Installation and Connecting: OSD Screen Introduction
This document provides a guide for installing and connecting Acer projectors for wireless display using the UWA5 dongle. It covers the initial setup, connecting various devices, and projector settings.

Initial Setup and Connecting
The projector wireless display standby page is shown for the first boot-up. This page displays the Acer logo, SSID, and password for connecting.
Diagram Description:
- A: The user's device (e.g., smartphone, laptop).
- B: Projector.
- C: Router (e.g., Home WiFi, company WiFi).
- D: Projector's SSID, which requires the UWA5 dongle to be plugged in.
- E: Projector's IP address for web settings. This is accessible after the user's device is connected to the projector. Note: The IP address may change if the projector connects to a router.
- F: Device name, which appears after the projector is connected to a router.
- G: Router's name.
- H: QR code for more operation details.
Step 1: How to Setup the Client at 1st Time
Ensure the projector is plugged into the UWA5 dongle. If the UWA5 is not plugged in, the UI will only show the ID, not the SSID and password.
Step 2: Connect your device to projector by Wi-Fi.
- Open the Wi-Fi settings on your NB, PC, Smartphone, or Tablet.
- Find the SSID named "Acer-XXXXXXXX" and connect to it.
- Upon successful connection, the projector's IP address will appear, and the SSID will disappear.
Users can perform "Miracast" or "Airplay mirroring" in this step.
Step 3: Client setting for projector's wireless setup.
- After Step 2, open your device's web browser and enter the projector's IP address (e.g., 192.168.203.1) to access the setting page.
- Select the router you wish to connect to from the list. This list includes various WiFi networks like TP-LINK_2.4GHz, Actions Taipei, etc.
Setting Details:
- Internet: Not WiFi connected (initial state).
- Device Name: Defaults to Acer-EFFF72C8, but can be modified by the user.
- WiFi Password: Defaults to 30005607, and can be modified by the user (supports 0-9 and a-z).
- Wallpaper: Can be set to ON. When connected to a router, it can display a slideshow from the cloud.
- Language: Defaults to auto (based on the user's device) but can be changed for the web interface.
- Auto play: Can be set to ON.
- Upgrade: Can be set to "not wifi connect!".
- Reset to default: Resets all settings to their default values.
- Reboot: Restarts the projector.
After these settings are applied, the projector's wireless display standby page will update, showing the device name and router name instead of the SSID and PWD.
Step 4: Display
- Connect your device's Wi-Fi to the same router that the projector is using.
- Begin screen mirroring using Miracast, Airplay, DLNA, or Google mirror on your device.
Notes:
- Miracast is primarily recommended for static document presentations.
- Video mirroring may result in audio and image lag.
2. How to do Wireless Display
Android Devices:
- Select the mirroring function in your phone's settings and find the "Acer-XXXXXXXX" device in the list to start mirroring.
- Note that the naming of the mirroring function may vary across different brands and is compatible with Android 5.0 or above.
Samsung S Series Example: Visuals show navigating through phone settings to find and connect to a wireless display.
Huawei Mate Example: Visuals show navigating through phone settings to find and connect to wireless projection.
iPhone:
- Ensure both your projector and mobile device are connected to the same Wi-Fi router.
- Go to Screen Mirroring on your mobile device and select the "Acer-xxxxxxxx" from the list to start projection.
- Compatibility requires iOS 13 or above.
- DRM-protected content (like Netflix, iTunes video, Disney+) is not supported.
Windows 10:
- Press the quick key combination
Win + K
on your computer. - Connect to the device named "Acer-xxxxxxxx" to start your projection.
- The connection may take a few seconds.
- Ensure your Windows 10 operating system is updated to the latest version.
MacOS:
- Ensure both your projector and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi router.
- Click the Screen Mirroring icon on your computer and select "Acer-xxxxxxxx" from the device list to start your projection.
Google Home Screen Mirroring (Android only):
- Download and install the Google Home app from the Google Play Store.
- Ensure both your projector and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi router.
- Enable Google Home app, navigate to Account >> Mirror Device, and select "Acer-xxxxxxxx" from the device list to start your projection.
- DRM content (like Netflix, iTunes video, Disney+) is not supported.
DLNA
- Download and install a cloud video app (e.g., Youku, iQIYI, Tencent Video).
- Ensure both your projector and computer are connected to the same Wi-Fi router.
- Launch the cloud video app and click the DLNA icon to select the "Acer-xxxxxxxx" in the device list to start your projection.
3. Projector's Wireless Setting
Launch your device's web browser and enter the projector's wireless IP address to access the projector's setting page.
Setting Options:
- Internet: Projector's wireless client setting enables Airplay streaming, DLNA, and Google mirror functions.
- Device Name: Default is the same as SSID/ID; users can modify it.
- WiFi Password: Supports 0-9 and a-z; users can modify it.
- Wallpaper: When connected to a router, it can display a cloud-based slideshow.
- Language: Defaults to auto (based on the user's device); users can change the language for the web interface.
Upgrade Process:
- Ensure both the projector and user's device are connected to the same Wi-Fi router. Follow steps 1-3 from the 'Internet' section to set up the internet connection.
- Enter the projector's wireless IP address in the web browser.
- The upgrade UI on the projector will display the local and server versions and the upgrade progress.
The system will automatically reboot after the upgrade is finished.
7. Other Important Notice
- Unsupported Codecs: AC3, 3GP, RMVB, DTS, DIVX, MPEG2 are not supported.
- Supported WiFi Dongles: UWA5.
- Wireless transmission distance: Less than 5 meters.
