GM69Pro Bar Code Reader Module Overview

GM69Pro is a high-performance embedded 2D image module that uses CMOS global camera technology for reading barcodes on paper, goods, and screens. It supports multiple 1D/2D barcode types and can read Chinese ID/passport numbers via OCR settings. The module is designed for compact integration into a wide range of devices.

Quick Setup and Use (From Manual)

  1. Power the module with DC 5V.
  2. If using UART/TLL-232, connect via the 4-pin interface: 5V (pin 1), TX (pin 2), RX (pin 3), GND (pin 4). Ensure your mainframe serial settings match the module’s UART parameters.
  3. For UART serial communication, use the default settings: 9600 baud, 8 data bits, no parity, 1 stop bit.
  4. Select a read mode as needed: Manual Mode, Induction Mode, or Continuous Mode (the module supports all three).
  5. Configure prompting (LED/Buzzer) and other options (e.g., lighting/collimation, induction sensitivity/duration) using the setup-code scanning functions described in the manual.

Troubleshooting

  • No Read (NR) prompt: If a barcode is not read after the key is pressed and released, the module can send NR (NO READ) messages; any feasible prefix or suffix can be attached to the NR message.
  • Induction Mode not starting reading reliably: In induction mode, reading begins when brightness changes and stops when reading succeeds or when single-reading time exceeds the limit. If the environment change needs more time to stabilize, adjust the Induction Mode – Image Stabilization Duration setting.
  • Induction mode sensitivity issues: If reading is too sensitive or not sensitive enough to detect the intended trigger, adjust Induction Mode – Sensitivity (High/ Middle/ Low).
  • Center-area decoding mismatch: If barcodes aren’t being detected, verify your Decode Center Area setting (Full Width Area Decoding vs Central Area Decoding vs Center Mode Decoding). Central Area Decoding requires the barcode’s central position to be within the configured center region.

FAQ

What read modes are supported by the GM69Pro module?
The module supports Manual Mode, Induction Mode, and Continuous Mode.
What are the UART (TTL-232) 4-pin interface pin functions?
Pin 1: 5V power input; Pin 2: TX (TTL output data); Pin 3: RX (TTL input data); Pin 4: GND (signal ground).
What is the default UART serial configuration?
Baud rate 9600, data bit 8, parity None, stop bit 1.
How does Induction Mode determine when to start reading?
It detects the brightness of the surrounding environment; when brightness changes, it begins reading. It finishes when reading succeeds or when the reading time exceeds the single reading time, and then redetects brightness regardless of the last success/failure.
What should I do if I cannot get a successful read after key press?
The manual states that NR (NO READ) messages can be allowed/sent when the barcode is not READ after the key is pressed and released.
