Material Care and Maintenance
Regular maintenance is essential.
Stainless Steel
The shiny, uniform, and decorative surface of stainless steel makes it suitable for outdoor use. Stainless steel is an alloy of iron, chrome, and nickel. A protective oxide layer forms on the surface. This surface is affected by atmospheric conditions and requires regular maintenance to remain shiny and rust-free. Treat with acid-free oil before mounting, wipe with soft cloth. Repeat 3-4 times annually. Not recommended for aggressive environments (coastal, agricultural, industrial).
Copper, Brass, and Tombac
Made from solid materials. May develop minor scratches, hidden by patina. Surface may stain initially but darkens over time. Copper develops green patina; brass/tombac darkens uniformly. Process depends on environment.
Hot-Galvanized Lamps
Manual zinc treatment (approx. 460°C). Surface may be uneven with minor drop formations. Thin "zinc curtains" may occur and can be removed with a soft brush. Starts shiny, becomes matte/rustic.
Aluminum Lamps
Die-cast/extruded aluminum. Raw aluminum has clear lacquer coating; painted lamps are powder-coated. Clean and wipe 3-4 times a year. Black lamps may need silicone spray. Not recommended for aggressive environments (corrosion risk).
Condensation
Natural phenomenon from humidity/temperature changes. Damp, warm air meeting cold surfaces causes condensation. Rising vapor can affect electrical components. Not covered by warranty unless caused by a manufacturing defect. Check installation, seals, and tightness. Ground moisture can cause condensation in post lamps; use sealant if needed.
Important Notes:
- Keep drainage holes clear.
- Dry all parts before reassembly.
Warranty Information
Nordlux offers a 15-year warranty on copper, brass, tombac, and galvanized finishes against extensive corrosion (holes from rust). Requires proof of purchase. Excludes damage from wear, tear, or mistreatment.
Disposal Information (WEEE)
Do not dispose of with household waste (crossed-out bin symbol). Contains harmful substances if not recycled properly. Users must take waste electrical/electronic equipment to designated collection points for recycling. This helps protect the environment and human health. Contact local authorities, waste disposal service, or retailer for more information.
