Product Registration and Warranty

Registering your product ensures you receive the most appropriate service and product support available. You can register your product at creative.com/register. Your warranty rights are not dependent on registration.

Creative warrants the included Creative-branded hardware product against defects in materials and workmanship for twelve (12) months (twenty-four (24) months for the European Union, excluding wear and tear), subject to exceptions stated in EU Directive 1999/44/EC. The warranty does not cover consumable parts, normal wear and tear, accidents, or misuse. Proof of original purchase via a dated itemized receipt is required for warranty eligibility. Creative will service the product at no charge using new or refurbished replacement parts at its discretion.

For Australia only: Goods come with guarantees that cannot be excluded under the Australian Consumer Law. You are entitled to a replacement or refund for a major failure and compensation for other foreseeable loss or damage. You are also entitled to repair or replacement if goods fail to be of acceptable quality and the failure does not amount to a major failure. Refurbished parts may be used for repairs.

Overview of Controls and Ports

The Sound Blaster G8 features the following controls and ports:

(1) GameVoice Mix Knob: Balances audio levels between game sound and voice chat.
(2) Volume Control Knob: Adjusts the overall volume.
(3) 3.5 mm Microphone Port: Connect a microphone.
(4) 3.5 mm Headset Port: Connect a headset with a microphone.
(5) Dolby Digital Decoder LED Indicator: Shows the status of the Dolby Digital decoder.
(6) SBX Button: Activates SBX surround sound effects.
(7) Direct Mode Button: Toggles Direct Mode on/off.
(8) Speaker / Headphone Button: Switches audio output between speakers and headphones.
(9) HDMI (ARC) Port: For audio return channel connection to a TV or receiver.
(10) USB-1 Port / DC Power Connector: Primary USB connection for audio and power, or DC power input.
(11) USB-2 Port: Secondary USB connection for audio output.
(12) Optical Input / HDMI (ARC) Switch: Selects between optical input and HDMI (ARC) source.
(13) Headphone Gain Switch: Adjusts the gain for headphones (Low/High).
(14) Optical Output Port: For optical audio output.
(15) Optical Input Port: For optical audio input.
(16) 3.5 mm Line Output Port: For line-level audio output.
(17) 3.5 mm Line Input Port: For line-level audio input.

Powering the Device

The USB-1 port offers dual functionality, allowing both audio output and connection to a power adapter. When the USB-1 port is connected to a power adapter, use the USB-2 port for audio output.

Firmware Update

Firmware updates can be performed through the Creative application on a PC. During the update, the buttons' LEDs will light up sequentially in white and green until the firmware update is complete.

Master Reset

Press and hold the SBX and HP/SPK buttons for 5 seconds to perform a master reset. The buttons' LEDs will light up sequentially from left to right in white and orange until the reset is complete. Upon completion, the LEDs will turn off and the device will revert to its default state.
