This document provides instructions for the Braun BC16 alarm clock.
Diagrams
Figure 1 shows the Braun BC16 alarm clock. The top and front view (labeled 1) displays the LCD screen. The bottom view shows: 2. Battery compartment, 3. USB-C jack, 4. Backup battery compartment, 5. Reset button. The side view shows: 6. Alarm ON/OFF button, 7. Snooze zone, 8. Minus key, 9. Plus key.
Figure 2 illustrates the display symbols: A. Time, B. Alarm icon, C. Alarm time.
Battery Precautions
- Do not use rechargeable batteries.
- Use only 3V, CR2032 batteries of the same or equivalent type.
- Insert batteries with the correct polarity.
- Keep batteries away from children.
- Dispose of exhausted batteries according to local legal requirements. Do not dispose of them with normal household rubbish.
- Avoid short-circuiting the contacts in the battery compartment and battery terminals.
- Remove batteries from the unit if it will not be used for long periods.
- Exhausted batteries should be removed from the battery compartment to prevent over-discharge, which can cause leakage and damage to the clock.
Getting Started
- Remove the battery door.
- Take out the button cell battery and remove the plastic strip.
- Replace the button cell battery for time backup.
- Close the battery door.
- Plug the AC/DC adapter into the USB-C jack at the back of the clock to power it.
Function Keys
The main control is a switch labeled "ALARM / TIME / 12/24 HOUR / BRIGHTNESS".
- ALARM position: Sets the alarm time.
- TIME position: Sets the clock time.
- 12/24 HOUR position: Sets the 12/24 hour format.
- BRIGHTNESS position: Sets the clock display brightness.
+ Key: Increases setting value or speeds up setting when held. In 12/24 HOUR mode, switches between formats. In BRIGHTNESS mode, increases display brightness.
- Key: Decreases setting value or speeds up setting when held. In BRIGHTNESS mode, decreases display brightness.
ALARM ON/OFF Button: Turns the alarm on or off.
SNOOZE Zone: Touch to stop the alarm and activate the snooze function.
RESET Button: Use a pin to reset all values to default. Required for malfunctions.
Setting the Time
- Slide the switch to the TIME position.
- Use the + or - keys to set the desired time. Press and hold for faster adjustment.
- Slide the switch to the BRIGHTNESS position to return to normal display and save the setting.
Setting the Alarm
- Slide the switch to the ALARM position.
- Use the + or - keys to set the desired alarm time. Press and hold for faster adjustment.
- Slide the switch to the BRIGHTNESS position to return to normal display and save the setting.
Setting the 12/24 Hour Format
- Slide the switch to the 12/24 HOUR position.
- Press the + key to select 12 or 24 hour format.
- Slide the switch to the BRIGHTNESS position to return to normal display and save the setting.
Setting Clock Display Brightness
The clock automatically adjusts brightness based on ambient light.
- For manual adjustment in a well-lit environment: Slide the switch to BRIGHTNESS and use the + or - keys to set desired brightness.
- For manual adjustment in a dark environment (or by covering the sensor): Slide the switch to BRIGHTNESS and use the + or - keys to set desired brightness.
Using the Alarm and Snooze Function
- Activate the alarm by pressing the ALARM ON/OFF button. An alarm icon [bell icon] will appear on the LCD display.
- Touch the SNOOZE zone to stop the alarm and activate snooze. The alarm icon will flash when the alarm sounds.
- To deactivate the alarm and snooze function, press the ALARM ON/OFF button. The alarm icon will disappear.
Note: The snooze function reactivates the alarm after 5 minutes. Pressing ALARM ON/OFF is required to permanently stop the snooze.
Caution: Do not place the adapter wire near the SNOOZE zone, as it may affect its function.
Battery Replacement
Replace the button cell battery if the time is not memorized after the AC/DC adapter is disconnected and reconnected. Annual replacement is recommended.
Note: Electrostatic environments may cause the clock to reset. Follow manual instructions to reset.
Guarantee
A 2-year guarantee covers material and workmanship defects (excluding batteries). It is valid in countries where the alarm clock is officially sold. Broken or cracked screens are not covered.
Adapter Precautions
- Do not expose the adapter and apparatus to liquids or place liquid-filled objects on them.
- Ensure the adapter is accessible for disconnection.
- The clock's power consumption is DC 5.0V 1.0A; use the provided adapter.
- Do not expose the battery to excessive heat.
Caution: Incorrect battery replacement can cause explosion. Replace only with the same (CR2032) or equivalent type.
