Training
- Read the instructions carefully. Ensure you understand them and are familiar with the controls and correct use of the product.
- Never allow children or people unfamiliar with these instructions to use the product. Local regulations may restrict the age of the operator.
- Never operate the product while people, especially children, or pets are nearby.
- Remember that the operator or user is responsible for accidents or hazards occurring to other people or their property.
Preparation
- While operating, always wear substantial footwear and long trousers. Do not operate the product barefoot or wearing open sandals. Avoid wearing clothing that is loose-fitting or has hanging cords or ties.
- Thoroughly inspect the area where the product is to be used and remove all objects that could be thrown by the product.
- Before using, visually inspect the blade, blade bolt, and blade assembly for wear or damage. Replace worn or damaged components in sets to preserve balance. Replace damaged or unreadable labels.
General Operation
- Use the tool only with specifically designated battery packs. Using other battery packs may create a risk of injury and fire.
- Operate the product only in daylight or in good artificial light.
- Do not expose the tool and charger to rain or wet conditions. Water entering a tool or charger increases the risk of electric shock.
- Avoid operating the product in wet grass.
- Always be sure of your footing on slopes.
- Walk, never run.
- For wheeled rotary mowers, mow across the face of slopes, never up and down. Exercise extreme caution when changing direction on slopes.
- Do not mow excessively steep slopes.
- Use extreme caution when reversing or pulling the product towards you.
- Stop the blade(s) if the appliance has to be tilted for transportation when crossing surfaces other than grass, and when transporting the product to and from the area to be mowed.
- Never operate the appliance with defective guards or shields, or without safety devices (e.g., deflectors, grass catchers) in place.
- Switch on the motor carefully according to instructions and with feet well away from the blade(s).
- Do not tilt the product when switching on the motor, except if it must be tilted for starting. In this case, do not tilt it more than absolutely necessary and lift only the part away from the operator. Always ensure both hands are in the operating position before returning the appliance to the ground.
- Do not start the machine when standing in front of the discharge opening.
- Do not put hands or feet near or under rotating parts. Keep clear of the discharge opening at all times.
- Do not transport the product while the cutting blade is running.
- Switch off and remove the battery pack/safety key from the machine. Ensure all moving parts have come to a complete stop. This includes: whenever you leave the product, before clearing blockages or unclogging the chute, before checking, cleaning, or working on the product, and after striking a foreign object. Inspect the product for damage and make repairs before restarting and operating.
- If the product starts to vibrate abnormally, inspect for damage, replace or repair any damaged parts, and check for and tighten any loose parts.
- Use only with the battery packs and chargers listed: Battery pack Y0L120BAT2.5, Charger Y0L120CGR.
Special Operation Safety for the Charger
- Recharge only with the charger specified by the manufacturer. Do not use the original charger on other Li-ion batteries or any other type of battery, as fire or explosion may occur.
- Check the battery charger, cable, and plug each time before using. Do not use the battery charger if defects are detected. Do not open the battery charger yourself; have it repaired only by qualified personnel using original spare parts.
- The charger is designed for standard household 100~120 V, 50/60 Hz power sources. The charger's plug must match the outlet. Never modify the plug. Unmodified plugs and matching outlets reduce the risk of electric shock.
- Do not abuse the charger cord. Never use the cord for carrying, pulling, or unplugging the charger. Keep the cord away from heat, oil, sharp edges, or moving parts. Damaged or entangled cords increase the risk of electric shock.
- Ensure the charger cord is located so it will not be stepped on, tripped over, or subjected to damage or stress.
- Keep the battery charger clean. Contamination may cause electric shock.
- Protect the battery charger from rain and moisture. Water penetration increases the risk of electric shock.
- Do not operate the battery charger on easily inflammable surfaces (e.g., paper, textiles) or in combustible environments, as there is a danger of fire due to heating during charging.
- The temperature range for charging is typically 41 °F - 113 °F. Charging outside this range may be blocked by the battery's protection circuitry. Longest life and best performance are obtained when charging in normal room conditions.
- Disconnect the charger from the power supply when not in use to reduce the risk of electric shock or damage if metal items fall into the opening.
- The charger is for indoor use only.
Special Operation Safety for the Battery Pack
- The Li-ion battery pack is not fully charged at the factory; it must be fully charged before use.
- Recharge the battery pack when it fails to produce sufficient power for jobs previously done easily. DO NOT CONTINUE using the product with a depleted battery.
- Do not charge the battery in air temperatures below 41 °F or above 113 °F. This prevents serious damage. Longest life and best performance are obtained when charging at approximately 68 °F.
- If the battery temperature exceeds 113 °F during operation, it cannot be charged, even on the charger. Let the machine cool down for some time before attempting to charge again.
- Protect the battery pack against heat, including continuous sun irradiation and fire, as there is a danger of explosion.
- Do not carry individual battery packs in pockets or bags, as they could short-circuit against other metal items.
- If an exposed Li-ion battery pack starts a fire, it will burn more violently if it comes into contact with water or even moisture in the air. DO NOT throw water on a burning Li-ion battery; use a fire extinguisher.
- If the battery pack becomes too hot to touch during charging, disconnect and switch off immediately. Contact the Service Centre.
- Do not open the battery yourself, as there is a danger of a short circuit.
- When the battery pack is not in use, keep it away from other metal objects like paperclips, coins, keys, nails, screws, or other small metal objects that could create a connection between terminals, potentially causing burns or fire.
Maintenance and Storage
WARNING!
Before performing any maintenance or cleaning, ensure the battery pack/safety key has been removed and wait until the blade has stopped completely and the tool has cooled down.
Cleaning
- Use a soft brush to remove any accumulated dust and debris. Wear safety glasses to protect your eyes.
- Wipe down the product enclosure with a slightly damp cloth. Do not spray the unit with water, as ingress of water may destroy the switch unit and electric motor.
Maintenance
NOTE: Always wear gardening gloves when handling or working near sharp blades.
- Keep all nuts, bolts, and screws tight to ensure the machine is in safe working condition.
- Check the grass bag frequently for wear or deterioration.
- Examine the machine and replace worn or damaged parts for safety.
Removing/Installing the Blade (See Figures 23 & 24)
For safety, have your blade sharpened, balanced, and mounted by an authorized service center. It is recommended that the blade be inspected once a year for optimum results.
WARNING!
- Before removing the grass collection bag, stop the mower and wait until the blade stops completely.
- You will need garden gloves (not provided) and a wrench (not provided) to remove the blade.
- Always handle the blade with care; sharp edges could cause injury. USE GLOVES.
- Replace your metal blade after 50 hours of mowing or 2 years, whichever comes first, regardless of condition.
- If the blade is cracked or damaged, replace it with a new one. Do not hold the blade by hand directly.
NOTE!
- Do not invert the mower. It is recommended to turn the machine to its side position.
Maintain the sharpness of the blade when cutting grass. If the blade is worn excessively, pitted, and blunt, it should be replaced or sharpened. Blade sharpness affects lawn mower performance.
- Hold the blade and unscrew the blade bolt counter-clockwise using a wrench. Remove the blade.
- Fit a new blade or re-sharpen the blade. Place the blade on the two studs on the blade flange with angled ends pointing up towards the power head, then replace the bolts. Ensure the blade is correctly located, then firmly tighten the bolt with a torque of 26-35 ft. lb. (35-50 N m). Do not overtighten. The upturned part of the blade must project into the motor compartment.
Battery Maintenance
Use the following procedures to enable optimum usage of the battery:
- Protect the battery against moisture and water.
- Store the battery only within a temperature range from 31 °F to 113 °F. For example, do not leave the battery in the lawn mower in direct sunlight.
- Clean the battery occasionally with a soft, clean, and dry brush.
- If you do not use the product for a long time, charge and discharge the battery pack once every 6 months.
Storage and Transport
After cleaning the unit thoroughly, store it in a dry room and allow the motor to cool down.
- Release the Handle Quick release levers and fold the handles down.
- Position the lower handle lock pin into the mower bracket. Lock the handles in place by closing the Quick release handle.
- The machine can be stored flat (See Figure 25).
NOTE: Remove the safety key and battery packs. Ensure cables are not trapped when folding/unfolding the handle. If stored vertically, ensure it is positioned in a corner so the blade faces inwards to a wall and it is secure to prevent accidentally falling over.
Transport
Use the original packaging to ship whenever possible.
Troubleshooting
WARNING!
Before performing any repair work, always ensure that the battery pack/safety key has been removed and wait until the blade has stopped completely and the tool has cooled down.
WARNING!
Always wear heavy-duty gloves when adjusting or cleaning, especially when handling sharp objects.
