Important Safety Information

Symbol WARNING

See the Important Safety and Product Information guide in the product box for product warnings and other important information.
This device must be installed according to these instructions.
Disconnect the vehicle’s or vessel’s power supply before beginning to install this device.

Symbol CAUTION

Continuous exposure to sound pressure levels over 100 dBA may cause permanent hearing loss. The volume is typically too loud if you cannot hear people speaking around you. Limit the amount of time you listen at high volume. If you experience ringing in your ears or muffled speech, stop listening and have your hearing checked.

To avoid possible personal injury, always wear safety goggles, ear protection, and a dust mask when drilling, cutting, or sanding.

NOTICE

When drilling or cutting, always check what is on the opposite side of the surface to avoid damaging the vessel.

It is strongly recommended that you have your audio system installed by a professional installer to ensure optimum performance.

You must read all installation instructions before beginning the installation. If you experience difficulty during the installation, go to www.fusionentertainment.com/marine for product support.

Tools Needed

  • Appropriate saw or utility knife to cut surface material
  • #2 Phillips screwdriver
  • Torque screwdriver
  • Marine sealant such as 3M 4200 or 5200

NOTE: For customized installations, additional tools and materials may be needed.

What’s in the Box

  • 2 flush-mount adapter brackets
  • 2 grilles
  • Mounting template

Mounting Considerations

This adapter bracket allows you to install a compatible speaker so that it has a flush-mount appearance. When selecting a mounting location for this bracket, you should observe these considerations, as well as the considerations listed in the installation instructions provided with your speakers.

  • You must select mounting locations that provide sufficient clearance for the mounting depth of the adapter bracket as specified in the product specifications.
  • You should select a flat mounting surface for the best seal.

Selecting the correct mounting location optimizes the performance of each speaker. Fusion speakers are designed to perform in the widest possible range of mounting locations, but the more you plan the installation, the better the sound from the speakers will be. For more information on speaker placement and specifications, go to www.fusionentertainment.com/marine.

Mounting the Speaker Adapter Bracket

  1. Secure the included template to the mounting location.
  2. Using a rotary tool or jigsaw, cut the hole for the adapter bracket.
  3. Apply marine sealant on the adapter bracket and the mounting surface.
  4. Place the adapter bracket in the cutout.
  5. Using a #2 Phillips screwdriver, turn the screws to extend the mounting tabs 2 lightly hold the adapter bracket to mounting surface.

    NOTICE
Although you may use a power screwdriver to initially turn the screws on the mounting tabs, you must use a torque screwdriver to complete the installation. Using power tools to fully tighten the screws can damage the adapter bracket and make it difficult to install the grille.
  6. Using a torque screwdriver, tighten the screws by hand to 1.0 N-m (0.74 lbf-ft.).
  7. Follow the directions provided with your speaker to connect the wires from the speaker to the stereo and LED power source (if applicable).
  8. Using the screws provided with the speaker, secure the speaker to the pre-drilled holes on the adapter bracket.
NOTE: If the original speaker grille is installed on the front of the speaker, you must remove it before you can secure the speaker to the adapter bracket. The original speaker grille is not needed, because it will be covered by the grille included in the adapter kit.
Install the included grille on the adapter bracket (Attaching and Removing the Grille, page 2).

Attaching and Removing the Grille

You must install the grille provided in the adapter kit, because the grille provided with the speaker does not fit on the adapter bracket.

  1. After the speaker is installed in the adapter bracket, place the included grille over the speaker, and press down to secure it to the bracket.
  2. To remove the grille from the bracket, insert a small screwdriver into the divot along the edge of the grille, and gently pry up.
