Quick Start Guide
Follow these steps to get started:
- Fit Batteries: Insert batteries into the remote control.
- Select Mode: Press the MODE button to cycle through AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN modes.
- Select Temperature: Use the TEMP ▲ or TEMP ▼ buttons to set your desired temperature.
- Select Fan Speed: Press the FAN SPEED button to choose AUTO, LOW, MED, or HIGH.
- Point Remote Toward Unit: Ensure the remote is aimed at the indoor unit.
- Press Power Button: Press the ON/OFF button to turn the unit on.
Note: FAN SPEED cannot be set in AUTO mode. For specific model variations, refer to the detailed sections.
Handling the Remote Controller
Inserting and Replacing Batteries
Your air conditioning unit may come with two batteries (some units). Put the batteries in the remote control before use.
- Slide the back cover from the remote control downward, exposing the battery compartment.
- Insert the batteries, paying attention to match up the (+) and (-) ends of the batteries with the symbols inside the battery compartment.
- Slide the battery cover back into place.
Battery Notes
- For optimum product performance: Do not mix old and new batteries, or batteries of different types.
- Do not leave batteries in the remote control if you don’t plan on using the device for more than 2 months.
Battery Disposal
Do not dispose of batteries as unsorted municipal waste. Refer to local laws for proper disposal of batteries.
Tips for Using Remote Control
- The remote control must be used within 8 meters of the unit.
- The unit will beep when remote signal is received.
- Curtains, other materials, and direct sunlight can interfere with the infrared signal receiver.
- Remove batteries if the remote will not be used more than 2 months.
Notes for Using Remote Control
This device complies with local national regulations. In Canada, it complies with CAN ICES-3(B)/NMB-3(B). In the USA, this device complies with part 15 of the FCC Rules, subject to two conditions: (1) it may not cause harmful interference, and (2) it must accept any interference received. This equipment has been tested and found to comply with the limits for a Class B digital device, designed to provide reasonable protection against harmful interference in a residential installation. If interference occurs, try measures such as reorienting the antenna, increasing separation, or connecting to a different circuit. Unauthorized modifications may void the user's authority to operate the equipment.
Buttons and Functions
Familiarize yourself with the remote control's buttons:
- ON/OFF: Turns the unit on or off.
- TEMP ▲: Increases temperature in 1°C (1°F) increments. Max. temperature: 30°C (86°F).
- TEMP ▼: Decreases temperature in 1°C (1°F) increments. Min. temperature: 17°C (62°F).
- SET: Scrolls through operation functions (e.g., Fresh, Follow Me, AP mode). The selected symbol flashes; press OK to confirm.
- FAN SPEED: Selects fan speeds: AUTO -> LOW -> MED -> HIGH. Holding for 2 seconds activates Silence feature.
- SWING: Starts/stops horizontal louver movement. Hold for 2 seconds for vertical louver auto swing (model dependent).
- MODE: Scrolls through operation modes: AUTO -> COOL -> DRY -> HEAT -> FAN. (Note: HEAT mode may not be supported by cooling-only appliances.)
- SLEEP: Saves energy during sleeping hours.
- OK: Used to confirm selected functions.
- TIMER: Sets timer to turn the unit on or off.
- SHORTCUT: Restores previous settings. Pushing for >2 seconds restores current settings.
- CLEAN: Starts/stops the Self Clean function (available in COOL or DRY mode).
- LED: Turns the indoor unit's LED display and buzzer on/off (model dependent).
- Turbo: Enables the unit to reach preset temperature quickly.
- ECO: Enters energy-efficient mode (available in COOL mode).
Model Notes: Specific features like Fresh, AUTO, HEAT modes may vary by model (e.g., RG10B(D)/BGEF, RG10B2(D)/BGCEF, RG10A4(D)/BGEF). Some models support °C/°F scale switching via TEMP ▲ and ▼ buttons.
Remote Screen Indicators
Information displayed on the remote controller screen:
- Transmission Indicator: Lights up when a signal is sent.
- TIMER ON/OFF Display: Shows timer status.
- Silence feature display: Indicates Silence feature is active.
- FAN SPEED display: Shows selected fan speed (AUTO, LOW, MED, HIGH). Not adjustable in AUTO or DRY mode.
- MODE display: Shows current mode (AUTO, COOL, DRY, HEAT, FAN).
- ECO display: Indicates ECO feature is active.
- LOCK display: Indicates LOCK feature is activated.
- Temperature/Timer/Fan speed display: Shows set temperature, timer, or fan speed. Temperature range: 17-30°C (62-86°F). Timer range: 0-24 hours. Blank in FAN mode.
- Fresh feature display: Indicates Fresh feature is active.
- Sleep mode display: Indicates Sleep mode is active.
- Follow me feature display: Indicates Follow Me feature is active.
- Wireless control feature display: Indicates wireless control is active.
- Low battery detection display: Flashes when battery is low.
Note: Indicators shown are for clarity; actual operation displays relative function signs.
How to Use Basic Functions
Basic Operation: Ensure the unit is plugged in and powered.
Setting Temperature
The operating temperature range is 17-30°C (62-86°F) or 20-28°C. Adjust temperature using TEMP ▲ or ▼ buttons in 1°C (1°F) increments.
AUTO Mode
The unit automatically selects COOL, FAN, or HEAT based on the set temperature.
- Press MODE to select AUTO.
- Set temperature using TEMP ▲ or ▼.
- Press ON/OFF to start the unit.
Note: FAN SPEED cannot be set in AUTO mode.
COOL Mode
- Press MODE to select COOL.
- Set temperature using TEMP ▲ or ▼.
- Press FAN button to select fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED, HIGH.
- Press ON/OFF to start the unit.
DRY Mode (Dehumidifying)
- Press MODE to select DRY.
- Set temperature using TEMP ▲ or ▼.
- Press ON/OFF to start the unit.
Note: FAN SPEED cannot be changed in DRY mode.
FAN Mode
- Press MODE to select FAN.
- Press FAN button to select fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED, HIGH.
- Press ON/OFF to start the unit.
Note: Temperature cannot be set in FAN mode; the remote display will not show temperature.
HEAT Mode
- Press MODE to select HEAT.
- Set temperature using TEMP ▲ or ▼.
- Press FAN button to select fan speed: AUTO, LOW, MED, HIGH.
- Press ON/OFF to start the unit.
Note: HEAT function performance may be affected by low outdoor temperatures. Consider using other heating appliances.
Setting the TIMER
Set the amount of time after which the unit will automatically turn on/off.
TIMER ON Setting
Press TIMER button. Use TEMP ▲/▼ buttons to set desired ON time. Point remote to unit; wait 1 second for activation.
TIMER OFF Setting
Press TIMER button. Use TEMP ▲/▼ buttons to set desired OFF time. Point remote to unit; wait 1 second for activation.
Note: Time increments are 30 minutes up to 10 hours, then 1 hour up to 24 hours. Timer reverts to 0.0 after 24 hours. Cancel by setting timer to 0.0h.
TIMER ON & OFF Setting (Example)
Time periods set refer to hours after the current time. Example: Current time 1:00 PM. Set ON timer for 2.5 hours (unit turns on at 3:30 PM) and OFF timer for 5 hours (unit turns off at 6:00 PM).
How to Use Advanced Functions
Swing Function
Press SWING button for horizontal louver movement (up/down). Press again to stop. Press and hold for >2 seconds for vertical louver auto swing (model dependent).
LED Display
Press LED button to turn the indoor unit's display and buzzer on/off (model dependent). Press and hold for >5 seconds to display actual room temperature; press again to revert to setting temperature.
Silence Function
Press and hold FAN button for >2 seconds to activate/disable Silence function (some units). Note: May result in insufficient cooling/heating. Pressing ON/OFF, Mode, Sleep, Turbo, or Clean cancels Silence function.
ECO Function
Press ECO button (some units) to enter energy-efficient mode (COOL mode only). Automatically sets temperature to 24°C/75°F and fan to AUTO for energy saving if set temp is below 24°C/75°F. If set temp is above, fan becomes AUTO, temp unchanged. ECO stops if temp is set below 24°C/75°F or mode/temp is changed.
FP Function
For heat pump air conditioners. Press button twice within 1 second under HEAT mode with specific temperatures (e.g., 17°C/62°F or 20°C/68°F for certain models) to activate. Cancels if ON/OFF, Sleep, Mode, Fan, or Temp buttons are pressed.
LOCK Function
Press CLEAN and TURBO buttons simultaneously for >5 seconds to activate Lock. All buttons are unresponsive except CLEAN/TURBO for disabling.
SHORTCUT Function
Press SHORTCUT button to revert to previous settings (mode, temp, fan, sleep). Pressing for >2 seconds restores current settings.
Clean Function
Press CLEAN button to automatically clean the unit. It will turn off after cleaning. Pressing mid-cycle cancels operation. Available in COOL or DRY mode.
TURBO Function
In COOL mode, blows cool air at highest fan speed for rapid cooling. In HEAT mode, activates Electric HEATER for rapid heating (for units with electric heat elements).
SET Function
Press SET to enter function setting. Use SET or TEMP ▲/▼ to select desired function (Fresh, Sleep, Follow Me, AP mode). Selected symbol flashes; press OK to confirm. To cancel, repeat steps. Note: If Fresh/Sleep buttons exist, SET button cannot select them.
FRESH Function:
Activates ion generator to purify air.
Sleep Function:
Decreases energy use during sleep. Only available via remote control. Not available in FAN or DRY mode.
Follow Me Function:
Measures ambient temperature via remote and sends it to the unit every 3 minutes, optimizing comfort. Press and hold TURBO for 7 seconds to start/stop memory feature. 'On' or 'Off' displays on screen. ON/OFF, mode changes, or power failure do not cancel Follow Me.
AP Function:
For wireless network configuration. On some units, press LED button seven times in 10 seconds to enter AP mode.
