for automatic locking.
Follow the on-screen instructions to complete calibration.
- Successfully calibrated: The button LED turns white for 2 seconds, then off. Voice prompt: "calibration complete".
- Fail to calibrate: The button and status LED turn solid red for 2 seconds, then off. Voice prompt: "The deadbolt is stuck. Please return to the installation, and try again."
Note: If calibration fails, check the door installation and try again.
Set Access Code
After calibration, the eufy Security app will prompt you to name your Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi and set an access code (4-8 characters). Follow on-screen instructions.
Note: If you click "Return" without setting a passcode, an "initialization unsuccessful" message will appear. Click the card to access the Smart Lock Touch & Wi-Fi page where you can "Continue or remove the device".
Set Scramble Passcode
A scramble passcode is a series of random numbers to prevent others from spying on your access code. It's useful in shared living spaces. Set a scramble passcode (up to 12 digits) in the eufy Security app's Settings.
Register Your Fingerprint
After setting an access code, the eufy Security app will prompt you to register your fingerprint. The fingerprint light will breathe white.
- Register your fingerprint by placing it on the touch screen. If valid, it will be recorded. You must register your fingerprint 8 times. Each successful registration lights up the corresponding number (1-8).
- If the app fails to record your fingerprint, the light will breathe red. Move your finger slightly and try again.
- Once successfully registered, the fingerprint light will turn off.
Note:
- People over 70 and children under 5 are recommended to use keypads for access codes.
- Use your thumb, index, or middle finger for fingerprint registration.
- You can skip fingerprint registration during initialization and do it later.
