Important Safety Information

WARNING: Carefully read, understand, and follow all information in this user manual before installing and using the swimming pool. These warnings, instructions, and safety guidelines address common risks of water recreation but cannot cover all situations. Always use caution, common sense, and good judgment.

Non-Swimmer Safety

  • Continuous, active, and vigilant supervision by a competent adult is required at all times for weak swimmers and non-swimmers. Children under five are at the highest risk of drowning.
  • Designate a competent adult to supervise the pool each time it is used.
  • Weak swimmers or non-swimmers should wear personal protection equipment.
  • When the pool is not in use or unsupervised, remove all toys from the pool and surrounding area to avoid attracting children.

Safety Devices

  • To prevent drowning, it is recommended to secure access to the pool with a protection device.
  • Install a barrier and secure doors/windows to prevent unauthorized access, especially to prevent children from climbing via inlet/outlet valves.
  • Barriers, pool covers, and alarms are helpful but not substitutes for adult supervision.

Safety Equipment

  • Keep rescue equipment (e.g., a ring buoy) by the pool.
  • Keep a working phone and emergency numbers near the pool.

Safe Use of the Pool

  • Encourage users, especially children, to learn how to swim.
  • Learn Basic Life Support (CPR) and refresh knowledge regularly.
  • Instruct all pool users on emergency procedures.
  • Never dive into shallow water; this can cause serious injury or death.
  • Do not use the pool while under the influence of alcohol or medication that impairs judgment.
  • Remove pool covers completely from the water surface before entering.
  • Protect occupants from water-related illnesses by treating water and practicing good hygiene. Consult water treatment guidelines.
  • Store chemicals (water treatment, cleaning products) out of children's reach.
  • Display appropriate safety signage within 2 meters of the pool.

General Warnings:

  • Keep children under supervision in the aquatic environment. No diving.
  • Removable ladders must be placed on a horizontal surface.
  • Regularly check accessible surfaces for injuries. Monitor bolts and screws; remove splinters or sharp edges.
  • ATTENTION: Do not leave the drained pool outside; it may deform or be displaced by wind.
  • If using a filter pump, refer to its manual. WARNING: The pump cannot be used while people are inside the pool!
  • If using a ladder, refer to its manual.
  • Compliance with safety instructions in the operating and maintenance guide is mandatory. Ensure constant adult supervision, especially for children under 5.

Pool Setup and Preparation

Smooth Out the Bottom: After adding 1" to 2" (2.5cm to 5cm) of water to cover the floor, gently smooth out all wrinkles. Start in the center and work clockwise towards the outside.

Choosing the Correct Location

NOTE: The pool must be set up on a completely flat and level surface. Do not install if the surface is inclined or sloped.

Correct Conditions:

  • The location must uniformly support the pool's weight and be flat, cleared of all objects and debris (stones, twigs).
  • Position the pool away from objects children could use to climb into it.
  • Position the pool near an adequate drainage system for overflow or discharge.

Incorrect Conditions:

  • Uneven ground can cause the pool to collapse, leading to injury or property damage, and voiding the warranty.
  • Sand should not be used for leveling; dig out the ground if necessary.
  • Avoid areas directly under overhead power lines or trees. Ensure no underground utility pipes, lines, or cables are present.
  • Do not set up on driveways, decks, platforms, gravel, or asphalt. The surface must be firm enough to withstand water pressure. Mud, sand, soft/loose soil, or tar are unsuitable.
  • Grass or vegetation under the pool will die, causing odors and slime. Remove grass from the selected location.
  • Avoid areas with aggressive plant or weed species that may grow through the ground cloth or liner.

NOTE: Check local city council by-laws for fencing, barriers, lighting, and safety requirements.

NOTE: If you have a filter pump, refer to its manual for instructions.

NOTE: The ladder must match the pool size and be used only for entering and exiting. Do not exceed the ladder's payload. Check ladder assembly regularly.

Installation

Installation typically takes approximately 20-30 minutes with 2-3 people (excluding earthworks and filling).

ATTENTION: Bestway is not responsible for damage caused by mishandling or failure to follow instructions.

  1. Lay out all parts and check quantities against the components list. Contact Bestway Customer Service if any part is missing.
  2. Spread out the pool, ensuring it is right side up. Let it sit in direct sunlight for at least 1 hour to make the liner more flexible.
  3. Place the pool near a drainage system and ensure the inlet (A) and outlet (B) are positioned for filter pump connection. Note: Do not use extension power cords. ATTENTION: Do not drag the pool on the ground, as this can damage it.
  4. Insert stopper plugs into inlet (A) and outlet (B) from inside the pool. (Refer to Fig. 1 for stopper plugs). For pools with a connection valve, refer to the connection valve installation section.
  5. Insert top rail (A) into the pole pockets at the top of the pool. (Refer to Fig. 2 for top rail insertion).
  6. Connect top rail (A) with T-Connectors (C) at each corner. Insert pins (D) into gasket (F) first, then into pre-drilled holes of the frame. NOTE: Gasket cups should face downwards to prevent water leakage into top rails. (Refer to Figs. 3, 4, 5 for pin and gasket installation).
  7. Repeat steps 5 and 6 until all top rails are connected. For the last two rails, slightly raise them to an inverted 'V' shape to insert into the last T-Connectors (C). Slowly lower until fully connected, taking care not to pinch fingers. (Refer to Fig. 6).
  8. Attach all footings (E) to the bottom of the vertical pool legs (B). (Refer to Fig. 7 for footing attachment).
  9. Place vertical pool legs (B) inside the pool wall band. Connect vertical pool leg (B) into the bottom of the T-Connector (C). Ensure the vertical pool leg (B) has spring-loaded pins at the top when connecting to the T-Connector (C). (Refer to Fig. 8). NOTE: 8' x 24" (2.44m x 61cm) pools do not have a wall band.
  10. Pull the frame from different directions to ensure all rails, legs, and connectors are firmly joined. (Refer to Fig. 9).
  11. Ensure the drain valve is firmly closed. Smooth out the bottom.
  12. Add 1" to 2" (2.5cm to 5cm) of water to cover the floor. Once slightly covered, gently smooth out all wrinkles, starting from the center and working clockwise.

Filling Pool with Water

ATTENTION: Do not leave the pool unattended while filling.

  1. Fill the pool until water capacity reaches 90%. DO NOT OVERFILL, as this could cause the pool to collapse. In heavy rainfall, you may need to drain some water to maintain the correct level. (Refer to Figs. 11, 12).
  2. After filling, check that water is not collecting on any side to ensure the pool is level.
  3. IMPORTANT: If the pool is not level, drain water and re-level the ground by digging. Never attempt to move the pool with water in it, as this can cause serious injury or damage.
  4. WARNING: If the pool has any bulge or uneven side, it is not level. The sides may burst, discharging water suddenly and causing serious injury or property damage.
  5. Check the pool for leaks at valves or seams and check the ground cloth for water loss. Do not add chemicals until this is done.
  6. NOTE: In case of a leak, use the provided underwater adhesive repair patch. Refer to FAQs for more information.

Proper Water Level: Fill to 90% capacity, up to the bottom of the top rail. Leave extra room for water displacement when occupants are in the pool. Top up water lost through evaporation or normal use.

NOTE: Drawings are for illustration purposes only and may not reflect the actual product. Not to scale.

Pool Maintenance

Failure to adhere to maintenance guidelines can put your health at risk, especially for children.

IMPORTANT: Incorrect water chemical levels can damage and discolor the PVC liner.

Regularly check pH and chlorine concentration weekly and adjust to ideal values.

TEST IDEAL VALUES
pH value 7.4 - 7.6
Cyanuric acid 30 - 50 ppm
Free chlorine 2 - 4 ppm
Chlorine compound 0
Algae None visible
Calcium hardness 200 - 400 ppm

To Keep Your Pool Clean:

  1. Consult your local pool supply shop for advice and chemicals. Maintaining clean and healthy water is crucial for liner life. Follow professional advice for water treatment.
  2. Keep a bucket of water near the pool to clean users' feet before entering.
  3. Cover the pool when not in use.
  4. Skim the pool regularly to remove debris.
  5. Check and wash the filter cartridge regularly.
  6. Gently clean any scum from below the top ring with a clean cloth.
  7. Be careful with rainwater; check that the water level is not too high. If it is, discharge excess water.

Proper maintenance maximizes the pool's life. The filtration system must be used daily for a sufficient time to ensure at least one complete water volume renewal.

ATTENTION: Do not use the pump when the pool is in use.

Repair

Check the pool for leaks at valves or seams and check the ground cloth for water loss. Do not add chemicals until this is done.

NOTE: In the event of a leak, patch the pool using the provided underwater adhesive repair patch. Refer to the FAQs for further information.

Dismantling

  1. Unscrew the drain valve cap counter-clockwise and remove it.
  2. Connect the adaptor to a hose and place the other end in the drainage area. (Check local regulations for drainage by-laws).
  3. Screw the control ring of the hose adaptor clockwise onto the drain valve. The valve will open, and water will drain automatically. ATTENTION: Water flow can be controlled with the control ring.
  4. When draining is finished, unscrew the control ring to close the valve.
  5. Disconnect the hose.
  6. Screw the cap back onto the drain valve.
  7. Air dry the pool. ATTENTION: Do not leave the drained pool outside.

Storage and Winterization

  1. Remove and store all accessories and spare parts clean and dry.
  2. Once the pool is completely dry, sprinkle with talcum powder to prevent sticking, then fold carefully. If not completely dry, mold may form and damage the liner.
  3. Store the liner and accessories in a dry place with moderate temperatures (5°C / 41°F to 38°C / 100°F).
  4. During the rainy season, store pool and accessories as per these instructions.
  5. Improper draining can cause serious personal injury or property damage.
  6. Disassemble the pool during the off-season (winter months). Store in a dry location out of children's reach.

Frequently Asked Questions (FAQ)

  1. What is a suitable base for the Frame Set pool? Any completely flat, solid, level surface. Avoid sand for leveling as it shifts. Dig out ground if necessary. Do not set up on driveways, decks, platforms, gravel, or asphalt. The ground must be firm enough for water pressure. Mud, sand, soft/loose soil, or tar are unsuitable. Concrete bases are acceptable, but avoid dragging the pool across them. If on a lawn, remove grass where the pool sits to prevent odors/slime. Certain hardy grasses or bushes near the pool can grow through the liner. Use a ground cloth for protection.
  2. How will I know if my pool is set up on unleveled ground? If the pool bulges on one side, it's unleveled. Empty the pool and move it to a level site. Uneven ground stresses seams, potentially causing bursts, flooding, property damage, or injury. Fill the pool according to instructions to ensure it's level and easy to move for ground leveling.
  3. Can I have my pool filled by a water service? Using a garden hose under low pressure is recommended. If using a water delivery service, fill with one inch of water first and smooth wrinkles. Ensure the service can regulate flow to prevent damage. Stop filling at each step in the manual to ensure the pool remains level. Bestway is not responsible for damage caused by water delivery services.
  4. What is the maximum fill height of the pool? Fill until water capacity is 90%, up to the bottom of the top rail. Never fill beyond the base of the rail. Leave extra room for water displacement. Top up water lost through evaporation or normal use.
  5. My pool is leaking, what do I do to fix it? Holes can be repaired without emptying the pool. Use self-adhesive underwater repair patches (available at pool/hardware stores). For external use, use the provided patch. For internal holes, clean the area, cut a patch large enough to cover the hole, and apply securely in the water. Apply a second patch to the outside for extra strength. If the hole is in the base, use one patch and weigh it down while it bonds. If patching an empty pool, allow at least 12 hours before filling.
  6. Where can I buy filter cartridges and how often should I change them? Filter cartridges are available from the store where the pool was purchased or most mass retailers. If unavailable, contact Bestway for assistance. Cartridges should be changed every 2 weeks depending on use. Check the filter weekly and clean by hosing down debris. Note: Disconnect the pump from the electrical supply before checking the filter cartridge. Visit www.bestwaycorp.com for cartridge purchases.
  7. How many times a year should I change the water? This depends on usage, covering the pool, and chemical balance. If maintained correctly, water can last a full summer season. Contact a local pool chemical supplier for detailed advice on maintaining water cleanliness.
  8. Do I need to take my pool down for the winter? Yes. Above-ground pools can collapse under ice/snow weight, damaging PVC walls. Disassemble when temperatures fall below 8°C / 45°F. Store indoors in a moderate temperature (5°C / 41°F to 38°C / 100°F), away from chemicals and rodents, and out of children's reach.
  9. My pool is fading - why is that? Excessive use of chemicals can cause the liner color to fade, similar to how swimwear fades from chlorinated water.
  10. How many years will the pool last? There is no set time limit. Proper care, maintenance, and storage, following the owner's manual, can significantly increase the pool's lifespan. Improper setup, use, or care can lead to failure.
  11. Do you recommend the use of a filter pump with a Bestway pool? Absolutely. A filter pump is strongly recommended to maintain water cleanliness.
  12. What are the most important functions of my filter pump? The primary function is to eliminate impurities from the water using a filter cartridge and chemical sterilization products.
