Unpacking
- Pal Plot is compatible with Windows® 10 and Windows® 11.
- When unpacking your Gamry PAL Potentiostat, check for any damage on the packaging and its content. Verify that you have received all parts listed on your packing list such as Gamry PAL and calibration cell. It may also contain the optional Gamry PAL Cell Cable & Adapter (985-00239) as well as Screen-printed electrodes (SPEs).
If anything is missing or parts are damaged, contact Gamry’s support team (pal@gamry.com) or your local distributor. Do not use any damaged parts.
Install the Pal Plot software
- Note down the 5-digit serial number located on the back side of your Gamry PAL.
- For the installation process, go to Gamry Instruments’ website and log in to the Client Portal.
- Create a new account if you do not have one yet. Go to the Registered Products Page section and register your Gamry Pal device:
- Select Gamry PAL Potentiostat from the instrument drop-down list.
- Enter the serial number noted before. Confirm by pressing the Add Serial # button.
- Your Gamry PAL is now listed under your registered devices. Click on the device to download the latest Pal Plot installation file for your PC or download the App to use it on your Android device.
- Execute the file and follow the instructions to install the Pal Plot software.
Pal Plot is compatible with Windows® 10 and Windows® 11.
Hardware setup
- Directly plug in the USB-C connector of your Gamry PAL potentiostat to your PC, laptop, or Android device from which you are running the Pal Plot software. Alternatively, you can use an appropriate USB-adapter.
It is recommended to use a powered USB-Hub when connecting multiple devices.
The Gamry PAL should be immediately recognized as an USB-device by your computer. - Connections to the electrodes are made on the other side of the Gamry PAL . Two options are available, depending on the cell type
- Screen-printed electrodes can be purchased separately. Directly insert them into the default SPE interface to making contact to CE, WE, and RE. Only 50 µL – merely a single drop – of your test solution are required to complete your setup.
Use the supplied screen-printed calibration cell to calibrate your device and evaluate electrical circuitries . - When using a glass cell such as Dr. Bob’s cell kit, use the optional Gamry PAL Cell Cable & Adapter. Simply insert the cable adapter into the Gamry PAL and connect CE, WE, and RE cell cables. The cables have 2 mm banana plugs and include alligator clips which fit most standard electrochemical cells.

Running experiments
After setting up your experiment, launch the Pal Plot software. The user interface is split up into two sections. The left side shows the data plots while the right-hand side shows the user menu, divided into four groups:
New Experiment: Select an active Gamry PAL potentiostat and choose a new experiment from the drop-down list. Start the experiment after entering the setup parameters.
Experiments: Manage your experiments. Save, delete, or export your data as spreadsheet or Gamry data file (*.DTA) for use with Gamry’s Echem Analyst 2 software.
Analysis: Analyze your measured data and export your results.
Settings: Manage user and interface settings.
