Read these simple guidelines. Failure to follow the guidelines may be dangerous or violate local laws and regulations. Read the full user guide for more information.
Switch Off the Device in Areas Where Use is Prohibited
Switch off the device when the use of mobile devices is not allowed or when it may cause interference or danger, for example, in aircraft, in hospitals, or near medical equipment, near fuel, chemicals, or in areas where explosives are used. Follow all instructions in areas where use is prohibited.
Road Safety Comes First
Obey all local laws. Always keep your hands free to drive the vehicle while driving. Road safety should be your top priority while driving.
Interference
All wireless devices may be susceptible to interference, which can negatively affect the device's operation.
Authorized Service
This product should only be installed or repaired by authorized personnel.
Batteries, Chargers, and Other Accessories
Use only batteries, chargers, and other accessories approved by HMD Global Oy for use with this device. Do not connect incompatible products.
Keep the Device Dry
If your device is water-resistant, you can find more information about the IP code in the technical specifications.
Preventing Hearing Damage
Do not listen for long periods at high volume levels to prevent possible hearing damage. Be careful when holding the device close to your ear while the loudspeaker is in use.
Some wireless devices may cause interference in some hearing aids.
Protecting the Device from Harmful Content
The device may be exposed to viruses and other harmful content. Take the following precautions:
- Be careful when opening messages. Messages may contain harmful software or be otherwise harmful to the device or computer.
- Be careful when accepting connection requests or when browsing the internet. Do not accept Bluetooth® connections from sources you do not trust.
- Install antivirus and other security software on any connected computer.
- If you open pre-installed bookmarks and links to third-party websites, take precautions. HMD Global does not endorse these sites and is not responsible for them.
Vehicles
Radio signals can affect electronic systems in vehicles that are incorrectly installed or insufficiently shielded. For more information, consult the manufacturer of your vehicle or the equipment installed in it. The device should only be mounted in a car by authorized personnel. Improper installation may pose risks and void the warranty. Regularly check that the wireless equipment in the car is still securely attached and functioning correctly. Do not store or transport flammable or explosive materials in the same compartment as the device or its associated parts or accessories. Never place your device or accessories in front of an airbag.
Areas with a Risk of Explosion
Switch off the device if you are in an environment with a risk of explosion, such as near petrol stations. Sparks can cause an explosion or fire, which could result in injury or death. Note restrictions in areas with fuel, chemical plants, or where blasting operations are carried out. Environments with an explosion risk are not always clearly marked. These are typically areas where you are advised to switch off your engine, the lower deck of boats, places for transferring and storing chemicals, and environments where the air contains chemicals or particles. Inquire with manufacturers of vehicles that run on liquid gas (such as propane or butane) whether this device can be safely used in their vicinity.
Certification Information
This mobile device complies with the guidelines for radio wave exposure.
This mobile device is a radio transmitter and receiver. It is designed not to exceed the limit for exposure to radio waves (electromagnetic radio frequency fields) recommended by the independent scientific organization ICNIRP. These guidelines include important safety margins intended to ensure the protection of all persons, regardless of age and health status.
The exposure guidelines are based on the SAR (Specific Absorption Rate). This is a measure of the amount of radiofrequency energy (RF) absorbed by the head or body when the device is transmitting. The ICNIRP SAR limit for mobile devices is 2.0 W/kg averaged over 10 grams of tissue.
SAR tests are performed with the device in standard operating positions, transmitting at the highest energy level in all frequency bands. This device complies with the guidelines for radio signal exposure when used against the head or when the device is kept at least 1.5 centimeters away from the body. When the device is worn on the body in a carrying case, belt clip, or other form of device holder, these accessories should not contain metal and should maintain the aforementioned distance from the body.
A good network connection is required to send data or messages. Sending may be delayed until such a connection is available. Follow the instructions for distance from the body until sending is complete.
During general use, SAR values are usually significantly lower than the values shown above. This is because your mobile device's power consumption is automatically reduced when full power is not needed for the call. This is intended for system efficiency and to minimize network interference. The lower the output power, the lower the SAR value.
Device models may have different versions and more than one value. Over time, component and design changes may be made, and certain changes may affect SAR values.
Visit www.sar-tick.com for more information. Remember that mobile devices may transmit even when you are not making a voice call.
The World Health Organization (WHO) has stated that current scientific evidence does not indicate that special precautions are necessary when using mobile devices. If you are interested in reducing your exposure, they recommend limiting your use or using a hands-free kit to keep the device away from your head and body. For more information, explanations, and discussions about exposure to RF, visit the WHO website at www.who.int/health-topics/electromagnetic-fields#tab=tab_1.
Refer to www.hmd.com/sar for the maximum SAR value of the device.
