The OptiPlex GX280 is now available in two new form factors to provide even more flexibility for use in corporate and institutional environments.
New Chassis - Same Performance
The OptiPlex™ GX280 is designed to increase productivity by providing up to a 5X system performance improvement over legacy Dell™ systems. It maximizes investment protection with the implementation of the latest relevant technology, using identical internal components as the existing GX280 chassis for seamless integration.
Designed by Dell, the new chassis focuses on thermal management for maximum power with minimum noise, ensuring whisper-quiet and reliable operation. Key features include:
- HyperCool™ design: Provides improved thermal management to lower ambient temperatures and enhance overall reliability.
- Usability Enhancements: Based on customer feedback, the chassis includes a latched door for tool-less access to internal components without repositioning the system.
- DirectDetect™ Indicators: Front-placed system health status indicators.
- Diagnostic LEDs: Four LEDs provide system status for over 24 different modes, reducing helpdesk call times.
- Network Activity LED: Aids in quicker system diagnosis of network issues.

Easy to Manage
The OptiPlex 280 series provides ready-to-use diagnostics to minimize downtime. Residing on a small utility partition on the hard drive, these diagnostics can be launched from the F12 key upon boot. They are designed to detect specific hardware components and run various tests to troubleshoot problems, often identifying issues as hardware or driver-related, thus simplifying the process and reducing downtime.
