Recycling Information
This product must not be disposed of with normal household waste. Hand it in at an official collection centre or return it to the dealer when purchasing a similar new product. Follow local regulations for separate collection of electrical and electronic products. Separate collection and recycling are better for the environment and public health.
Setting Up Your Aquarium
Choose a relatively dark location, like a room corner. Avoid direct sunlight, as too much light can lead to algae growth and harm inhabitants due to overheating.
Step 1: Placement
Place the aquarium on a flat, smooth, horizontal, and adequately load-bearing surface. Do not place on electrical appliances or furniture susceptible to water damage.
Note total weights: Quadro 40 approx. 40 kg, Quadro 70 approx. 80 kg.
Step 2: Cleaning and Substrate
Clean the aquarium and accessories thoroughly with clean tap water. Rinse aquarium gravel completely. Never use cleaning products or alcohol; use a clean bucket.
Cover the bottom with clean aquarium gravel. For planted aquariums, add a nutrient substrate first, then cover with gravel.
Support heavy rocks with material like foam to prevent glass breakage (no warranty coverage).
Step 3: Filling and Planting
Slowly fill the aquarium with clean tap water (around 20°C). Use a plate or glass under the water stream to prevent dislodging gravel or substrate.
Fill to half, add plants, then finish filling. Planting about 80% of the bottom surface is recommended. Include fast-growing stem plants to help prevent algae.
Step 4: Heater Installation (Optional)
For tropical fish and shrimp, an aquarium heater is needed. The Quadro design has a space in the filter compartment for a heater.
Recommended heaters: Quadro 40: SuperFish Heater 50 W; Quadro 70: SuperFish Heater 100 W.
Route cables discreetly using the rear cable support. Read the heater manual before use.
Aquarium Maintenance
Step 5: Water Treatment
After filling or water changes, add water conditioner to remove toxins and protect fish/shrimp. Add bacterial culture to establish and maintain the biological filter.
Step 6: Temperature and Cycling
Let the aquarium run for at least 2 days (preferably 1 week) before adding fish/shrimp. Ensure water temperature is correct (check with thermometer).
When changing water, always check the fresh water temperature; large fluctuations can harm inhabitants.
Recommended temperatures: Tropical fish: 24-26°C; Coldwater fish: 18-20°C.
Step 7: Water Testing
Test aquarium water and adjust parameters before buying fish, shrimp, and plants. Your dealer can also perform tests.
After adding inhabitants, test water every 2 days for 2 weeks, correcting parameters as needed. Subsequently, test water quality weekly.
Step 8: Weekly Water Change
Weekly, change 20% of the aquarium water and clean gravel/walls. Ensure fresh water is the same temperature as aquarium water.
Add water conditioner and bacterial culture after each cleaning.
Step 9: Feeding
Proper feeding is crucial for healthy fish and shrimp. Overfeeding pollutes water and can cause illness or death.
Feed once daily only what inhabitants can consume in 5 minutes. Hikari Feed is recommended.
Step 10: Filter Maintenance
The filter keeps water healthy. Clean the cartridge every two weeks.
Remove filter from aquarium, carefully remove cartridge, and rinse with clean tap water. The cartridge contains Crystal Clear to absorb harmful substances.
Replace filter media monthly (see page 16). Always disconnect the filter from the mains before maintenance.
Lighting Control: Use the [light-button] to turn on Multi Colour lighting and select colour. Press and hold the [light-button] for 3 seconds to turn off. Use the [demo-button] for demo mode (colour changing).
