Using Your Oven

Oven Functions

Symbol/FunctionDescription
Fan ForcedHeat from elements surrounding the fan circulates hot air. Suitable for multi-shelf cooking, reheating, pastries, and complete oven meals. Cooks at a lower temperature and faster than baking. Some variation in browning is normal.
BakeHeat from top and bottom elements. Bottom element is below the oven floor. Both elements controlled by thermostat. Suitable for single shelf cooking, biscuits, cakes, casseroles, roasts, and delicate egg dishes. General function for most cooking. Preheat empty oven for 10 minutes. Add water to cavity well before preheating for dough rising.
PizzaCombination of 'Base Heat' and 'Fan Assist Bake'. Heat switches between fan element and bottom element. Ideal for foods requiring base browning like pizzas, quiches, meat pies. Place food in the middle of the oven.
AirFryAdvanced convection cooking for crispy results in less time without oil. Suitable for french fries, chicken wings, nuggets.
Base HeatSpecially designed for extra browning on food bases, like pastries and pies. Heat comes from the element below the food. Default setting heats to 230°C. Cook in the lower half of the oven for single shelf use.
Fan & GrillCombines traditional bake and grill functions. Grill element cycles to maintain temperature while the fan circulates heated air. Grill with the oven door closed. Similar to 'rotisserie' results for large meat cuts. Place food on grill shelf in position 2 with grill dish below. No need to turn food. Set temperature to 180°C.
GrillDirects radiant heat from upper elements onto food. Used when only half the heat is needed compared to Maxi Grill. Has 'LO' and 'HI' settings. Grill with the oven door closed.
Maxi GrillDirects radiant heat from two upper elements onto food. For tender cuts of meat, steak, chops, sausages, fish, cheese toasties. Grill with the oven door closed. Allows full use of large grill dish. Preheat grill for three minutes for best results. Place grill shelf in position 4 with grill dish below. Has 'LO' and 'HI' settings.
Fan AssistHeat from top and bottom elements. Fan circulates hot air for very even cooking.
DefrostUses low-temperature air circulated by the fan. For defrosting food, raising yeast dough, or drying fruit/herbs.

Cooling/Venting Fan

The appliance is fitted with a cooling fan to prevent cabinet overheating and reduce condensation. It operates when the oven is in use, blowing warm air across the top of the oven door. The fan may continue running for up to one hour after cooking to cool the oven down.

Condensation and Steam

This appliance uses a system producing natural air circulation and steam recycling. Steam helps cook dishes with soft interiors and crusty exteriors, reducing cooking time and energy. Steam may be produced and released when the door is opened. Condensation on the door glass is normal. To reduce condensation, pre-heat the oven before placing food inside. Wipe away condensation after each use.

Effects of Dishes on Cooking Results

Dish thickness, conductivity, and colour affect heat transfer. Aluminium, earthenware, glassware, and bright shiny utensils reduce cooking and base browning. Enamelled cast iron, anodized aluminium, dark/heavy utensils increase cooking and base browning. Lower shelf position for more base browning; raise shelf for more top browning.

Always place dishes centrally on the shelf for even browning. Single-level cooking is best in conventional modes; use fan cooking for multiple levels.

Operating Sequence

  1. Select the oven function by turning the function selector clockwise.
  2. Select the oven temperature by rotating the adjust selector (left for lower, right for higher) to set the desired cooking temperature in °C.

The temperature can be adjusted at any time.

Pyrolytic Cleaning the Oven

The oven has a Pyrolytic self-cleaning function that cleans by burning off dirt and grease at high temperatures, leaving ash to be wiped out. It does not remove salt or mineral residue.

WARNING: During pyrolytic cleaning, the oven becomes extremely hot. Keep children at a safe distance. Never clean non-stick trays/tins during the cycle, as high temperatures damage the coating and release poisonous gas. Do not use acids, sprays, or similar cleaning agents.

CAUTION: Keep the air outlet exhaust above the door clear. Do not use the oven to clean miscellaneous items.

Before Carrying Out Pyrolytic Function:

  1. Remove all accessories (shelves, trays, side racks).
  2. Clean large deposits, spills, or grease from the oven cavity.
  3. Ensure the cavity well is free of limestone scaling.
  4. Choose cleaning level: C1 - Quick (1h 30m), C2 - Normal (2h), C3 - Intense (2h 30m). Durations include heat-up time.

Pyrolytic Cleaning Operation: Select the function via Menu, then Cleaning. Use selectors to choose time and press OK to start. The function can be stopped by turning the selector to OFF. The door locks automatically and will only unlock when the oven has cooled to a safe temperature.

Hints and Tips:

Temperatures and baking times are guidelines. Adapt usual settings. Use lower temperatures initially. Extend baking times by 10-15 minutes for multi-shelf cakes. Differences in browning equalize during baking. Trays may distort when hot but return to shape when cool.

Oven Shelves

IMPORTANT: Select the correct shelf location. Ensure dishes fit before switching on. Keep dish edges 40mm from oven sides for heat circulation. Do not open the oven door more than necessary. Do not place foods with a lot of liquid with other foods. Use residual heat to finish custards or dry bread. Use minimal cooking oil when roasting to prevent splattering. Use a scone tray for dishes requiring high heat from below. Use aluminium, bright finished, or non-stick utensils for sponges and cakes. Remove unnecessary trays/dishes. Use the oven efficiently by cooking multiple trays (max 2 shelves recommended, use fan function).

Roasting Meat

Set temperature between 180°C and 200°C. Wrap meats in oven roasting bag or foil to minimize cleaning. Use grill/oven dish and insert. Do not pierce meat. Let roast stand for 10 minutes after cooking.

Clean glass surfaces on doors and control panels immediately after soiling. A damp cloth may help remove baked-on food. Oven cleaners can be used for stubborn marks.

WARNING: The door glass is durable. Do not put cold water on hot glass. If door glass is damaged, it should be immediately replaced.

CAUTION: Do not use harsh abrasive cleaners or sharp metal scrapers on oven door glass, as they can scratch the surface, potentially causing shattering.

Oven

WARNING: Always keep the appliance clean. Ensure fats and oils do not accumulate around elements, burners or fans. Keep oven dish, baking trays, grill dish and insert clean, as fat deposits may catch fire. Wrap meats in foil or oven roasting bag to minimise cleaning. Polyunsaturated fats can leave a difficult-to-remove residue.

The upper element can be released to assist in cleaning.

Grill

WARNING: Always keep the grill dish and insert clean, as fat deposits may catch fire. Ensure fats and oils do not accumulate around the grill element. The grill element can be released to assist in cleaning the top of the grill cavity.

Cleaning Oven Accessories

Removing Trays and Shelves: Slide towards you until they reach the front stop. Tilt up at the front to clear side supports. Lift clear. Wash in hot soapy water. Reverse steps to refit, ensuring they are placed between the 2 support wires.

Removing and Replacing Oven Back Light and Side Light

Turn oven light glass anticlockwise to remove for globe replacement. To remove side light, place a spoon under the light glass and lever off. Replace globe and snap cover back into position.

NOTE: A special high temperature resistant globe should be used. Light globes are not covered by warranty.

WARNING: Make sure the appliance is turned off before removing or replacing parts.

Removing the Side Racks

  1. Grasp the middle wire at the front.
  2. Pull firmly inwards while pushing back.

Slides (Telescopic Runners)

CAUTION: Do not subject slides to temperatures greater than 300°C. Do not place slides in a dishwasher. Do not use a knife or sharp object to clean slides. Do not add oil or lubricant to slides.

Removing the Oven Door

WARNING: Make sure the appliance is turned off before removing or replacing parts.

Open the door fully to access hinges. Rotate the 'stirrups' on both hinges fully to the open position.

Slowly close the oven door until it stops against the 'stirrups' (about 45°).

Grasp the oven door with a hand each side and remove it by pulling towards you.

CAUTION: Do not lift the door by the handle. Rough handling will cause glass to break.

Lay the oven door with the outer side facing downwards on something soft and flat (e.g., a blanket) to prevent scratches.

Cleaning the Door Glass Panels

Removing the Door Glass Panels: Lift the black bordered glass panel out of the guide and place on something soft and flat.

Repeat for the smaller clear glass panel (if fitted).

CAUTION: Do not use harsh abrasives on glass panes. Hand wash only with a soft cloth and warm soapy water. When dry, polish with a soft cloth and ensure glass is dry before reassembly.

Re-assembling the Door Glass Panels

  1. Insert the smaller clear glass panel first from above at an angle.
  2. Repeat for the other clear glass panel (if fitted).
  3. Repeat for the black bordered glass panel, ensuring the painted surface faces downwards.

Re-assembling the Top Door Trim

Take hold of the trim at each side, press inwards to release clips. Pull trim towards you. Position trim to the inside edge of the glass. Push trim down with its top edge over the glass panel until the clip snaps in on each side. Push the middle of the trim down to ensure it is straight and firm.

Fitting the Oven Door

  1. Take hold of the door with a hand on each side. With the door at a 45° angle, position the recesses at the bottom of the door onto the hinge arms. Let the door slide down the hinge arms as far as it will go.
  2. Open the door fully to access the hinges. Rotate the stirrups until they lock into the hook. The oven door may now be closed.

Pyrolytic Cleaning of the Oven Cavity

The oven has a Pyrolytic self-cleaning function. It cleans by burning off spatters and accumulated dirt/grease at high temperatures, producing ash that can be wiped out. Regular cleaning is recommended.

Before carrying out Pyrolytic cleaning:

WARNING: Clean large deposits, spills or grease. Keep small children at a safe distance as the appliance becomes very hot. Never clean non-stick trays/tins during the cycle. Pyrolytic cleaning can release fumes; provide good ventilation. Birds and reptiles can be extremely sensitive to fumes; remove pets from the vicinity. Small pets can also be sensitive to localized temperature changes.

CAUTION: Keep the air outlet vent above the door clear. Do not use the oven to clean miscellaneous items. Do not use acids, sprays or similar cleaning agents.

IMPORTANT: Do not use a cooktop fitted above the oven during pyrolytic cleaning to avoid overheating. The cooling fan operates at increased speed and continues until the oven cools down.
