Operation and Features

Before Operating for the First Time:

Shelves and Trays:

Using Your Oven Functions:

Cooling/Venting Fan:

A cooling fan prevents kitchen cabinet overheating and reduces condensation. It operates during oven/grill use and blows warm air across the top of the oven/grill door. It switches off automatically when the oven cools down.

Pre-heating Your Appliance:

Preheat oven for 30 minutes for baking, and grill for 3 minutes for best results. Load food quickly after pre-heating to minimise heat loss.

Operating Sequence:

Select the cooking function first, then set the temperature using the temperature selector. The oven indicator light shows when the burner is ignited. The thermostat maintains the set temperature.

Setting Temperatures:

Turn the temperature selector clockwise. The "oven indicator light" comes on when the burner ignites. It goes off when the set temperature is reached. The flame automatically re-ignites when the temperature drops.

Troubleshooting

Dealing with Cooking Problems:

A table lists common cooking problems, their causes, and remedies. Examples include uneven cooking (check shelf position, tray size, airflow), baked products too brown (adjust temperature, shelf position), cakes cracking (don't overmix, check pan size), pale/flat products (increase temperature, time), and meat not browning (check circulation, grill dish).

Solving Problems:

Before calling for service, check the listed points. For cooking problems, refer to "Dealing with Cooking Problems".

Cleaning Your Appliance

⚠️ Warning: Always ensure the appliance is electrically isolated before cleaning.

Enamel:

Rub persistent stains with a nylon scourer or creamed powder cleansers. Household oven enamel cleaners can also be used.

Stainless Steel:

Clean regularly with warm soapy water, rinse with clean water, and wipe dry with a soft cloth. Follow the polish or brushing lines in the steel. Be careful of sharp edges.

Glass:

Clean glass surfaces on doors and control panels immediately after soiling. A damp cloth can help remove baked-on food. Oven cleaners can remove stubborn marks. Do not use harsh abrasives on glass.

Oven:

Keep appliance clean, ensuring fats and oils do not accumulate around elements, burners, or fans. Keep oven dish, baking trays, and grill dish clean. Wrap meats in foil or roasting bags to minimise cleaning. The upper element can be released for cleaning.

Separate Grill (GGR475, GXR650):

Keep the grill dish and insert clean. Ensure fats and oils do not accumulate around the grill element. The grill element can be released for cleaning.

Maintenance and Getting to Know Your Oven

Maintaining Your Appliance:

Get to Know Your Oven (Simple Test Cake):

A "Simple Test Cake" recipe is provided to help understand oven performance, as variations in colour may occur. The recipe includes ingredients and method for a basic cake, advising on preheating, creaming, mixing, and baking times.

Electronic Burner Control

The electronic controller manages the burner and flame, preventing unburnt gas build-up. The thermostat indicator light shows flame status (on/off). Flame can be viewed through holes in the burner cover.

Ignition and Response to Ignition Failure:

The controller attempts ignition up to 2 times. If flame is not detected, ignition turns off, followed by a 90-second delay. Controls are unresponsive during this delay. After the delay, turn controls off for 5 seconds before re-attempting ignition.

Response to Flame Failure:

If flame is not detected, the controller attempts re-lighting up to 3 times. If unsuccessful, the burner shuts off. A 90-second delay follows before controls are responsive again. Follow the same procedure as ignition failure.

Recognising a Safety Shut-Down Condition:

If the thermostat light is on but the flame is not, a safety shutdown has occurred. A 90-second delay applies before controls are responsive. Turn controls off for at least 5 seconds after the delay.

Power Failure:

After power restoration, the burner will not ignite if controls were left on. Grill element may resume heating on non-electronic clock models. To resume operation, turn controls off for at least 5 seconds. If the appliance has an electronic clock, reset the time of day.

Gas Installation Information:

Operating Pressures:

Table provides supply, test point, and oven injector pressures for NG/SNG and Universal LP gases.

Testing the Operation of the Appliance:

The Electronic Burner Control has a flame safeguard system. Purge air from the appliance by monitoring ignition spark and solenoid valve operation. If flame is not detected, a safety shutdown occurs. Reset controls and power supply as instructed. Check manometer zero point and operating pressure. Observe flame appearance and adjust injectors if necessary. Check timer, light, and fan operation.

Underbench Ovens:

For best integration, control panel should be directly under the benchtop. An upper infill panel may be needed if the cooktop is too deep. Refer to cooktop installation instructions for clearance.
