Planning Notes
The specific location of the cut-out and control knob positions may vary depending on the installation type (surface- or flush-mounted). The drawing "Installation of the control knob" must be observed if the panel is more than 1" (25 mm) thick, requiring a recess at the rear.
When combining multiple Vario 400 series appliances, a connection strip (VA 420) must be placed between them. The type of connection strip depends on the installation type.
For thin countertops, ensure adequate support for weight-bearing capacity and stability, considering the appliance weight and additional loads.
Additional Instructions for Flush Mounting
Flush mounting is possible in countertops made of stone, synthetics, or solid wood. Ensure heat-resistant and watertight sealing of cut edges. Consult the countertop manufacturer for suitable heat-resistant fillers.
- Minimum countertop thickness: 3/4" (20 mm) for surface-mounted installation.
- Minimum countertop thickness: 1 3/16" (30 mm) for flush installation.
The groove must be continuous and even for uniform placement of the appliance on the gasket. Avoid discontinuous lining. Joint width may vary due to tolerances.
If installing multiple Vario appliances in individual cut-outs, maintain a minimum distance of 2" (50 mm) between them.
This appliance operates with magnetic (induction) iron pots and pans only. Flat-bottom cookware is recommended for optimal heat distribution.
Immersion depth into the cabinet: 2 5/8" (67 mm) for surface-mount, 2 3/4" (70 mm) for flush-mount.
Adequate ventilation from the rear or base of the cabinet is crucial for correct operation. Please see the installation instructions for further detail.
The appliance can be snapped into the countertop from above.
Refer to the installation instructions for further details and additional planning notes on pages 104-109.
If installing several appliances in individual cut-outs, a division bar of at least 1 31/32" (50 mm) must be present between them.
Appliance weight: approximately 22 lbs (10 kg).
Refer to page 143 for installation details regarding air ducting.
Diagram Descriptions
Surface-mount Installation Overview
This diagram illustrates the Gaggenau VI 414 induction wok installed on a countertop with a visible edge. It shows the overall dimensions of the unit and the required countertop space. Key dimensions include the appliance width of 14 15/16" (380 mm) and depth of 20 1/2" (520 mm). The overall width required for installation is 59 1/16" (1500 mm). Minimum clearances are indicated, such as 1 15/16" (50 mm) from the front and sides, and 1 3/8" (35 mm) from the rear. The minimum countertop thickness for this installation is 3/4" (20 mm).
Flush-mount Installation Overview
This diagram depicts the VI 414 induction wok seamlessly integrated into the countertop surface. It details the cut-out dimensions and required clearances for a flush installation. The appliance width is 14 15/16" (380 mm) and depth is 20 1/2" (520 mm). Minimum clearances are similar to surface-mount, with specific attention to the edge treatment of the countertop. The minimum countertop thickness for flush installation is 1 3/16" (30 mm).
Detailed Installation Dimensions (Surface & Flush Mount)
These diagrams provide precise measurements for the appliance cut-out and placement. For both surface and flush mounting, the appliance width is specified as 14 3/16" ± 1/16" (360±1 mm) and depth as 19 3/8" ± 1/16" (492±1 mm). Clearances such as ≥ 1 15/16" (50 mm) and > 1 3/8" (35 mm) are shown. Radii for the cut-out corners are indicated, for example, R 1/8" (R3) and R 3/16" + 1/16" (R 4+1). The diagrams also show the required groove specifications for flush mounting and the placement of the appliance within the cut-out.
Control Knob Installation
This diagram illustrates the installation of the separate control knob panel. It specifies the dimensions for the panel cut-out and required clearances. A key detail is the requirement for a recess of at least 7/8" (23 mm) at the rear if the panel thickness exceeds 1" (35 mm).
Longitudinal and Cross-Section Views
The longitudinal section view shows a side profile of the induction wok installed in the countertop, detailing the appliance's depth and how it fits. It highlights the gasket seal (labeled A) that ensures a watertight fit and the area to be filled with silicone (labeled B) for secure mounting. The cross-section view provides a similar detail from a top-down perspective, illustrating the appliance edge, gasket, and silicone seal within the countertop cut-out, along with specific dimensions.
