Understanding Body Analysis Measurements:
Weight and Body Fat:
The scale uses bioelectrical impedance analysis (BIA) to estimate body fat by sending a low electrical current through the lower body. The speed of the current, which varies based on water, muscle, bone, and fat, is used to calculate body fat percentage.
Accuracy Factors: Body fat measurements can fluctuate due to changes in body water content, hydration status, skin temperature, and recent activity. It is recommended to track trends over time rather than relying on single daily results. Results may not be accurate for individuals under 16, those with elevated body temperature, diabetes, or other health conditions.
Body Fat Percentage: Calculated as (pounds of fat / total body weight) * 100. Weight loss may not immediately reflect a significant drop in body fat percentage if lean tissue is also lost. Focus on the absolute amount of fat lost and incorporate strength training to minimize lean tissue loss.
BMI (Body Mass Index):
BMI is a statistical measure derived from height and weight, closely linked to body fat and health. The scale calculates BMI with each weight reading.
Body Water/Hydration Levels:
Measured using BIA, this indicates the percentage of water in your body. General recommendations suggest consuming approximately 64 oz. of water daily. Avoid taking hydration measurements after exercise, drinking fluids, or during menstrual cycles, as these can affect results.
Bone Mass:
Bone mass is a living tissue. While most people do not need to monitor it, certain groups may benefit from tracking changes. Use the reading as a guide and consult a healthcare provider for detailed explanations.
Muscle Mass:
Muscle mass is part of lean body mass, measured as a percentage of total body weight. Losing muscle mass during weight loss is undesirable. Regular physical activity, especially strength training, helps preserve muscle.

Tips for Using Your Scale:
- Track changes over time, not day-to-day.
- Use the same scale consistently.
- Be consistent with the time of day, day of the week, and your eating/drinking/exercise schedule when measuring body composition.
Important Information Concerning Weight Management:
When Losing Weight: Your scale is a tool for monitoring weight trends over weeks and months. Be aware that daily weight can fluctuate due to factors like salt and carbohydrate intake, meals, dehydration, muscle gain, and the menstrual cycle. Weigh yourself no more than once a week, on the same day, at the same time, in the same place, wearing the same clothes, and using the same scale for consistent tracking.
When Maintaining Weight: Weigh yourself more often than once a week and use the "5-pound rule" to keep weight within a stable range.
Precautions for Use:
- CAUTION: Not recommended for individuals with pacemakers or pregnant women. Consult a physician if you have health concerns.
- Remove all packing materials.
- Remove the isolator tab from the battery compartment.
- For best accuracy, place the scale on a tile or hardwood floor.
- To switch between pounds (lb) and kilograms (kg), turn the scale over and use the switch on the back.
Battery Replacement:
When the display shows "Lo", replace the 3 AAA alkaline batteries. Remove the screw from the battery cover, replace batteries ensuring correct polarity, and re-secure the cover. Dispose of old batteries properly.
