Cateye Urban Wireless Cyclocomputer CC-VT220W Owner's Manual
Installation
This section details the installation of the Cateye Urban Wireless Cyclocomputer CC-VT220W.
Components:
- 1. Bracket
- 2. Dial
- 3. Sensor
- 4. Magnet
- 5. Bracket band
- 6. Sensor rubber pad
- 7. Bracket rubber pad
- 8. Nylon ties (x2)
Bracket Installation:
The bracket can be mounted on either the bicycle's stem or handlebar. Use the included bracket rubber pad and bracket band for a secure fit. Once the bracket is mounted, the computer can be attached by aligning it with the bracket and pressing until it clicks.
Sensor and Magnet Installation:
The wireless sensor is designed to receive signals from the magnet attached to a bicycle spoke. The sensor should be mounted on the front fork. Ensure the magnet passes through the sensor's detection zone, maintaining a clearance of 5 mm or less. The computer's transmission range to the sensor is a maximum of 70 cm.
Setting
This section covers the initial setup and configuration of the cyclocomputer.
1. All Clear:
Resets all data and settings to their default values, displaying zeros for all measurement fields.
2. Select Speed Unit:
Choose between kilometers per hour (km/h) or miles per hour (mph) for speed display.
3. Tire Size:
Accurate tire size setting is crucial for correct speed and distance measurements. Two methods are available:
- Quick setting size: Select from common pre-defined wheel sizes (e.g., 27", 26").
- Detailed setting size: Manually input the ETRTO tire size or the tire circumference in centimeters (cm).
4. Clock Setting:
Set the current time, choosing between a 12-hour or 24-hour format.
Operation Flow
This section describes how to use the cyclocomputer during rides.
Measurement Start/Stop:
Measurements begin automatically when the bicycle starts moving. The speed unit (km/h or mph) will flash to indicate active measurement.
Switching Computer Function:
Press the MODE button to cycle through different displayed data fields, such as:
- TM (Elapsed Time): Total time the computer has been measuring.
- DST (Trip Distance): Distance covered during the current ride.
- AV (Average Speed): The average speed for the current ride.
- MX (Maximum Speed): The highest speed recorded during the current ride.
- CAL (Calorie Consumption): Estimated calories burned based on speed data.
- CO2 (Carbon Offset): Estimated carbon emissions saved by cycling, calculated based on distance.
- ODO (Total Distance): The cumulative distance the computer has recorded since its first use.
- Clock: The current time.
Data Reset:
Pressing and holding the MODE button on the measurement screen resets the TM, DST, AV, MX, CAL, and CO2 data to zero. The ODO (total distance) is not reset.
Power-saving Mode:
If the computer does not receive a sensor signal for 10 minutes, it enters a power-saving mode, displaying only the clock. When a sensor signal is detected, the measurement screen reappears. If the computer remains inactive for two weeks, it enters a SLEEP mode. Pressing MODE in SLEEP mode will reactivate the measurement screen.
Indicators:
- [Sensor Signal Icon]: Flashes in sync with the sensor signal.
- [Pace Arrow]: Indicates if the current speed is faster or slower than the average speed.
- [Selected Mode Indicator]: Shows which data field is currently displayed.
- [Battery Case Cover]: Indicates the compartment for the battery.
Maintenance and Troubleshooting
This section provides guidance on maintaining the cyclocomputer and resolving common issues.
Maintenance:
- Cleaning: Use a soft cloth dampened with diluted neutral detergent to clean the computer and accessories. Wipe dry with a separate cloth. Avoid using thinners, benzene, or alcohol.
- Replacing Battery: Both the computer and sensor use a CR2032 lithium battery. Replace the battery when the display dims or signal reception weakens. Ensure the (+) side faces upwards. After replacing the computer battery, follow the initial setting procedures.
Troubleshooting:
- Sensor Signal Icon Not Flashing (Speed Not Displayed):
- Check that the clearance between the sensor and magnet is within 5 mm.
- Ensure the magnet passes correctly through the sensor zone.
- Adjust the positions of the magnet and sensor.
- Verify the computer is installed at the correct angle, with the back facing the sensor.
- Check the distance between the computer and sensor (should be within 20 to 70 cm).
- Consider battery drain, especially in cold temperatures; replace batteries if necessary.
- No Display: The computer battery may be depleted. Replace it with a new battery and follow the setting procedures.
- Incorrect Data Appears: Follow the procedures described in the "Setting" section to reconfigure the computer.
